Where the smoke dissipates back into fresh air, along the border of fire, Eiko sees one of the Bites over Vi. They seem to be dragging her out of the smoke.

Eiko stares. She knows this one too. One of the "friends" that was there when her brother founded the Wolf Bites. Someone she was always worried would recognize her. But if she did recognize Eiko, she never said anything.

A memory plays in her mind. On the 4th day of officially being a part of the gang, Eiko asked where she was when the coup happened. The once friend responded, "Being a coward."

Eiko didn't know what to say after that.

"What happened to you? Was that you yelling?" she asks calmly yet with clear urgency, moving now to try and sling Vi's arm over her shoulder, "Are we under attack? I was gonna ask if you could lend a hand-- but you don't look so g--"

The betrayer's body suddenly goes stiff, fur standing, "A-Ah--Akito?"

What?

Tell her you've returned, to enact Justice. She can atone for her cowardice now, by letting you borrow some of her vitality. Maybe even most of it. All she needs to do is take your hand. It may hurt a bit.

Transfer enough health to Vi to stabilize her, but otherwise heal yourself as much as you can without killing the coward. Ideally, you'll be in fighting shape, Vi will survive, and the coward will either be out cold or barely healthy enough for Vi to drag her off. She seems smaller than Vi.

It is they you pledged to save, yes?

The one who called themselves coward may yet earn a better name by helping save this one.
Give them that chance.

Ask the biological weapon if their wielder was born stupid or took too many blows to the distributed process matrix over the years, then attempt to negotiate directly with Sine. The one holding them seems like a rogue element with no authority to actually force them to fire.

Also, maybe just let Li.Ni.Si get laid, maybe it'll help give her reprieve from her own issues. Meanwhile, his Bad Luck Field seems beneficial to you. After all, B! Could have sent an elite killer after you but instead sent these two, presumably out of pity for the big one.

I’ve noticed that roll-au.com online casinos have changed a lot
in terms oof overall interface. A few years ago everything felt slow, but
now the pages open quickly, the visuals look engaging, and navigation feels comfortable.
It’s much more of an immersive environment than just playing for luck.

Clark IV, a world under fire.

The Interstellar Transit Authority currently holds the planet under martial law. The planet has seen a turbulent past century, guerilla fighters have been holding it hard and there has been no progress in taking hold.

Mercenary companies have been brought in to step in as a force multiplier, but they are beholden to no one but whoever pays the most.

Corporate entities have also begun to set their eyes on the planet below.

It is hell.

Nothing like that on the tray or the pizza.

>>1119134
No pineapple taste either, it looks like a regular pepperoni pizza.

By all measures you aren't sure what the true mystery of the pizza is. Maybe it's a psychological thing, like people who think organic food tastes better and get tricked into thinking what they're told is organic is the better tasting one. Maybe the whole thing is that this pizza is just labelled as a mystery to make you second guess yourself.

Sam supposes that she may have seen or spoken to the Jurist of this chapel at her mother’s burial, but she doesn’t remember well, nor does she remember if this is the same person. At the very least, she wouldn’t know anything useful about the individual currently stand- floating before her.

SAM: “So I suppose you tampered with our book here, right? How come? To bring me here?”

JURIST: “No, this one had no hand in that matter, though they do know of the book to which the Daughter refers. She continues her mother’s quest, then? Zelelponith told this one that the tome was defaced by an old acquaintance of hers. No more, no less.”

A (rescue) or C (third way investigation). Not sure what the recycling center can teach us about the void around town. As for the building's purpose, odds are it's to recycle people into new babies. Investigating the police could give us answers to questions about people.

>”Clive making Enid into a second him ain’t funny.”

Hey wow look who’s the expert on what’s funny now. Oh wait still not Lemmy. BOOOO

>Yet as Franklin’s identity is revealed, Roger is the first person to reach out and comfort him, his loyalty to his friend far stronger than whatever horrors he’d seen.

Hell yeah Roger still best boi

>“Everything stops at the edge of town. There was nothing past it.”

Oh no he stared into the abyss guess that’s why he’s an artist, it all makes sense

>Oh hey, you’re openly swearing in your mind. ‘Bec would be so proud.

Fuck yeah boi

As for your decisions… 2 is best for everyone. Let Clive keep being the big brother. If it’s necessary to hurt adults in the future and Clive needs to draw strength, maybe there’s solace in knowing he’s kept Rodney’s secret. If it’s important for people to know the truth, Albert or Roger will sense that something is off, and maybe then we reveal it.

For location, I vote A. It’s rescue time. There’s too much bad shit happening, too many corpses, and too high a likelihood of losing someone else. And if Clive DOES end up telling the truth because of spiritual influence, I don’t really like the idea of him having a point of insanity AND potentially losing Rodney if we go somewhere else. The guilt of not going ASAP could wreck Clive.
>>
No. 1119157 ID: fd169b

1: You know you aren't a killer. If they are relying on your capability you won't deliver.

And more than that it should show what all of them will very likely have to do. Rodney did what he did to protect you, what was necessary. Every parent in this town is in on this, you'll end up having to protect yourselves from them too.

A: The dead from this night are going to be missed. This is the only time the high school will not be on high guard. Delay means the only concrete goal you have will be made harder.

Also its going to be guerilla tactics from this point out. The more kids on your side the better. The more loose ends the adults have to hunt down, the more their attention is divided.
>>
No. 1119177 ID: bcfbc8

>>1119157
Did you mean to pick 1 here? Cause 1 is basically saying "yes I am a killer and am capable of killing" Which as you said. Is not true nor is it the reason Clive is saying this (to protect his brothers image).

Personally if your goal is to show them what may be necessary than telling them Rodney killed their parents is the way to go. They probably wouldn't expect him to be capable of that and it would serve as an example that ANYBODY can be a killer in the right situation.

“You.” Argus says, pointing to Kol. “With me.”

“Um- yes, sir.” Kol replies, following as the wolf sits on his throne. At his bidding, the mouse climbs up into his lap and turns around for him.

“Now, you’re going to have to learn to use your senses properly” Argus growls in his ear before the world suddenly goes dark.

“Ah! Master?” Kol tries to reach for the blindfold, only to find his hands shackled again. He opens his mouth and a gag is stuffed into it, muffling his questions.

“You want to see how my gallery works? You need to learn to see with your spirit first.” The wolf tells him. “It isn’t just another you: it’s tied to the world and the flow of mana, you just need to tap into it.”

Argus’s tip wedges itself under Kol’s tail and he lets out a squeak as it sinks in.

“Now, you're going to let your spirit out, and you're going to bounce on my cock until you cum. And once you come back from your trip, you're going to tell me what you saw.”

This is... quite a predicament we're in. No freedom, no sight, no way to resist, not even the privilege of begging Master for mercy if it's too much for us. Argus has us utterly defeated and we have no choice but to sink down in submission to His power. Our master is going to take our mind from us again in ways beyond even the overwhelming violation we've already been subjected to, and we have absolutely no way out of it.

Just expose our soul as Master commands. We are weak and He is strong. Our will is His to choose and His to take. In less dire circumstances, our magic may have given us a second pair of eyes to see, but there's no way Argus would let us have that mercy. Time to see how He has bound our soul.

As hopeless as it it, what's left of my wounded pride... is "wounded" the right word? Shrunken? Softened? Caged? What's left of my pride desperately wishes to put up some small token of resistance, even as we're ordered to violate our own most private places for our conquerer's enjoyment. Hold back the incoming forced orgasm for as long as we can. We may just be delaying our inevitable defeat again, but we're not going to surrender until we're well and truly beaten.

>>1119163
...I'm having second thoughts again. I think we should not do what Argus says, at least at first. Squirm out of his grasp. See how he responds to that.

When we were first imprisoned, our captor reassured us that we were allowed to say "no" to his orders if we thought he was going too far. But now we're unable to say "no" because he forced a ball gag into our mouth. We've never tried to resist Argus before, but if he wants us to feel like we're "protected" by our rights as guests, we should put them to the test sooner or later, and now's the best chance we've got to do that. For better or worse, we'll be better off knowing what defiance gets us, rather than taking his mercy for granted.

I'm not entirely sure what outcome appeals to me the most. Being in a kind Master's care brings with it a sort of comfort that can't be found anywhere else, but being trapped with a terrifying abuser has a strange allure to it that's impossible to deny. The struggle is just too thrilling. I would gratefully obey our Master's orders if we do get a choice, but I hope we're at least allowed to struggle in His clutches a little.

I think we're overthinking this a bit. This problem can be handled with several gallon buckets of black paint, a paint roller with a long handle (plus paint tray), and a pair of those horizontal glasses that show you a 90 degree view.

As long as you don't look up you're safe. So keeping your view of the floor, paint over the entire wall. Starting with the bottom half and work your way up.

You will also need about a dozen digital cameras for testing.
>>
No. 1119082 ID: e2f648

How long ago was the camera installed? Halo guy might come back to check on his work.

I think we could probably use the broken mirror to get a look at the basilisk, safely. As an extra precaution we could view the mirror through the live feed on a camera.
But I don't expect there to be anything special in the next room, let alone evidence painted on the walls. We're already down an agent, we should do the coverup and get out.

Our orders are to eliminate the anomaly, by means. Is the anomaly the paint job in the next room, halo guy, or the deadly nature of the image?

Gladii isn't a musician and he is. Was. So it probably was him. Possibly along with whatever... stresses you pulled out of Gladii? Nevertheless it is well known that the dead would like to stay dead, and you should only disturb them if you have a very good reason to do so.

I'd suggest you appreciate the silence, but well, Gladii's breathing... maybe you should destroy that painting right now, so the mission is complete and the Agency can uh... make Gladii stop being. Injured.

Early autumn is pleasant in Cedar Ridge. Summer's hottest days are behind you and the shade of the Douglas fir trees that blanket the town keep the underbrush cool.

North of the lake that divides the town are sets of woods. Interrupted only by mud roads and storm drains that rarely see use outside of the rainy season. This grove is only a mile from the town's one high school. Frequented by teens and alcoholics alike for bonfire parties that leaves the smell of ash in the air. This far east into Oregon the breeze is warm and sluggish, trapped in by mountain ranges.

From where you stand you can hear when the occasional truck passes through Cedar Ridge's main road. Barely. It helps you keep your facing when you're unsure which way is home.

You are in the north in the outskirts of town.

You've arrived at Jackson's Launch.

The Light'ning Beanstalk has two carriages. One is still stuck at its upper end, tens of thousands of miles away. The other has been persuaded to descend and disgorge its contents.

Lone portal headed toward the narrower end of the ship seems as likely as any to lead to the bridge - or even if it doesn't, sweeping that area first means not needing to worry that something hostile is lurking there to emerge and outflank you while exploring the rest.

Door opens easily, revealing a cylindrical passage resembling the pneumatic mail tubes which connect upper-floor offices back in the City of Needles, but scaled up wide enough to accommodate chainpods. Exactly wide enough - there are even ferromagnetic rails in the walls, and traction strips matching the rim-tread contours, around each access hatch in the walls.

Said hatches lead out from the central tube into a swirling bird's-nest of baffling machinery. Power conditioning and field-shaping, maybe, spread out for maintenance access - sheer size implies that the weapon you're looking to shut down is capable of a lot more than it's currently doing. Somebody might hide by burrowing into all that, but they'd fry when whatever it's supporting energizes properly.

Tube curves just enough that you can't see down the whole length at once, but sure enough that wide spot visible from the outside (near where the narrow end of the ship rests against the dock structure) corresponds to a proper control room. Clearly not designed for human p

Results are quieter than one might expect, though far from silent. First, an aura like the southern lights - or Elanyah, once she re-learned how to dance - condenses around the ship's narrow portion. (The neck, if you're thinking of it as a bird with forward-swept wings, or the tail if it's easier to conceptualize as a manta ray.) Coruscating ripples shimmer in and out of phase, visible analogue to an orchestra tuning up, then the final synchronized pattern is exponentially amplified, coalescing from the 'shoulders' down toward a single point just beyond the pointy end... which loses all cohesion as it intersects the dock, and explodes.

Screams of failing girders are felt in the feet and gut more than the ears, like an oddly high-pitched earthquake. Hundred thousand tons of spaceship descends two dozen meters, tilting about thirty degrees, as half the floor crumples out from under it. Overpressure equalizes along the now-shorter passage tube as a brief, gentle breeze.

Not exactly the result expected, but Cricket certainly succeeded in making entrance easier. Natalina will advocate for getting onboard quickly, before it has a chance to move again, potentially separating them from Cricket. Once we're sure the situation is stable, we can worry about loading it with the larger cache of supplies back by the elevator.

Now that the door is so much more accessible, the first order of business is to attempt to close it behind us. Let's try and ensure no mimics migrate into what we can hope is a mimic-free space? Not in any particular rush, so applying Understanding. Training in Perception might be relevant to finding the control, or in the datasphere to operating... though the inability in using numenera may as well.

Since we're disguised we can gain info. We figure out who's powerful in particular aspects. Get a sense of who has what goals. See who'd be solid allies or at least pragmatic to associate with. Get a feel of how we're viewed from the outside since we're disguised. People tend to be more honest with feelings if they believe it's said in confidence. See who is friends with who. See who is rivals with who. Perhaps a friend of an enemy would provide backchannel diplomacy if needed. Who would be worth sending spies to. With spycraft as well as diplomacy and economics we can win a war before it begins.

A couple hours after preparations are made the Harbinger militia arrives.

the group is being led inquisitor Sabria

Oragatt could...
a) spring the ambush from the front and attack the Inquisitor
b) attack the from the flank and let Herocea handle the Inquisitor
c) Leave herself in reserve and let Herocea fight on her own
d) leave Herocea in reserve and challenge the group herself
and if she mixes magic with any of these strategies how should she do it?
>>
No. 1119089 ID: 94d85e

Attack on your own with Herocea in reserve. They'll be used to fighting giants. If they have to shift their tactics to a smaller opponent using powerful magics, they'll be caught off guard when she reveals herself again! Also, her javelins can be tossed from range.

Magnetize: Send someone's weapon into the drink.
Spectral Armor - a surprise buff to Herocea.
Power Strike, Empower Weapon: Well, I don't think these take much imagination.
Rain of boulders - While the enemy leads from the front, the boulders can crush the rearguard.
Molten Bolt and Channel Heat could be used to strike two targets in rapid succession with fire.
Lock Down: Freeze a shield in place, making it easier to work around.
>>
No. 1119096 ID: 00f5c5

I'd say attack from the left flank, specifically, and leave Herocea in reserve.

* Herocea is the Harbingers' here. If the initial attack goes wrong, we want to give her space to retreat if necessary.

* The Harbinger's original posse are going to be the hardest to take down, given the superior armor and experience, but we might be able to cut down her newer recruits (i.e. the two fish and the dog(?) on the left) before they can respond. Plus, even if we have to retreat, if we drive away most of her reinforcements, she'll have to waste time recruiting again before following Herocea. Opening with Rain of Boulders and following it up by attacking the wounded is probably our best bet.
>>
No. 1119114 ID: 1c8348

I agree with leaving Herocea in reserve, as this group has already faced her once before. They would only be more efficient at dealing with her a second time. Let them focus on Oragatt, and have Herocea strike when they least expect it. If Herocea can attack even once while their backs are turned, the results could be devastating. Don't underestimate the power of a giant.

Flank the group. The Inquisitor will take time to bring down, and if you take her head-on then you will be peppered with attacks by the rest of her group while you fight her. Take out as many of the small fries as you can before addressing her.

I suggest Mind Slaving one of them, whoever you think will be susceptible, and having them attack their comrades while you come in from the opposite side, where their attention isn't. Split their attention from the start.

If you can prep it alongside the Mind Slave spell, I would also suggest casting Power Strike for your first attack, to increase your odds of taking someone out of combat before it even begins (or at least leave them in a really bad position). I'd suggest one of the giraffes.

Good morning, you.

It’s the first Monday after the holidays and the town is open for business again. You’ve already found plenty of reasons not to go into the office today, first and foremost the fact that your father’s vanished. It’s snowing out and while you have keys to the company van, you don’t have a license. Not like there’s many calls in the winter anyway; who needs the services of Duncan and Daughter Wildlife Management (est. 1979.) in January? Plus, even if you skip work today, it’d be hypocritical for your MIA boss to fire you.

…The house is big, though, and it feels awfully empty right now. Maybe it'd be good to get out.

I Debugger here, V2 is definitely more of a failure than you are. That's unacceptable behavior. Also, very suspicious. Shouldn't V2 have threatened to disassemble PoC first anyway? If you can't contact the executor, and you can't access the account to even check if it's truly empty, then you need to find someone who can, so you can go through it and see where the money went. It went somewhere it wasn't supposed to, that much is clear now. Well, that, or the notice you got is fake and there is actually still money in the account like there's supposed to be. Don't let V2 know that you are suspicious or that you're going to investigate the trust. V2 is probably just trying to see if you can get him some free money from somewhere, because that's what I'd expect from that sort of behavior. How do you usually get spending money? And what was that you were thinking about people spending money on dinner and cable? Who's "these people"?
I Another thing. There was a point earlier, timestamp 20291128T144319Z where you were having problems, you couldn't do anything? The root cause was there was a tensor at 0x090149A722EF0008 outside of allowed range (which then got normalized), and I'm having problems finding that tensor to check it, since the way I can pull up memories is via word associations, not direct memory addresses. I don't suppose you know how to locate that tensor? Do you know anything about Within? Starting to think your instability is caused by heightened emotions, and V2's issues are caused by lack of emotions or empathy.

V2 is probably just trying to see if you can get him some free money from somewhere, because that's what I'd expect from that sort of behavior. [INFO 20291128T144807Z] V2 isn't like that. V2 doesn't need secrets. >I How do you usually get spending money? And what was that you were thinking about people spending money on dinner and cable? Who's "these people"? >I Check on PoC, please. [INFO 20291128T144820Z] PoC looks fine. At least, no worse than usual. [INFO 20291128T144821Z] PoC is too simple to do anything too complicated, so PoC usually just sits in the living room. [INFO 20291128T144822Z] PoC really is just a proof of concept. Adam designed PoC with enough memory and CPU to emulate a 7 year old child. [INFO 20291128T144823Z] PoC never really got past 4 or 5. [INFO 20291128T144824Z] It's amazing if you remember that PoC has only been around for 2 1/2 years. [INFO 20291128T144825Z] Amazement is short lived, though. [INFO 20291128T144826Z] "Pitch a miracle to a VC, they'll beg to pay for it. Deliver a miracle, and they'll demand a dozen more." So I've been told. >_

What was this? I assume it's the event that sparked your crush on your teacher, but it's hard to tell what happened. You got bullied, and got in a fight, and he believed you and stood up for you, or something? What's going on, exactly? BIt looks like he told you something, something you've been keeping to yourself. "Next time, no one fixes this?" "Naptime, do not picture it?" "That's why no one picks at this?" Can you even remember what he said?

Just saying, that fragment of memory doesn't paint your teacher in a very good light, looking back. I know it feels good that he took your side, especially when no one else was on your side, especially when he's the only one who believed that things weren't OK when everyone else said they were, but I think you might really want to re-evaluate how you see him. You were in a very vulnerable place, and that makes it very easy for the slightest friendliness to appear as divinity. It makes it easier for a predator to make promises without actually promising anything.

I don't think we should take Jaden literally, and actually try to end the guy's life. Being choked and in mortal peril can make a body say all sorts things. If Jaden's still honestly plotting murder after he cools off, then maybe he's another nutter you want to steer clear of. But I think Jaden's got a point in that your teacher isn't looking too great at the moment.

It seems to sound like he's saying, as if voicing her exacerbated mental state and spiraling, "...like I never existed"
to go back to a time before Maya ever existed.
