Talk about that one quest with the sad-looking cat here. Just try not to embarrass Andrew too much.

Hey there, audience! Another long wait again, sure none of you are surprised by this point. I'll be trying to update HALL tomorrow as soon as I got time. I got a job semi-recently and have been just tryin' to figure out my schedule and all that.

There's a chance all updates will be pretty slow for the time being though, thanks to there being an awful lot up in the air right now. It's also possible for them to be really fast, but that depends on the energy I have when I get home from work (which at the moment? Very little haha)

Don't worry, Andrew and Konoe are still goin' down that... chute... thing...with the weird gravity. I'll make sure I get *something* done with it at least.

I'm sorry to say this, but I don't think I'll be updating HALL anymore. Or really working on Quests either. I dunno if I'd call it an indefinite hiatus or just a dead quest, but I've not been feeling great lately and have had no energy to continue working on this.

Perhaps when I'm feeling better and more motivated I'll continue, but for now, I really don't think I can manage that. I might also just do some small quests before I get back into HALL should I get the urge to do Quests again.

Sorry to anyone who might've been interested in my works, or was patiently waiting for the next update. I'll start to get more active on my drawthread again though, hopefully that'll at least sort of make up for it at least.

I'm sorry you've been feeling lousy lately, and I hope you manage to recover from it and feel better soon. The most important thing is that you do what's best for your own well-being; if that means putting HALL on indefinite and perhaps permanent hiatus, then so be it. I'll miss it, since I thought it was a pretty cool quest; but questing should be fun for everyone involved, and if you aren't having a good time with it anymore then I wholly agree with your decision to stop updating it.

Sorry to hear you're not feeling up to making quests anymore. It was a fun ride while it lasted, but in the end, you have to do what is best for yourself.

I remember participating in your quests since AvatarPace back in... wow! 2015. Those were fun memories.

Whatever future endeavors you pursue at this point, you'll have our support. In any case, I hope you feel better

It's a lot easier to keep interest in small quests long enough to finish them, so that's a good idea.

Strip poker adventures in the 21st century!

Download: http://tgchanpoker.sourceforge.net/

This Python-based strip poker game boasts the following features:

-Runs on all Windows machines with no modifications or hassle! Linux/OSX can run the source code version.
-Poker Module Assembler so that people unfamiliar with coding (i.e. artists) can make opponents on their own!
-An unlimited number of potential lines for each character! Type out as many as you want, and the game will select randomly from them!
-Extensive native scripting support to customize and add advanced features to each module! Make your character's dialogue change depending on their state of undress! Change between sets of images depending on how well the user is playing! Change the opponent's name as they reveal their true form! The sky is the limit!
-Customizable GUI and cards! Each module can even come with its own set of cards!
-Up to 5 opponents, playing simultaneously!
-The user can play as one of the characters!
-Supports images of any size (technically)!
-Character images can be stored securely in a .DAT file! Just throw a .ZIP into the converter!
-A multitude of options inside the game's settings allow you to customize your play!
-40+ modules created by tgchan artists included with the download!
-Fully open source!

If you find any bugs in the program, please post them in this thread with a link to a Pastebin containing the contents of stderr.log and stdout.log. This is essential for repro and debugging on my end.

NOTE: If you share this program with another community, please link to it in this thread so I can see any bugs they report.

QUESTERS OF THE WORLD, UNITE! YOU HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE BUT YOUR CHAINS!

Comrades, I bring great news. The petite bourgeois will soon fall, and the aristocracy will be replaced by a glorious dictatorship of the proletariat. Soon we will be truly free of our bonds, free to author in the morning, suggest in the afternoon, discuss in the evening, and shitpost after dinner- all without ever becoming author, suggester, critic or poster. Friends, it is with our final goal of peaceful revolution and freedom for all in mind that I, Comrade Олень, declare May First to be AGITPROP DAY. Do not listen to revisionists and counterrevolutionaries who may tell you otherwise! Unite, stand strong, and be free!

Given the length and general chaos of the previous thread, I want to start fresh with a place where people can voice their concerns directly to me. A lot of readers have been unhappy with the quest as of late, and I feel the need to address these in order to make it more enjoyable. I do this entirely for fun, so I want people to have fun participating in it.

I accept responsibility for the current problems in the storytelling, and want to hear from the readers so that I can at least try to put out the fires before the quest is over. Being the author of it, I feel I have the most power to affect the direction of the quest in a positive way!

Memes and porn are still welcome, obviously.

I'm really sorry it died, but it lost so much direction and I couldn't get it back. I tried again on anonkun but I lost internet for one session and then everyone stopped reading. It is not meant to be, one of those cursed concepts, sort of things.

Not trying to be a downer but the way your quests are (you know, all long and heavily worded) I doubt making a new one (as in a new story) would be quite taxing for anyone. Many authors here have a hard enough time running one, so I'd suggest you bide your time for now.

If that's going to be a reoccurring problem then there's no harm to your pride in saying that you need more time or can't finish a quest because of real life issues. In case anyone was unaware (I certainly was!), this quest is actually technically completed. Here's the ending, from the author's page:

Oh.

Sabby helped Lairehfsis get her body corpsebound by her family. Helped patch up things between their Romeo and Juliet-butt families mostly by accident and got on both their good sides. Carried on a bit further down south. Helped Doctor Mantis become accepted for the medical GENIUS he clearly was. Finally convinced the Geofahn bug to get off her butt through speechifying and appealing to his own insecurities.

Eventually arranged for a dream conversation with Tabaxian. Sabby was always being pushed by suggestions towards seizing control of her own life and living on her own terms and answering to no one. Being her own dog. She was done running.

Explained she was taking her own route in life. He accused her of being selfish. She said having to give up her life for everyone else was basically the same. They argued. They finally stopped arguing. And he let her go. House Geofahn backed off. House Geofahn absorbed House Tashikoxix by artifact of their expansion anyway, so most of the ghosts were saved, although Sabby's mother didn't end up with any kind of real political clout and is still pretty miserable.

And with that sorted out, she and Maexiks sorted out their own problems. Most of Sabby's suggestions were understanding if a little creeped out. She eventually forgave Maexiks and encouraged her to ditch that fart-butt town if she hated it so much and stop being a depresso and come hang out.

She did.

Hello everyone. This may sound a little strange, but please bear with me. To get straight to the point, for a long time, I've wanted to make a long, detailed video about questing, and I need your help with information. I cannot make this video any time soon, due to uni taking up most of my time, but it is a plan I have currently. I have several questions about quests and the websites regarding them that I would like to have answered, and since I wasn't around until quite late, it's difficult to find answers for many things. Questing and the unique method of story telling and on-the-fly artwork that accompany of it are something that I find greatly interesting, and the fact that there is so little documentation on it (practically no videos at all, with only a few wiki pages describing the basics of what it is) is something I feel is a huge shame. Despite me being somewhat of a newb to the whole thing, I believe I could make a decent video detailing a summary of what questing is and its history, its online influence over the years, and information on some of the more historically significant quests. But again, I need your help. I would have made this thread later on, but I have started to worry that with each month I don't, more of the people who have been here for a long time may leave, and it'll be harder to get answers.

To give a bit of backstory on myself, I am not deep into questing myself, largely because I missed it in its heyday. About 5 or so years ago way honestly the first time I actually read a Quest. Rubyquest. I actually learned about Weaver through his other artwork, learned about Rubyquest from his website, and then learned about quests through Rubyquest, though I haven't been active over these few years (again, study and stuff). I've read pretty much everything from Weaver as well as Reaver, as well as a few of the shorter random stories here and there. I'm also working my way through a few of the &

The quest in question was this
https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/mon-of-the-dead-quest.242998/
Though it might have been a later thread that triggered the ban that created QQ, you’d have to double check.

At the time the QM was running other more prominent quests like
https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/witch-quest.232691/
https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/azula-quest.246137/
Probably some others too.

For more information i’d ask one of the QQ staff that was around from the beginning. They’re pretty chill people, if you explain what you are doing one of them will probably explain in detail.

>You'll find a fairly in-depth article on that history here by a veteran quester.
FWIW, that was me. :D

By the same token, I might be "vetean" but I'm also EXTREMELY out of the game. (Even though I technically finished a quest a week ago :V )

I wouldn't trust myself as a source very far beyond what I wrote in the essay. One thing that pushed me to write that essay was a desire to write down what I knew before I forgot it. I haven't really been keeping up with questing since 2014.

I'm not sure if MSPFA died when I made the original chart, but it should definitely reflect it now.

Actually, remind me, what year did it die?

By the way, something that was mentioned in the replies to that essay was how Spacebattles had text-based proto-quests which actually predated Problem Sleuth, though they really failed to gain any traction. However, it might be worth mentioning since SB later turned into a huge text-questing site via cross-pollination from /tg/.
(Its "Roleplaying, Quests, & Story Debates" subforum has 8 million posts(!) However, only a portion of those are actual quests, because the forum owners hate quests and won't give them a subforum for some reason.

Seriously, it's nuts how big the community exploded despite actively hostile administration that keeps shoving it in corners.)

SB administration just seems hostile in general. I guess they're used to it.

The MSPA forum, which contained the Forum Adventure board, went down at the end of March 2016. However, the MSPFA site which was a seperate place that had the purpose of mirroring forum adventures, saw a huge increase in adventures being started there, even though there wasnt a way to send commands there. What started happening a lot was people hosted adventures there and used a discord server or the tumblr ask function or something else to get commands (theres a comment feature thats been added since then though). The Omegaupdate forum was also made as a stand-in when the MSPA forum died and it has a Forum Adventure board, but it sees way less use than MSPFA.
So basically, MSPA-inspired quests didn't exactly die when the MSPA forum closed, they just went through a big change. A lot of the older users went to Eagle Time or never returned afterwards, and I would consider Eagle Time distinct from MSPA stuff at this point.

Don't forget to take a fifteen minute break every hour while using your VR headset or you'll hurt your eyes!
Let me know what I'm doing right or wrong or whatever else you've got to say that isn't moving along the plot.

I cannot, the tablet requires more power than my Prius can safely supply. Even if I could, that sounds like a hastle..

I have places that I can draw NSFW arranged. The biggest obsticle is finding time.

Im saving up money and takeing all the work I can get. I want to "retire" as soon as I can, so I can focus more on my art and personal projects.

My goal is a mininum of 1 update per week.
No promises though.

Aaaand here's an official discussion thread at last. Here's where you can ask non plot-relevant worldbuilding questions, do extra strategizing, and I'll make inevitable excuses for why I haven't updated.

This time around, my update is late because I injured my back and my usual drawing posture is making it worse. Update will be up for real soon!

>> And holding people for ransom changes the whole tone of what we're doing.
>You'd have to ask Deem about that; better not to assume. Regardless of her reception to the idea, we can't pretend that we can do this without it being seen as an act of hostility by the neighboring populace. These sorts of decisions carry consequences. If we want to go ahead with this route that's alright, so long as we are prepared for their natural outcomes.
I really don't need Deem to tell me what tone I see our (potential) actions setting. And neither apparently do you, since you feel comfortable casting them as hostile and dangerous.

...also I think you rather missed the point, and are responding to a post expressing caution / skepticism as if it endorsed the idea in question.

Having containment procedures are important.
Correction: Having containment procedures beforehand is important. We need to know what is ideal, and what to avoid, before something happens and we're thrown into a situation with no briefing. Sort of like you and the pillar of light.

So, what is all that you have plugged into your head? And on that note, if you have a robotic brain now, can its contents be backed up or copied? Like, in case you get killed again, or become compromised, or go missing, or are in town for two hours and can't tell us where the snacks are until you get back?

Someone suggested posting this in /questdis/, so I am.

http://www2.tgchan.org/wiki/TGMUD

TGMUD is a text-based action/adventure game based on the CoffeeMUD engine, which is made in Java. It is currently developed by quest authors and the project is headed by Squeegy AKA John_Freeman. The areas are constantly expanding, new quests, enemies, and things to do are added daily, hourly, even minutely. An optional tutorial is fairly fleshed out, going through the basics of playing before releasing the player on the world with a few cautionary warnings.

The chat channel is #tgmud on irc.rizon.net. The game IP is tgmud.servegame.com, and the PORT is 23.

TGMUD is full of weird bugs and features that are in CoffeeMUD by default. If you see any, report them to The_Littlest_Emo, because he is the best with the TGMUD code.
