I've been on and off of Questden since my Freshmen year of college in 2016, when I posted my first Quest 'Art.'

It was pretty self-biographical and incredibly cringe, but hey it was something I made at one point so that's pretty funny!

Somedays I fantasize about just picking up where I left off with some of my really old quests, considering most of them made it aboooout, four updates before being totally abandoned.

Obviously this isn't a perfect metaphor, given how different this is from a pen and paper tabletop RPG, but let's say a level 9 warrior have 100 health- a critical hit guarantees you do damage, but 2d8+2 still isn't that much off the top as compared to say, 1d8+2. Clearly this is still a social encounter, and the dice system works a bit differently, but it makes sense to me that a single crit doesn't instantly solve everything- just diffuses the results of Vos fumbling a roll, and putting cap on edge. Maru is currently waiting on Viste to make the decisions as to how to proceed; if she were in charge she probably would have tried to cut off his leg so he can't run away anymore, and hauled him back to the ship to get locked in a dark box where no one can see or talk to him. Her little speech was really more for herself, and everyone else than for cap- even if you don't like what's going on, trust that the boss- Davina, and Viste as an extension of Davina's will, are handling the situation, and don't make any stupid decisions, no matter how much you want to kill the guy in front of you and wipe your hands of this whole mess. She's telling herself and Vos that they should trust Viste, and telling Viste that she's upset, but she's doing her best to keep it in check and let her handle it instead of subverting her authority and forcing her to manage cap and 3 other people.

I would imagine we want him to come back to the ship peacefully, but honestly? It doesn't seem like a good idea to keep carrying him around, too much risk compared to the reward. We've seen the captain would be capable, under the right circumstances, of executing everyone on the ship and stealing it. The sorceress, if given the choice, would probably not be sentimental enough to turn down such an opportunity. Not sure what the boss thinks but Maru is skeptical that there's something worthwhile to risk keeping him around

Hello folks,

Just offering a formal apology for the quest's slow start. I have been out of the game for a while, and I am neither the writer nor the artist I once was. It may take some time for me to achieve the original quality of the quest again, or it may simply never happen.

I a demanding job with a 24/7 beat and am trying my hardest to be creative/productive outside of that. I am also addressing concerns that the original quest was heavily railroaded, and offering more opportunities for suggester input to steer the direction of the story.

I have a doubt. How are aurorans without armor? The tail looks dog-like or weasel-like, but the faces looks more rodent. Maybe they are not based in any animal specie? or I didn't get they well?

Aurorans are based on various types of martens (martens being mustelids, the same family as weasels)! For example, Arvin is a beech marten, Falken is a sable, Silur is a fisher cat, and Marisere is a pine marten.

I could have done a better job of making it clearer. Unfortunately, demands on my time and energy mean that I often can't devote as much attention to individual update images as I would like. I also only started seriously applying myself to art just over a year ago - I'm hoping that as I gain skill this will show in my updates as well.

Meanwhile, the Tetrapisans are definitely not meant to be based on any animal in particular. This is because they can customise their synthetic body's appearance as desired; no-one's truly sure what an unaltered Tetrapisan would look like. However, individuals may resemble species such as dogs, (furred) dragons, etc.

Can I get a clarification on how Improved Pack Mentality works? It looks like it's Pack Mentality but it applies the buff to the entire group instead of just the unit with the trait. Does it have a penalty when the unit is alone, like the lesser trait? I'd guess it doesn't give penalties to allies when they're not nearby.

Yeah, I need to reword it.

"This troop and all adjacent allies gain a bonus to Calm and Aim as long as they are adjacent."

No penalties unless they'd have both traits.

That sounds really good! Though I suppose in most missions we're spreading out to use cover.

Anyway. You probably noticed DR halted. That's cause I've been dealing with a pretty disruptive health issue that still isn't all the way better.

But it's a lot of the way better, so I'll be restarting the quest probably in early JANUARY... assuming I don't get worse like I did the last time I said I'd try to start back up.

I lost most of 2020 because... 2020, and I lost like 4 months of 2021 due to health

Thought of a plan to have Fletch or Grutter survive.

Ok so assuming the Catalysts goals are:
-Kill Fletch and Grutter
-Recover the stolen money

We need the money first, then the plan can begin.

I was thinking that Fletch takes the money/half of it if Grutter is present. The two then separate, possibly ending their relationship as partners in crime. Going full no contact.

What Grutter does is completely up in the air. Maybe he fights the catalyst with the resources available or goes along with what I think Fletch should do. Leaving Port Echo.

Fletch uses some of his money to get something to better disguise himself: cosmetic surgery, good hologram tech, or some means to disrupt surveillance. He'd either do this before he leaves Port Echo or does it sometime after leaving Port Echo. Chance of getting caught. We need him to cover up that scar he has.

Regardless of the decision he needs to get off world to places unknown. Head to a random destination and take several connection shuttles to a place deemed safe. Still a chance for things to go wrong.

So I'm just curious as to what everyone wants after The Vitruvian. I've been having up-and-down feelings about my quests gaining traction--and I have discussed this to some friends and authors which, admittingly, plot-driven stories are less engaging than character-driven ones. I do like to set the stage and sequence of events that could amaze and surprise my readers, so yeah, I can see that even with a plethora of choices it may end up as a Telltale Game where some choices may lead to the same conclusion (unless there's some outside-the-box thinking). On some good news, I really didn't expect Fletch to survive the store encounter due to some amazing wit. At the moment I'm improvising everything and excited about where this is all going. But there'll be obstacles conveniently placed in every character's way to see how you guys tackle it. A quest where you play everyone but one character hasn't been done before, and is quite risky because an audience could easily become attached to characters (good or bad) who may die in the next minute. This might discourage some people if this happens time and again. This concept would, of course, probably be best on a quest with no death. I base The Vitruvian on a Coen brother's film like Fargo or No Country For Old Men, and Breaking Bad where people can end up in the wrong place at the wrong time.

There are tons of other things I would need to improve before the next quest/thread which I don't have the room to mention at this moment, but onwards to the poll! This is multiple choice, so you may vote for more than one quest prompt in the link.

I very much liked Team Port Echo myself, especially the art style which I find nostalgically reminiscent of mid 2000s sci-fi webcomics for some reason
Suggestions don’t seem to be an accurate metric for actual readership, from what I understand; while I can only speak for myself, I only suggest when I have a particularly good idea or funny comment (or it at least seems that way to me) and tend to abstain from saying anything otherwise. Even classics like Advocate got just two or three suggestions per update when they were running.

Some quests, like Salikai for example, seem to me to have a high suggestion-to-reader ratio because of a combination of high stakes and open-ended issues, resulting in more people stating their own unique solutions, criticizing others’ suggestions and debating in the thread. Mind, they probably have the same number of readers as other quests, it’s just that more readers feel they should make a suggestion. So overall, I wouldn’t worry myself about the number of suggestions too much, there’s just no way to tell how accurate it reflects the number of people reading
