So is this quest official dead now?

I mean it wasn't updated in four months or something.
There's the April Fools thing I guess, doesn't have much in common with the original though.
One could also point out that we already have July.

uhm. My impression was that the only portion which was April Fools was the cat bit, and the latest chapter has as much in common with the others as they do with eachother. Which is to say, they probably take place on the same planet and that's about it.

>[Lohrkes] NEVER goes tot he surface: nothing of interest there.
This isn't strictly true, see e.g. the description of http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4555061/ (which is Lucid himself).

So while some of Imli's freakout might be culture shock, this isn't just the surface. For one thing, gravity has still gone AWOL.

33171

I've always considered that while Lohrke have perchant for technology and invention they are rather unlikely to become a space-faring race for simply psychological reasons. I can imagine 'sky/space madness' being a serious problem, all that oppressive emptiness, making it a rather un-attractive idea to most.

I also have a feeling Lazuhrek cannot 'into spess' if only becasue they can't see anything worth going for. It's a bit weird to imagine a species who never will see the stars. I mean, they could logically see the value in spreading the species across other worlds. However, the beauty of space, the stars, the nebula would be utterly lost on them.

Whoops, I'd forgotten about that.
For those interested, there has been at least one more fatality due to vacuum exposure, detailed in NASA CR-1223 (http://ntrs.nasa.gov/archive/nasa/casi.ntrs.nasa.gov/19690004637_1969004637.pdf) along with a whole pile of other information on the effects of rapid decompression.
>>
No. 33176 ID: 4e6eaf

well, if anything Lohrkes will be enslaved to work in space mines by space pirates if nothing else forces them out from their caves
>>
No. 33239 ID: a41aaf

>>342974
Interesting rake-away: death from sudden decompression is less likely due to asphyxiation, but rather from cardiac arrest: an effect similar to 'water hammer' causes vapour locks to form in the arterial system and the heart.

>derpan about "radiation" gun
It's not an (ionising) radiation gun, it's a maser ( >>/questarch/54769 ), albelit one with a nuclear powerpack. Since real-world masers are apparently low-power frequency references I'm guessing hers is supposed to be more of a microwave-oven-gun, given it cooks things ( >>/questarch/63211 ).

The steam when she fires it is probably atmospheric moisture in the beam's path vapourising. That's not going to work for propulsion.
>>
No. 34079 ID: 180ec2

>>343863
Technically, photon radiation does provide some miniscule force. Photons have a momentum, and thus emitting them provides a reaction force. For most cases, such as this, this is not enough to do anything with.
>>
No. 34080 ID: 2563d4

>>
No. 34082 ID: a41aaf

A canteen filled with water, taped to the front of the MASER on a low/moderate power setting should act as simply thruster.
However, trying to manoeuvre in a microgravity environment, with no prior training, with a single unwieldy propulsion source? Bad idea.

There's still some atmosphere left, so a sheet of fabric used as a fan would be enough to waft towards the nearest wall without generating enough linear/angular velocity to cause injury.

Can you give some info about the Kathartes?
I guess it was for best that Cheren didn't risk attacking them, being captured and upgraded with mechanical parts.
Well, most likely it was for the best anyways.
But they seemed pretty interesting.
>>
No. 50577 ID: fcf52d

Yes they were, and I was for approaching them. A certain Heshka had probably had dealings with them before, course Cheren wouldn't know that...

Whats the state of the occupied territory that we are in? Do the bolds enforce law and to what extent? Seeing as the Kathartes are going down the road in plain sight in a slow ass wagon (compared to cars) I'm assuming they are tolerated by the bolds.

There probably wouldn't have been much capturing going on if they'd attacked.
Not giving any more info on them, you'll have to wait for another one to turn up.

>>360377
Out in the borderlands where Cheren is there's no law to speak of, the cutebolds roll though in armed convoys every now and again. They aren't generally looking for targets but they won't ignore one if it shows up.
There's usually a garrison of sorts in controlled towns as well.
