Too much damage to survive in the wild, take him down with you
>>
No. 1107960 ID: 6d5273

Yeah, there’s no way to survive in the wild in this state, but you could use your sacrifice to help call and feed your colony. When a wasp is threatened and/or killed, they release pheromones to attract other wasps to help take down the threat. And Now that the spider is down here and away from its web, let’s attack the thread of web so it can’t take us back up into the web when we release the pheromones. Would be bad if we released those pheromones while we are stuck in the web again
>>
No. 1107962 ID: 6d5273

oh wait, those aren't web threads, those are just puppet strings for the story.

my suggestion still stands, start releasing those pheromones to attract other wasps for your sacrifice. your life is to serve the colony, and as long as the colony is safe from the spider, and is able to feed upon the spider, you have served your purpose.

that said, we can't die too soon, the main goal is to tire it out so it is too sluggish as it climbs back to its web when the colony comes to help.

So you are asking for food and lodging (and discretion) for how many troops? We could set something up in one of the towers, and they need never interact with anyone on the ground, let alone humans.

But what will you offer in exchange? Its in his interest to assist in our fight, as if the bulls win he gets nothing.
>>
No. 1108555 ID: 6d5273

strategic position? sounds like his troops actually need this resting place to help them with their war. He's very vague about it too, and helping him without question would probably mean we are getting involved with a war that we know nothing about between two kingdoms we know nothing about. I want to hear more about what is going on before we make our decision, as I don't know if we should be getting involved and making another kingdom our enemy when we already are dealing with an enemy kingdom currently. We're not quite sure if what Steinhardt kingdom fights for is something we approve of or not. Plus, I'm not sure if he would want to get involved with us once he learns that we are dealing with tensions with another kingdom ourselves

I think if we want to stay neutral in this affair, we shouldn't. Most we can probably do is offer to trade some of the weapons we make for money as a neutral party, but that's it. But really, we should be hearing about who this seagull is, and what he really needs this strategic position as he puts it for.

>>
No. 1108569 ID: e715a5

We'd be in breach of that before we even agreed. We do have human agents who live in the castle. Plus allied human diplomats get housed when needed. We can't even assure that other humans won't find his forces as we have a human mercenary captain whose forces are on the way to us. We don't have exact intel when he'll arrive. However if he is willing to chance exposure by aiding our garrison and is fine with human agents we command we'd happily provide hospitality for his people. (Or we could tell him none of this and feign ignorance of these issues but it would take little investigating to unravel that thread so probably a bad choice.)

if he has people that can fly that he'd be willing to lend it would be a strategic advantage for us, either as spies, scouts, or messengers. aiding him in his war by hosting his troops is a huge favor and emphasizing this is important. especially if there's the possibility of them stirring up trouble.

i'd say B), but phrase it as giving a favor and expecting one back of equal return.

We have a close ally who is a mermaid. That isn't going to be a problem, right?
>>
No. 1108724 ID: 6d5273

>>1108716
yeah, that is a very good point. Would it be too risky to even mention our interactions with that mermaid? I wouldn't want to be labeled as an enemy if he finds out we are associated with her.

my thoughts right now, there are still quite a bit of unknowns, and with him just now mentioning wanting to make his attack while the god of the sea is at it's weakest is pretty much a red flag for me. it seems like what he is doing is potentially going to be angering a god, and having a god come against us for revenge might not be the best outcome in the long run if we directly help him. There are plenty of ways the worshipers of the sea can deduce Steinhardt's people were hiding in our tower to make their attack from a strategic position. Sure it would be great to have his help in return against iron dredge, and the cat, but at what cost? And if Steinhardt's plan is to annihilate the god of the sea, that might cause unbalance to the nature of this world.

C is my choice. Let him know you wish to remain a neutral party in this venture at this time. If Steinhardt insists, then maybe say the least we can do is make and sell him some weapons, but that's as far as a line we are willing to cross. though we might need to get some materials for that.

Of course, if he is offended and angered by our refusal and threatens us, well, it would be better to have him as an enemy than the kingdom under the sea who has a god on their side.

>>

We need plausible deniability of this whole thing. We have no desire to be caught up in this if it goes bad. "Officially" your troops are here to help us with a mercenary problem and them suddenly leaving was not what we had been offered. We are a "new naive leader" so falling for a ruse is within expectations.

i don't like the tone of this guy and his threats, but having a scorned warmonger against us would put us in an even worse position. we dont have to actively help him, just let his troops stay where they need to and nothing more.

if anyone asks, we can lie/feign ignorance and say that he told us that he needed somewhere to put his people while they're migrating. have the troops specifically dress as civilians and keep all weapons away while on our turf. they can store all that in their supply wagons with covers.
>>

Well its a lot to ask, getting us involved in another conflict while we're in the middle of our own. I wouldn't say no full out, but it will need to be negotiated, and there isn't really time right now.

So for now offer him what hospitality you can, but we can't commit to anything.

I don't like how he speaks and not just about the need for a settlement for his troops but also how he looks at the castle. >>
No. 1108907 ID: ee95ba

Stated my opinion previously though we should emphasize there will be "diplomatic consequences" for any blame that falls on us. (Which means we will react - our most severe response would be to actively aid his enemies. He's probably got more than the sea people. Lesser responses would be raising his public awareness among humans, or actively alerting his enemies if he uses force to get his way here. Sovereignty is non-negotiable to us.)
>>
No. 1108908 ID: 6d5273

my biggest concern was him mentioning: "the attack that I am planning to order on my hated enemy will happen only when the god of the sea is at its weakest power". Honestly, I am not quite sure if we would want to be associating with this war if it involves going up against a god, one that has control over a domain, y'know? especially if said god is a vengeful one, or if weakening a god causes problems to the natural order of nature. Currently, If I had to choose between making enemies with a war monger, or a vengeful god, I'd rather it be the war monger.

I wanna know what he meant about an attack when the god of the sea is at its weakest power? like, If this war is all about getting revenge against a leader for killing his father, why is he also going up against a literal god to do that?

In hindsight, it was probably a good idea not to ask leaf leader or that seagull for help, if she only wants one person to go, if Leaf Leader or Steinhardt came to help too, that would have been the end of the hostage's life.

the bad news is that if only one person can go, and we send Bobbie, we can't do the disguise plan as that would require Pokondirana to follow Bobbie. So the work around will have to be...

B. We will be sending the "Cruelty of Death" to deliver the apple. You really didn't want to do this, but the death entity known as the "Cruelty of Death" intends to follow you to the meeting point to see the cat whether you want to or not, regardless of the hostage's life. And seeing as you can't go with the Cruelty of Death following you and risk ending the hostage's life, you have no choice but to let Cruelty of Death deliver the apple for you. A shame too, sadly you won't be able to speak out and dispel the situation to prevent any death from happening at the meeting spot.

Sorry Bobbie, unless that scare is not able to convince them to let both you and Pokondirana disguised as death to go, you will have to sit this one out. Pokondirana will be going in disguise of Cruelty of Death with Abdle. you wait here and give moral support to your people, maybe speak with the goblin prince in the meantime.

Before they leave, you will need to give Pokondirana that antidote Wormworks gave you. Non zero chance the cat will retaliate seeing "death" itself deliver Abdle. Abdle can probably use his new ability to make it pretend its Cruelty of Death's ability if needed.

Wait wait wait, scratch what I said earlier cause I just realized, and feel dumb for not thinking about this obvious detail that can in some ways help is stick to our original plan regardless of her rules:

Tell the crow the cat is actually in no position of power to be making demands like this. Just as she has a hostage she is threatening the life of, so do we. Ask the crow just how much the cat really values his life, and make it clear to the crow that depending on how much she cares about him, if she kills your hostage, regardless of any rules you break, the crow is as good as dead. After all, notice how she never said anything about letting the crow go free, we can still keep him in a cage and tied up, and still have him take us to the meeting point, if he values his life.

Hate to say it but Gram is more easily replaced, even if we're forced to hire elite gobbos from other clans. However the key is *at face value*. Only crow here knows what the message said. His orders may have been to get us to an ambush. Plus the whole "dead rats" thing seems like a pressure tactic to get us to rush without careful considerations. Since none were ours she's just playing mind games with us. Should we wish to stall... demand proof of life. Her message proves her accomplice is alive but we have no proof Gram is still alive. Hate to say it but the wisest course is to see Gram as already dead. We lose too much flexibility if we assume he's alive and will survive this whole thing. We do still want him alive, however that is secondary to other goals.

two things:
One, screw this. Being a 'smart' leader, like Wormworks wants. Stand up for yourself and your people.

Two, this exchange puts the cat at a set location. No more sneaking around. It could be the best opportunity we will get to eliminate her.

I don't have a full plan yet, but some things to consider:
The kenku knows we had Abdle disguised as a golden apple before. If we could get another golden apple we could bring it instead of Abdle as a bluff. If questioned by the cat could say that Abdle wouldn't willingly come, so it was necesary to gild him.

Another thing, making use of the curse. We could have the spiders whip up a glove with iron cat's claws. Then Bobbie could reach through anyone by "attacking" them. Showing up with the kenku with a knife to his throat; that's a known factor, the cat will know how to deal with. Showing up with a hand wrapped around his heart; that's intimidating, an unknown power.

Well falling back on the plan to send the actor playing death after the cat seems like a way to go.

Tell the crow the broken leg wasn't for no reason, he was guilty in helping the cat steal the townspeople's food, valuables, heckling us during our speech to lower popular opinion, trying to distract us so the cat could kidnap abdle. He has no right to claim he's holier than thou when the cat has murdered and harmed more lives than we ever had. He's lucky he got away with a broken leg, some kingdoms cut people's hands off for stealing for example.

anyway, I'm thinking of that wasp vs spider story, and thinking just fuck it, just go alone and improvise against whatever happens without a plan. A shame because I spent all that hard work helping outfit for that plan. Hopefully Cruelty of Death will like the disguise we made enough and give us a break if Bobbie and Abdle dies during whatever game we have to play to bring them back to life, I really really don't want all my time and effort to end up being for absolutely to next to nothing

We'll just have to go let the others know to fortify the castle while we're gone, so that if the worst happens, they can defend themselves. Victorio will take command until we get back, or if we don't come back I guess. Pokondirana can wear the costume, and I don't know, threaten and scare the cat souls from the window. Maybe can send some threatening messages to the cat sould saying her 9th is theirs to make the cat more nervous at the meeting and slip up.

It'll be like that wasp and spider story. we're caught in the web, we're going to take heavy damage that will cripple us probably in some ways, but in the end, if we play our cards right during this meeting, we will somehow become stronger than we are now. We do have some powers in our possession like the one Abdle got from the dream. Just a matter of figuring out how and when to use it.

I wonder if Abdle can put thoughts in the cat's head like he did with Heartbeat if she holds him, or if that's only in his golden apple form.

The idea is to convince the crow and cat spirits to allow Bobbie to go with “cruelty of death” using scare tactics

We summon fake cruelty of death by making a fake sacrifice with a knife on a goblin or anybody willing to act as the sacrifice (Bobbie can’t harm them remember) they will act terrified and then play dead after Bobbie stabs them, and then cruelty of death arrives thanking for the cruel sacrifice, taking the sacrifice away, introducing himself as cruelty of death and ask what our request is. This sacrifice is to make this charade look convincing

From there we request him to deliver the apple, and he agrees as he has been wanting to see the cat for an overdue appointment,

If we manage to scare them well enough, we can see if the crow and cat spirits will let bobbie come too to ensure that Death won’t kill during this transfer, but cruelty of death will want to keep hold of the apple to make sure Bobbie doesn’t break out of this deal and he meets with the cat

But aren't the cat spirits there to warn Shadowcat if more than one person comes to the exchange? So if they see death coming they'll warn her and she'll just stay away.

Need a big cloak so 'death' can do a big reveal when they get to the location.

A, but we're still going to do that. I like the idea, but I think it needs a bit of tweaking because we have a total of 8 cat ghosts prowling around outside the castle. If we are going to make this work, we're going to need some of our followers do something to catch their interests to keep their eyes off the cloud.

I will think of an idea for a distraction idea soon.

for the second suggestion, yeah I agree, Abdle should be the one to bring Bobbie to the cat.
>>

Perhaps have gobbo scouts in hooded robes (or whatever the actors use), well, scout the area surrounding the meeting? Far enough away to not be with us. Have 'em looking for signs of ambush. However their actual purpose is to cause false positives for the ghost cats. Harder for cat to see the real plan if we keep the ghosts busy with nonsense.
>>
No. 1109282 ID: fd169b

Its a risk because it hinges entirely on the cat being afraid of death, we'll see how true that is.

Bobbie needs to go because only a bluff will get us out of this. We've seen we don't have anyone strong enough to fight her.
Remember what I said about bringing something small and sharp! We'll need all our tricks to bring Gram and Abdle home.

One distraction idea for the souls: after Bobbie and abdle leave, a little after, Gramleza and Grimlith could put on a show where one of them is pretending to sneak out of the castle, and another one spots them and pleads with them not to leave. They start arguing for the cat spirits to see, allowing the performing crew to escape with their cloud trick. we probably won't get all eyes on them, but the more that is distracted seeing the argument, the less of a chance for the spirits to spot the performing group.

i do like this idea. i think we should follow a controlled chaos approach in terms of distraction. there are 8 ghost cats after all, and we'd theoretically have to distract All of them if we want to be the most effective.

we could have people start "fights" or arguments simultaneously, maybe over the same perceived reason like ppl disagreeing ab sending one agent and wanting to "go against orders" and others enforcing "bobbie's decision" ending with clashes. or even some wanting to flee bc they perceive things will "end badly" and want to save their own skins

Since we managed to get on track to the original plan of sending the performing group and taking a more sneaky approach, there's no need to summon cruelty of death. but we have to summon something to be true to our word.

B if god of poison healing exists, if not, D, god of healing.

God of poison healing seems way too oddly specific and sounds fake, does that god even exist? If so, go with that, if not, then go with just god of healing, that seems more believable. Say that the cat has ways to poison you with arrows, and you want to take precautions and have the god of healing bless you against poison in case the cat just shoots you after the exchange before you leave. If the crow asks why not have the god heal against all wounds, say that something like that would require a harsher sacrifice that you are not willing to take.

Thankfully we have that potion so that we don't be seen as a liar in case the cat does attempt to poison us.

I'd say C, but that would mean the crow thinks we are summoning someone to follow us. A is kinda the same as that will make him alert the cat spirits we're bringing someone with us.

A. Drop him. warn him to brace for impact since we all know Gramleza is just going to literally drop him. tell him he can speak with Abdle while you dress since he seems to be staring at him. seems like he wants to ask or tell Abdle something.

How perfect that Gramleza out of all goblins is here, if there is anbody who can make a huge scene or whipe others into frenzy it is this troublesome female. We should secretly tell her about our plan and that she should make a huge distinction while we are leaving the castle. I have feeling that she will overdeliver.

Well they could be used as tracking beacons in short-range. Like put one on an enemy and have spies follow. Or assassins. Perhaps we plant one on kenku here?

For the speech, We wasted a little bit of time talking with the performers, arguing with the crow, and pretending to summon a god. Plus, if we give a speech about us leaving, there’s a chance a goblin or two would want to sneak out and follow us. Best to keep our departure hush hush and not have a speech

Hi Grey Opportunity! Glad you’re here, we miiiiiight need your help while Abdle is sleeping but it depends on what you and the others say

Sooooo, a couple things, if we don’t do this, the cat will continue to attack, and be more aggressive about it. We gotta nip this in the bud before it gets worse. But If it will ease your worries, we lesser demons do have a contingency plan for if Bobbie and Abdle passes away during this meeting that could revive them.

Now my idea: since Abdle is asleep, and gray opportunity is back, what if we offer the crow to wear Bobbie’s crown while Abdle is on it? That way, gray opportunity can invade into the crows mind, maybe plant some thoughts into him, see if we can see what exactly the cat is planning. We shouldn’t have to worry about him flying off with Abdle if gray opportunity influences him not to, and even so, we can keep his wings tied up as we travel

Alternatively, we cooooould probably also see if gray can find out where the meeting place is so we can go without the crow and keep him trapped in here (just make sure he has no visitors) nothing in the rules says he has to come with us, right?

Everybody is busy, or should be busy. don't drag them over to hear a speech.

You're right Grop, its not the smart thing to do. But the question is, does Bobbie want to live longly or live rightly. This is the right thing to do, to be a queen with no regrets. And with luck she won't have to die for it.
Now get out of here and give Abdle back.

We would still like Gram back of course because he's our elite. Loyal too. Very useful for training our other gobbos. While the attempt should be made we can't be optimistically naive and expect it all to go well. We're flexible on who goes. So Gray - got any suggestions on who goes? ...Oh and if it goes sour can you fry the cat's mind? Per the speech, short and simple. "Dead or alive we leave nobody behind."

call me paranoid but i dont think we should be taking everything kenku says at face value even if it's all we have. especially when they keep pulling unpredictable moves like this. if they can change their minds, how do we know if they'll even honor their word? that construct could be insurance to confirm that it's abdle or it can do some other surprise that'll catch us off guard.

A).. and the leash stays on. princess carry agreed.

Demon tracker huh? If I knew they had that, we could have taken a decoy and we could have huddled near the decoy to trick it into thinking there’s a demonic presence. Ah well. Maybe we can rush into the castle, get a crutch and Mr yakbeet disguised as Abdle again, hide real Abdle, and show the tracker Mr yakbeet disguised as Abdle as we huddle around him to trick it? But then, how long would it take for Yakbeet to get back in disguise? Hmmm

Otherwise, maybe we can show it Abdle from a distance, but then I can get in front of Abdle and get up close to it as a guinea pig to make sure it doesn’t do anything to Abdle, as I act as a shield.

Leash off, carry. That will make the crow more willing to grab Abdle, and Gray can do his thing if he takes the bait… unless we try a gamble with taking yakbeet disguised as Abdle, otherwise leash stays on

Oh wait, I just realized, if we are going to carry him on her back, will bobbie be able to leave a trail while carrying him at the same time?

Maybe Bobbie can say since his leg is broken, she'll only use one arm to support him so he doesn't harm the other leg, so that she can use her free arm to drop the pebbles.

but this is all the more reason not to use the leash, cause THEN her hands won't be free if she's using one arm to slightly support him, and has the leash on the other hand..
