There is any form or shape of angels or demons there? Architects would count as angels?
>>

>>124618
the architects are also known as "world shapers", they create mountains, caves, anything. Melody misunderstood their jobs, they give shape to something, they dont create.

now demons can be guardians of hell, that depends what the god wants, same with angels.
they can be guardians of heaven or becoming one can be a prize for being a good person in previous lives.

This is the discussion thread for the quest Soul & Soma:

https://tgchan.org/kusaba/quest/res/880810.html

So some of you may remember me as that author who starts a quest for two updates, abandons it, vanishes for 6 months (or longer) before starting a new one, over and over again.

Depression is not fun, would not recommend.

I can’t guarantee I won’t give up on this one either. But I believe I have found that spark again, and I have invested much of that inspiration in this quest’s setting, which I hope explore with you and to continue to for as long as there are folk making suggestions to keep it going.

Now then…

This is the discussion thread for the quest Soul & Soma. To start with, I’d like to ask what you think the best dimensions for the quest’s images might be. Should future ones be bigger or smaller, or are they fine as they are? And there may be some inconsistency in the art for the first few updates. As we start on this adventure I may take a little time to find a comfortable style. I hope to update at least once a week, but we will see if I can work any faster than that.

As a bonus challenge, see how long it will take you to realize what work heavily inspired this quest!

Well, I'm not sure how much combat we're supposed to be doing now, since we finished the first fight with pacification instead of a knockout/death.
>>

I do enjoy exploration for it's own sake and mysteries indifferent to my understanding of them, so don't take the following as a complain from me, but for most people clear goals and motivations are important to sympathize with a character and engage with the story.
The protagonist is facing the unknown, great, but there isn't a reason to affront adversity other than exploration. If the purpose was to find our own meaning I would dispense with the guide, leave coherent individuals as something distant and absent, a mystery in itself, and force us to find companionship in whatever humanity is left inside those broken minds. If there is a greater purpose, a mission, you're taking too long to give us a hint.

Assuming some tropes from games are relevant, the low level generic enemies are too sympathetic and not hopeless enough.
They don't seam to comprehend much of what is going on, the emotional reaction is exaggerate but coherent and they are open to dialogue as far as their cognitive capacity allow. I can't resent their actions.
At the same time they don't seam to suffer to the point death would be a more dignifying alternative. Rejection of one's own body and disorientation can be dealt with, maybe even becoming functional and satisfy. Considering the protagonist condition isn't all that different we can't justify killing them out of pity unless we also consider the protagonist life similarly undesirable.
We're left with only two reason to fight them: necessity or greed.
>>
No. 123353 ID: 820864

>>123312
No need to worry about that, there'll be plenty of combat to look forward to and soon. I wasn't remotely expecting anything like the suggestion to comfort, so that outcome is kind of a fluke.

I want to apologize and give thanks to the generous folk who granted me the honor of your readership, but Soul & Soma is going on a hiatus (of sorts.) I desperately wish to continue it, but I want to direct my spark of inspiration toward pursuits I feel are more important right now. I definitely will come back to this, but that won’t be for a long while.

I guess this needs a proper thread for this, as it’s not in any of the other canon things I’ve done?
Either way, discuss away about this wannabe Visual Novel.
Who is best girl?
What kind of horrid indecent things do you want to do to them? (Holding hands!? Gods, that lewd!)
Who will win the annual spelling bee at the end?
Etc…

>You know it's kinda amazing how well your art style goes well with the Visual Novel type.
My style consist of drawing the upper body of people and pasting them on static backgrounds… which is exactly what visual novels consist of. Who’d knew they would fit so well together.

I feel like an authority on never updating so let me give you a couple pieces of unsolicited advice:

1. You may feel that the longer time you spend without updating the bigger your next update should be. This is a trap. Ignore the time passed between updates. Consider someone reading the quest in the future as though it were a finished document.

2. Sometimes you can be very pleasantly surprised how willing and patient your audience can be. Taking long breaks out of nowhere is just a fact of life for this thing most of us do as a hobby. (I have little to no experience of the professional Patreon driven quest world so my advice here may not hold as strongly there.)

3. don't believe in you, believe in me who believes in you ah fuck it just believe in your own ability, you do cool stuff.

4. There is no art quality threshold for questing. Your art is clear and communicative and charming and I love it. If there was a threshold you'd have already exceeded it. But there isn't and readers will excuse off panels, off days, off weeks, off months. I just finally realised this myself, at time of posting I updated one of my quests with effectively no art at all due to circumstances. Dedicated fans will be okay with this and here's the secret protip: they're better for suggestions anyway!

5. there's more important things in life to worry about than questing just do like whatever

As we near the end of the first chapter, I take some time to reflect on the results of this quest. I think I see a lot of room for improvement. I seem to need to work on giving less 'non-decisions' in updates - should you kill him with an axe or a club? The answer is, they die either way.

I think that might be the biggest problem keeping progress stalled. I stop to ask the audience to choose something when they don't really need to decide, and the story should just move forward until there's an actual meaningful choice.

A message for Kennit, since by the time I started really following this quest, it was too late to offer him a suggestion:

You should realize that your soul is almost certainly going to end up in Aeseriq’s custody no matter which of these two options you’re stuck with. Therefore, since direct possession is clearly something Aeseriq wants, you should see if you can’t renegotiate to that, in exchange for making you into a daemon instead of harvesting you when it comes time for it. Since you’re unwilling to take the direct “roll over, die, and pray you’re a good boy” route, this is the only bargain you can possibly make at this point that can result in anything even adjacent to a “sort-of win” in the long-run (as even being a daemon servant in debt is more appealing than torture and consumption for eternity). Obviously, turning around and immediately trying to renegotiate is passé; just something you should consider in the near-future.

Anyone got Lunar-Quest-like media to recommend, while we're waiting?
Here's mine:

Inside Out
The Pixar movie has some obvious parallels.
(I would say Fear=Wordblood, Sadness=Hero soul and Joy=Kairosa, which unfortunately leaves Saulanna and Greenie to fight over Rage and Disgust.)

Righteous Steel
Exalted mileu, with a protagonist that has an, er, strong connection to certain demonic forces.
There's a few preceding books, but sadly the sequel seems to be canceled. Still, what's there is good.

Moon-led Journey Across Another World
Japanese light novel, college student gets summoned to other world, infused with extreme powers, then promptly discarded by the Goddess he's supposed to help. (She's the Goddess of Beauty, Appearance is his dump stat, you do the math.) Abandoned in a hostile wasteland, He secures the service of a weaboo dragon, a gluttonous spider-demon, an Orc tribe, a Dwarf clan - and a pocket dimension where he starts a thriving monster colony.

There's been a bit of focus on Commoners lately in ITQ, so I thought I'd share some of my fan-made ones. I made these roughly according to how demons are presented in the sourcebooks, while keeping in mind that 1-st circle DEVAS are likely nowhere near as screwed up as demons, likely more powerful, and in our case, designed by people that actually kind of like humans.
These particular ones fit vaguely into the categories envisioned by our fave Devas, though Wordblood seems to be communicating that our Devas would tend towards flesh and blood, so that sort of disqualifies two of them. Nevertheless:

Lumnati, The Riddling Masons
>Purpose: Create interesting architecture - especially building manses for us
>Secondary purpose: Golem-type defensive combatant
>Tertiary purpose: Geomancy manipulation
These powerful spirit-form creatures are made for the construction of buildings and manses. Intangible in their natural state, they are able to dive into rock and animate it, shaping and levitating it as they wish, then leaving the remolded stone behind and leaping into the earth once more. Naturally talented in shape-shifting, they can create a statue in mere moments, and can shapeshift into a small house in not much longer time. (If the building is bigger than the volume a Riddling Mason can comfortably hold, they add one structural element at a time.)
Lumnati prefer organic shapes in the architecture they make, describing corners and straight lines as 'itchy'.
A Lumnatus' body always bears writing describing its thoughts, though this is hard to see other than when it is animating stone. Anything a Lumnatus makes by shifting is thus by necessity inscribed in some manner, though this need not be overtly visible.
If left to their own devices, Lumnati delight in riddling their creatio

Big same, dude. Moot Point doesn't interest me anywhere near as much as Book of Worms, Conspiracy of Wasps, and to a lesser extent Sunfish did. I respect the direction Toxoglossa has taken over the last few years, and support him wholeheartedly in all his endeavors, but as a fan... I can't help but be disappointed.

Because I am in always in danger of too much of a positive outlook*,
I've decided to post in remembrance of some quests that were too pure for this world.

Some died ignobly before they hit their stride, others just couldn't sustain their greatness.
All are currently housed in the Graveyard tab right now.
* That's a joke, son

Tit's Quest
>Doomed by factors beyond it's control, appropriately locked in an escape from Hell itself

A Tale of Two Worlds
>Gate without boob jokes (so far), you rewarded us for diplomacy, and had a cast too large for me to remember.
>The elves didn't even get a chance to ruin everything, unless they went very meta.

Hammer Imp (and Origins)
> Just a dynamo of zany interactivity and animation, as insane protagonists go, yours was a diamond in the rough.

Date
> With a crazy amount of effort per update, including multiple brightly colored panels, this one was clearly defying gravity.
>It was great cartoony fun while it lasted!

1/2, more to come in next update.

Just popping by to say I'm still alive (there will be cake), it's just that I've been diverting the majority of my focus towards trying to make a game these past months. So that, coupled with trying to refresh myself after too many art and idea blocks led to an impromptu long hiatus.
I'm hoping that I'll continue to quest here with you guys sometime after July, I've been hoarding ideas for the rat's nest that is Ouroboros Parable (maybe a bit of short side quest), and hopefully continue Bord Quest until the first thread's done.
Can't wait until I can thaw all dat quest!
And remember your task, Baxter.

I'll give a mention to the old Mudy Quest.

Despite the ...interesting directions it began going in, I remember being super hooked on its plot and characters... and then it stopped.

The disappointment I felt was so strong that it was a major factor in my desire to ensure I never put someone else through the same thing.

So it's thanks to Mudy quest that I get to do the following:

So are all the aminal people of one unified species of beastfolk or is there specific names for each grouping of rodent/equine/reptile/etcs.
>>

>>123099
the Pawree are one species, their appearance is determined by their upbringing and experience through life. They technically do not count as beastfolk due to how they were created

While their segregation do foster difference in culture, there are no set rules for their design but outside influences does affect how they turn out.

So basically, as the Pawree age they gain more features and become more elaborate design wise until eventually they grow wings.

A lot of discussion's come up in the latest DiveQuest chapter so I wanted to clarify some things here without diverting the action of the thread itself.

This whole reorganizational thing, facilitated by the character of Ashedel, is not really a retcon of anything, just a reorganization.
I mentioned that I was so frustrated by and not at all enjoying Divequest that I was on the verge of just outright canceling it, but instead I made some big changes to its overall theme and drive, and one of my biggest changes is ripping out all the micromanagement. That wasn't fun and several people told me they weren't able to keep up with the quest solely because of the bloated inventories and mana management, and I was inclined to agree. Simple is better.
Other changes include the way puzzles are handled, the general focus and scale, social interactions between the characters, and so on.
Mostly, as you can probably tell by now, DiveQuest is supposed to be pretty over the top and tongue-in-cheek, and I wanted to change the flow of the quest to better fit that. As it was, the puzzles and pacing too closely matched RubyQuest, which didn't really work for Dive.

Major changes include more focus on the characters, more dynamic puzzles, more agency on the part of the players, more of an over-the-top aesthetic, a generally smaller scale in terms of Muschio's minions (so that each of them can have their own personality), less stuff that takes itself too seriously, and so on. You get the basic idea.
The goal here is to make it more accessible, fast-paced, entertaining, somewhat silly, and open for new players.

That doesn't mean this is going to turn into a Harem quest or that there's not going to be more profuse amounts of violence, nor that everything will be RANDOM AND WACKY, nor that there will be no serious moments interspersed.
Just that the previous incarnation of DiveQuest was t

Hey man what's happening

Thread: https://tgchan.org/kusaba/quest/res/878728.html

I am Baobao and this is my first thing. I'm a big fan of the Xianxia/Wuxia genres (also known as the 'Chinese martial arts' genre) and look forward to showing some of their concepts off in Jiayou. Because a lot of the terms are foreign I figured I would need a place to explain them better. Nice to meet you!

P.S, is it too early to make one of these?

(Also, I'm such an idiot. I forgot to put the subject the first time I made this thread so I deleted it. I'm sorry!)

I'm not dead!!!!! I promise!!!!

Sorry for the long, random pause, life caught up to me really a lot and among other things my graphics tablet isn't working. I could very well just do text updates, but I want to update at my best for the next scene/update. I'm not sure when, so I can't give a rough estimate, but know that I will absolutely do so as soon as possible.

Yes, this is going to be either depressing or horrifying. You have been warned.
