Got it, we'll start there.
>Doomscrolling
SnakeEye. It's some dumb app that tracks local news and events. It's like a local social media thing.

After that I'll watch some videos and then shower before going out. I kinda want to take a walk and get my mind off what happened yesterday.

>Charlotte checks her messages.
Oh...my two favourite people. Who do I check first?

>Why did you say it out loud...!?
Now the next mind monster can't threaten to reveal your secret.
And besides, there's nothing shameful about it. Really, it would be more embarrassing to be caught stealing them from someone else. So whoever robbed your house certainly can't use them against you.
Unless they're really big and heavy. But you've got a crowbar, so you'll still come out on top.
I stand by my choice of words.

>>1127828
Well... which one do you think would be worse? Best to get it out of the way first so you'll have more time to de-stress.

what is the UI of your phone? Jeez Louise.

But yeah, check messages to see if it's anything you should know about or just random talk and if you're still not done eating put on some funny videos you can half pay attention to while you finish your cereal.

Yeah that's probably the best idea right now...

>Why can't your Aunt come to you?
>Red Flags
My Aunt's already upset with me, I can tell by the fact that she took the time to text me. If she has to come here herself she's gonna be even more pissed off...

>What are you going to wear?
I was thinking purple sweater with sweat pants. They'll never see it coming.

>Charlotte takes a deep breath before calling her Mom. The phone rings a few times before...
"Charlotte? Sweetie? Are you okay?"

Y-Yeah Mom, I'm fine...I just woke up.

"Listen honey, I'm sorry about what happened yesterday, I just want to make sure that you're safe. We all do."

I know Mom...I'm sorry I yelled at you. Uh, do you know why Aunt Carol is texting me today?

"Your Aunt is texting you? What did she say?"

That...she wanted me to come see her, I think it's just about my medical stuff?

"She wants you to go to City Hall?"

Yeah...

"...promise me you'll at least wear a clean sweater this time honey."

ask if she has any advice for dealing with your aunt.

Oh, and if you don't want to talk about yourself ask about her. Like how your mom is doing and how her day has been going. Even if you don't really care it will probably stop her from asking things about you. Plus hearing a boring conversation can actually help you calm down since you'd be to bored to be worried.

Tell her “okay, I will, thanks”

Then change the subject and ask how’s she’s been lately, what’s new with her? Shift the conversation away from you and your problems and let’s hear if she has any interesting news to share. She might appreciate you wanting to have a normal conversation without mental drama and shows her you’re making progress. Will also show her you are not upset with her. Might lower your anxiety even.

It's a relief to hear from your mother like this. I know you've had issues with her in the past, but it sounds like she really does care and wants to help you. Your aunt, though... it sounds like you have some particularly unpleasant issues with her. In what way is she involved in your life?

Have ypu been doing alright? Um, I know we don't get to talk all that much...

"Oh me and your Dad are fine honey...there was a little incident this morning though, it got your father in a serious tizzy."

Huh? What happened?

"You know that big jar of change he keeps in the closet? The one for emergencies?"

The one that hasn't been used for an emergency in a decade?

"Yes exactly. Well apparently it's missing. He looked all over and couldn't find it."

...huh.

>Relationship with Aunt.
She's...not pleasant. Her only involvement in my family is usually during holidays, when I had my...episode, she was embarrassed and gave my parents some choice words about public image and how our family has to set a higher standard or some shit. She's only helping with my medical stuff to sweep my episode under the rug as quickly as possible...

Another outfit, you say? I guess we're lucky the thief didn't steal that too.

Oh, right, the thief. Your mother would want to know that a burglar's been stealing things lately. That's probably what happened to their jar. If she wants to know if something was stolen from you, and won't accept "it's something embarrassing" as an answer, say it was some of your undergarments so you dob't have to talk about sex toys. Communication is important, but not that important.

But we'll have to talk to your aunt too. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, and your mom turned out to be nicer than she seemed, but if your aunt saw you having a mental health crisis and did nothing but rage about her reputation... that is not a person I look forward to meeting.

Why is your family so important, anyway? What does your aunt do at City Hall? What do your parents do? What do you do?
>>

Oooh! Is the outfit you’re referring to this one? https://questden.org/kusaba/questdis/res/109181.html#145419

Because it looks so good on you gurl!

Anyways, let mother know that regarding the jar of coins, you did read that there was a burglar running around town, maybe it was them? And that you will make sure to lock your doors and windows before you head out and before bed.

DONT mention anything about getting robbed. She doesn’t need to know.

(But it is interesting that both robbing incidents has something to do with wardrobes/closets. But hey, two times is coincidence. Third times a pattern. If you see another instance of a robbery taking place where someone stores clothing, we might be getting somewhere.)

No. 1128024 ID: 3184a6

just tell you're mom you think someone took one of your "sweaters" and that you've been hearing some rumors of a bunch of people losing things. They're saying there's some serial cat burglar running around... uh, quick question, a cat burglar means someone who is just a petty thief and not an actual cat person right? I know in some areas the meaning can change.

But yeah, you can thank you're mom for calling to check up on you, hope dad did just misplace his totally not a swear jar, and you need to go and start up a shower before you're ready to face the day. The shower part is just to stop her from asking questions if she remembers before you hang up by giving her an excuse to why you need to hang up.

Oh and don't forget to say you love her before you hang up, parents love hearing things like that.

They released the app quite a while before I had my breakdown and the weird stuff started happening...if I'm a lab rat then basically everyone in the city is, including my family. Everyone uses it! I think the worst it does is sell my data to those ad companies or whatever...but I'm pretty sure most apps do that now.

Okay...call with Mom completed! I don't even feel as nervous as I thought I would!

>Cat Burglar
I mean they could be a cat, but they could be ANY species too. It's not literal.

>Wear your special outfit to the meeting.

...wow uh, a lot of people are getting robbed apparently. Like, a lot a lot. Oh hey, someone built a birdhouse the other day.
>>
No. 1128164 ID: 35abe7

Wait really? A bird house? Wonder what kind of birds are in the area? Though personally I like duck houses more mostly because I find it funny when the ducklings get old enough that they just get pushed down a 2 or more story drop before just B-lining it towards the nearest body of water. Surprisingly amusing and weirdly adorable to watch.

Oh right the stealing thing. Uh is anyone say WHERE they were robbed or just saying they’ve been hit and leaving it at that? Mostly just wondering if the guy is focusing on a single area or is just popping up at random around town. Hoping we can find an area he’s focusing on and maybe confront him should we desire for whatever reason.

But I guess first thing to do is get ready to met your aunt and be annoyed at whatever she wants to bitch about.

>>1128163
Well, at least we know this problem isn't all in your head. I'm not sure if that's good news or bad news. Is there any obvious pattern in the thefts? Like the kind of items being stolen, or the victims' locations, or when they started?

Let's not dwell on it too much. We should be thinking about something positive, like a nice place we can go after we're done with the mayor. How would you like a day at an arcade?
>>
No. 1128182 ID: ab5403

That conversation with your mother was actually sweet. You know, from the previous conversation, I get a sense that your mother also has a little bit of anxiety as well, and can be a bit intense for you when she gets anxious.
I think as long as we keep things chill with her like we did today, things will be fine going forward. That being said, good job, gurl.

Y'know, I was thinking, since you gotta see your aunt today, perhaps we should get yourself mentally prepared for it first. When does the city hall close? I'm thinking we should go at the last hour before closing time, that way, whatever she wants to say, it'll be a little shorter since I'm sure she would like to close the building at that hour. Also, most people would be out, or heading out by then, and less visitors too.

gives you plenty of time to have a little bit of fun beforehand, and make preparations for the meeting. You should probably consider taking a water bottle with you for example, maybe chewing gum, basic stuff to help you through the meeting.

I don't want to dwell too much on the burglar, nor do I want to confront him. If you want, we can at most see if there was a pattern with these robberies (closet theory) but really, I just want to check out the bird house and not look into the burglaries.

>Birdhouse
Actually, maybe I should try building one? It might be nice to do something besides doomscrolling and sitting around all day.

>The birds are in on it!
Then I'll build the house and catch them in the act! That'll show them!

>Robberies
Going off these posts, they've been happening around the suburbs, which is around where my apartment building is. Let's see some of the details...

"The money box in my closet is gone!"
"Someone got into the safe we hid in the cupboard. Only we knew the combination, fml."
"Someone took some expensive clothes from our antique wardrobe and didn't even take the shoes to go with them! At least try to coordinate your outftis if you're snatching them you jackass!"

...anyone else notice a pattern here?

>When does City Hall close?
Late unfortunately, if I spent that long wasting time before visiting her she might actually consider murdering me...no pun intended.

Yes we want to see videos but more importantly why aren't you dating anyone? You look like a beautiful bird and anyone would be lucky to have you as their significant other. Is it that you have problems with forming relationships with others? Are you intimidated with being intimate with others? Or where there other factors that prevent you from going on a date with someone else?
>>
No. 1128757 ID: 35abe7

Only patten I’m seeing is it looks like whoever this is, is just taking the thing the person they’re robbing cares for most. I mean maybe taking the most valuable thing in there home but unless you paid a crazy amount for your toy that got stolen to the point where it’s more expensive than your phone I’m leaning towards thing they care about most.

Also what videos?
>>
No. 1128762 ID: 101e93

Pattern's pretty obvious, they're taking things in container rooms like closets and cupboards. Other than that, it seems like a classic smash-and-grab.

But what if the neighbors are lying about what was stolen, and lost things similar to yours? I dunno.

Maybe you can visit your aunt on her lunch break then, you can both have a meal (comfort food to lower anxiety!), and these personal issues won’t involve her business as a mayor. You can say you were being considerate to discuss this issue during lunch so you don’t cut into her work time.

Also, this will insure that this won’t take more than an hour! Keep work and family stuff separate.

Animal videos! Building a birdhouse is interesting, but you might get too absorbed into it when you're just trying to pass time. The spooky ghost video looks like a clue to something we shouldn't worry about at the moment. Cute animals are always fun.

But also set a timer first if you've got one. That way you can be sure you won't be late.
>>
No. 1128894 ID: 0404f2

the ghost video will either be AI slop which might be good for a laugh, a shitpost which could be good for a laugh, or maybe someone saw your robber. If the video isn't to long maybe give it a peek and we'll let you know if it's the same guy that we saw last night or not. Then maybe the bird house video if for no other reason then to give yourself something to think about throughout the day that won't give you stress.
