Yo, Riotmode here! In light of the name change push here I figured I'd just take the next logical step and push for an actual website redesign entirely.

And I'll probably pay for it too, because despite just lurking for a few years now I still have fond feelings for this place.
(I'm expecting it to be anywhere between 500-1200 dollars, depending, so there may be some scrounging needed before I can commit.)

So, here's the game plan!

step 1:
-compile a list of necessary features (user ID system, agreeable formatting, suggestion boxes, spoiler tagging, etc)

-compile a secondary list of features that would be nice (Tagging system for quest genres ((Sci-fi, porn, fantasy, etc)), different viewer modes, etc.)

step 3:
-put out some leads with website development folks, find out what kinda budget I need to achieve the ideal website as agreed upon by the users

Don't worry too much about that, this is a site improvement thread mostly and you're accomplishing improvements. Just gotta get dylan to hard-bake some of this stuff into the site proper.

ANYHOW, update:
life threw a curveball, this is on the backburner for a bit. Still working on some ideas in my head, but finding a better job and covering some really gnarly sudden car bullshit comes first.

I may be willing to throw money at this place to make it better but I can't be doin' it at my own expense, lol

For what it's worth, I have asked Dylan a few times to make the site open source so that I (a professional full stack web developer) can contribute to it. Not a ground up redesign, that would be an insane months long project, but stuff like showing replies in the post and integrating that Quest Reader plugin.

Topical: better management of the random bots that always show up.

Also perhaps the ability to move the message bar to the bottom of the screen so you dont have to keep jumping from the bottom and top to check for current info when commenting

Geez, I’ve forgotten to answer these.

>Imagine if, rather than having this being an accurate record of the time before mortals, each race had their own version of the creation myth associated to their sense of being or identity.
There’s a reason why it says “as told by Pesi the Skull” at the start, just saying :V

>If I may, can I know the reason why the main NSFW quest is on break?
At the start, I just felt like working on something else. Recently it was because I wanted to finish Passage first. Right now I’m actually planning on updating it again soon, though I might do a few more updates to Scion and Leaves first.
>Maybe it's just me, but maybe you should bite the bullet and start a new thread for it.
Wait, are you talking about the main LL quest or just the quest discussion thread? If the former, the current thread is almost done, I just need to find the drive to finish it off. If it is the second, the whole reason why I merged all the dis threads was because they barely saw any use in the first place and I didn’t want to clog down the dis page too much. Might be prudent to split it into themes, though. One for the lewd vore fantasy, one for the lewd space stuff and one for the non-lewd stuff. I’ll consider it.

>The gods are seasons, Ptamet is Fall, Wjares is Winter, Volek is Spring (obviously), that makes Talos Summer. Wouldn't Talos make a nice summer god?
They are already themed by seasons, just not the four we’re used to. Instead, they are based on the three seasons used by ancient Egypt, with Volek being Emergence (When the ground is fertile and the seeds are planted), Ptamet being Harvest (self-explanatory) and finally Wjares being Inudation (When the Nile floods the plains and destroy everything in its path, but leaving fertile s

'S OK. It's not like I'm fast to form replies, either. The relevant bit of Egyptian trivia IS appreciated.

>are you talking about the main LL quest or just the quest discussion thread?
It's the latter, and I do think you can pick up where you left off. To be honest, though, I was hoping for a place to discuss possible fetishes without it being weird, as well as a repository for possibly lewd fan art.
Flockload has great fanart. I'm just saying, Lord Triti.

>Talos will take the domains that his worshipers bestow upon him. Pesi even tried to suggest rebirth, but the suggesters chose being diplomatic instead.
Everyone wants the harem route, but tis' a path one must really, really, really, really, REALLY commit to. I guess that makes Talos a god of Love and Passion? Technically, that means we have to empathize with Neferi's perspective, assuming we can convince her to not walk over us (unless we want to) and make a convert out of her. She does seem to have a Predator mentality, after all. If Sebak has Prey mentality, they'd almost be a perfect match.

>the next one will probably not be based on Fire Emblem.
Disappointed we won't have characters sharing rings with each other to connect with the spirits/AI of past heroes. But seriously, I meant something like bonuses (or penalties) with certain characters working together. I do like having my characters bond and develop into closer relationships with each other. The power of shipping compells me.

Just to geek out for a moment, the "tarot" was originally a playing card game, but it wasn't poker. It was a game in Italy in the 14th century with rules similar to Bridge, and Mamluk cards from Turkey. The very artsy cards commissioned by Italian aristocracy did quickly inspire people to use them for storytelling purposes, in a game known as “tarocchi appropriati,” where they would draw random cards, and write poetry about the other players, based on what they drew. Eventually that morphed into the fortune telling we know today.

A lot of discussion's come up in the latest DiveQuest chapter so I wanted to clarify some things here without diverting the action of the thread itself.

This whole reorganizational thing, facilitated by the character of Ashedel, is not really a retcon of anything, just a reorganization.
I mentioned that I was so frustrated by and not at all enjoying Divequest that I was on the verge of just outright canceling it, but instead I made some big changes to its overall theme and drive, and one of my biggest changes is ripping out all the micromanagement. That wasn't fun and several people told me they weren't able to keep up with the quest solely because of the bloated inventories and mana management, and I was inclined to agree. Simple is better.
Other changes include the way puzzles are handled, the general focus and scale, social interactions between the characters, and so on.
Mostly, as you can probably tell by now, DiveQuest is supposed to be pretty over the top and tongue-in-cheek, and I wanted to change the flow of the quest to better fit that. As it was, the puzzles and pacing too closely matched RubyQuest, which didn't really work for Dive.

Major changes include more focus on the characters, more dynamic puzzles, more agency on the part of the players, more of an over-the-top aesthetic, a generally smaller scale in terms of Muschio's minions (so that each of them can have their own personality), less stuff that takes itself too seriously, and so on. You get the basic idea.
The goal here is to make it more accessible, fast-paced, entertaining, somewhat silly, and open for new players.

That doesn't mean this is going to turn into a Harem quest or that there's not going to be more profuse amounts of violence, nor that everything will be RANDOM AND WACKY, nor that there will be no serious moments interspersed.
Just that the previous incarnation of DiveQuest was t

I don't check poster ids when collecting suggestion results/writing updates! that would be way too much to keep track of for me lmao, plus ids can change very frequently for a lot of reasons (posting from different places, using cellular/mobile data, etc). i just rely on you guys to let me know if you're specifically cashing in on ur individual hops, in the content of ur replies. in cases where someone goes inactive like this i kind of subtly shift it back to majority rule: i left the geist hanging there bc there had been a few suggestions expressing approval of having the iv drip of intel, and for example now there are some suggestions wanting that geist retrieved and so they'll get yoinked next update.

Run for your lives (and for your wardrobe)! It's the END Times (Embarrassed Nude Day Times) for Questden!

In this thread on this day or throughout the next month, or whenever, create embarrassed nude male/female (ENM/ENF) artwork(s) of any quest character(s) you like!

Art can be as simple as you want (no background or background characters, just an embarrassed nude pose) or as ambitious as you want (background, multiple characters, small comic or short story along with drawing, or multiple pic sequences) and characters can be any gender. As long as it is a quest character, naked, and ashamed of their nudity, it's all good!

Also, Thread will be definitely NSFW, but if any naughty bits are showing, remember to spoiler the image just to be safe.

(TITLE CARD DRAWN BY HIMITSU, THANKYOU!!)

Hey there! A bit late to the party, but I had some thoughts on theme I wanted to share. Arhra's certainly done a fine job cultivating an environment that entices the mind (and I have bitten very hard into, apologies in advance for the long post). I reread the entirety of the Quest (which at this point has become a decade spanning epic, really incredible stuff) and saw that Deem had this reoccuring frustration over theming. She desires something that will 'stir the heart'. Naturally, this has been something of an issue considering her start from nothing and slow accumulation of resources. That's led to a chaotic variety of influences and desires, disrupting attempts at continuity and theming. But what's incredible is that there is something that connects almost all of the dungeons denizens together, an emergent theme that touches every soul save for Moriko and Chakarchelou (though I have some small ideas there).

I'd been thinking of how to make a consistent theme work and the troublemakers had always been Reisarf and Stargazer. Their unique elements contrasted with every scenario I conjured, demanding that they adapt or that the rest of the cast yield to their influence. But with this chapter's newest reveal, it is they who have adapted to the element that unites the hearts of the rest. The fruiting bodies created by the ambitious duo mark not just an adaptation to the newest aspects of the dungeon. They yield an independent interest. Reisarf is his usual passive self, but the insight into Stargazer is extremely important. 'Stargazer wanted to see a miracle.' Ambition! And while the souls of the rest of the case may differ in slight ways, this ambition is a shared one.

Merud with his constant push to not only further his knowledge of golems, but to cast aside the taboos of his teacher and society! Alkaline's hunger for independence and experimentation! Why, the very thing that lured Hin to yo

Dolan's not been depicted in any canon pics since he was captured, has he? I'm curious about what happened with him being as he's the only freedom fighter who's not popped up or been mentioned since the first chapter ended.

Okay, so at this point, I feel like the stuff I drew might actually be significant enough to warrant discussion. But still not nearly important enough for each to have its own thread, this board is crowded enough as it is. So have another all-inclusive, author-based discussion thread. Current topic: whatever I updated last.

>These are exactly the same studies which are used in our own world to make these determinations, and are undertaken by similar agencies. Only the timeline differs.
This actually doesn't work. To give an example, in our world, in order to prove that a company needs to pay tens of millions to, say, clean up a river, all you need to show is that they were discharging polychlorinated biphenyls into the river, that the concentration of said PCBs is above the legally mandated allowed levels in said river, and that no one else is discharging them; ergo, the company is breaking the law and have to pay. In Flora's world, not only do you have to prove all that, you also have to conduct health studies or environmental studies in the region fed by the river which show beyond reasonable doubt that specific detrimental effects have emerged since the discharge began, and then further prove beyond all reasonable doubt that said effects are a direct result of the PCB discharge rather than any of the other myriad of factors that the defense will drag in to confuse the issue, some of which might very well be substantial contributors to the same or similar problems.

It's comparatively easy to show that someone broke the letter of a law. Proving beyond reasonable doubt that they actually caused significant harm? That is much, much harder, and requires much more research and far more compelling evidence. Said research and evidence costs money.

>I just decided that corporate lawsuits of this nature are required to go to trial in no less than two years, and even delaying that long requires significant legal tap-dancing. so :p

sounds good, if ALL companies have to cough up a fuckload of cash for doing something they will be VERY careful to make sure they aren't doing something harmful or spend a ton of money to cover it up. also have to remember OTHER companies are using this way to take out the competitors so some of the prices. also the defence has to be ready in two years, you don't make a claim unless you are ALREADY sure your case is good, meaning the defense is the one who must prepare and so they are the ones who stall for time meaning that yes they have to pay the penalty cause they are trying to take to long.

First of all, OOOOOH, I see how we are envisioning this differently. No, proving that a chemical or drug is harmful is not a major part of a court case. That is done with testing in independent labs. An expert witness reporting on the effects of PCB exposure on lab rats and how difficult it is to break down would usually suffice. If there are multiple widely conflicting studies, then things might get interesting, but the court case is usually just a matter of "look, these are the measured levels we think you are responsible for, the scientists tell us it is X arbitrary badness units, what do you have to say for yourselves?"

>They're required to go to trial in two years... or else what?
Just like a criminal trial. The court date is set, you can appeal for change of date maybe twice, and if you don't show up ready, the judge rules in favor of the other side.

>management assures them that it's fairly standard and that no company has ever been prosecuted for using their methods
If management was this shortsighted, then yes, they would pretty much doom the town, and themselves as well. That's the idea. It's an incentive for the company to figure out what a new substance does ahead of time.

>Ex post facto taxes are an utterly terrifying thing.
Yes. This IS horrifying. Sort of the point really.

I never said this system would be a great idea and we should totes be using it. I said it's a system that *almost* works. But it's a system that has resulted more than half of the children born since 1970 being mutated in some minor way.

>An expert witness reporting on the effects of PCB exposure on lab rats and how difficult it is to break down would usually suffice.
That certainly makes things a hell of a lot easier- though in many cases, those studies with lab rats would have to be conducted specifically for the case, potentially requiring a couple years of testing on the part of the prosecution or their affiliates. It's fairly rare that animals are experimentally exposed to various levels of specific industrial wastes in order to measure the effects, after all.

Fortunately, this is exactly the sort of research that would attract corporate backing, which can easily circle around to tie in with the inter-company competition bit that you were bringing up- because a company who bankrolls it can not only use the results as a weapon against their competitors, they can also design their own next industrial process to skirt in just under the line of what their study's results declare harmful and thereby have a reasonable rationale for their own level of pollution if they get charged in turn.

>If management was this shortsighted, then yes, they would pretty much doom the town, and themselves as well. That's the idea.
The number of companies that are willing to look more than five years ahead is... very small. Hell, a lot of them- particularly those which are publicly held- aren't willing to look more than one or two years ahead. The drive to raise stock value is huge.

Something that occurs to me here is this: By the time the court case rolls around, it's possible- even likely- that the vast majority of those who were involved in the original construction and operation of the plant will have retired or o

Just wanted to test out making a comment here before committing to the main thread. This looks like 4chan in the formatting but I've never used that site before lol.

Anyways, assuming this works as I hope, I wanted to let you know that this is a REALLY interesting idea and I cant wait to see where it goes! Interactive storytelling is always so fun, and this premise is especially captivating. Have you written other works of horror before or is this your first project?

Thank you so much! To answer your question, I've definitely written things that at least contained horror elements (I have previous quests on this website that either were outright horror or just had the elements, but I don't feel especially confident pointing people at my old work, it has a lot of flaws). Most recently I ran an ARG which had a lot in common with my quest writing and also contained a lot of those elements, although I would describe that project as more "dark fantasy" than anything else.

Which is all to say "yes and no." I'm not usually able to resist including horror elements in my work, but I think this is the first project that I would consider firmly within the genre that I've done in a long time, and definitely the only one I'd feel happy about pointing people at, haha.
