An ambush Oragatt decides, it's only a matter of time until something as large as a giant is found, better to focus on what happens when she is.

The third acolyte leaves her hiding place within the boulder.

Oragatt needs to get back to Herocea, she could focus on speed and fly there, but might be spotted and followed. Instead she could walk it would however take more time that could be spent on ambush perpetration.

how does Oragatt make it back to Herocea?

If both possibilities could lead to less time to prepare an ambush, then stay low and remain unnoticed.
>>
No. 1102105 ID: b9c033

The best ambush is the one that comes fast and hits hard, so go with that approach.
>>
No. 1102111 ID: 322af8

Fly. Being followed would only draw them into your known turf for a better ambush.

Walk it out. Your best tool here is surprise.

Walk!
>>
No. 1102143 ID: 455c4a

I'd say fly while staying as close to the ground as possible, or walk if she can't do this to try to keep the element of surprise when the ambush happens.

Oragatt knows her red wings would fly like a flag, she'll travel by foot, stealth and secrecy have always served the pentacled cult well.

it won't be as quick on foot, but Oragatt could scout out possible ambush locations before meeting up with Herocea.

A) Scout locations first
B) go to Herocea as quickly and directly as possible

>>
No. 1102799 ID: a7a180

Go see Herocea first. She could know some spots already.
>>
No. 1102801 ID: 322af8

B. No time to waste.
>>
No. 1102831 ID: 280bb3

I have to agree with he consensus of B, lest Herocea blow the ambush while we aren't looking. She's not exactly subtle.

B is Best

Oragatt has no time for detours, she's taking enough extra time as it is walking.

* * *

The village of K'lov, such as it is.
it's a small settlement of Rachnids that Kalez placed as a reserve in case she ran out.
They should believe in the cause but that was fifty years ago.
At least they seem willing to hide the giant for now.

A peasant sits outside.

Should Oragatt...
A) Walk in with authority
B) find a back way to sneak in
C) address the peasant.
D) something else?

>>
No. 1103616 ID: 6b8094

Walk in with authority, as you do.
>>
No. 1103618 ID: 280bb3

A, Carry yourself with authority. Whether or not they actively believe in the cause, you don't want to leave any openings for them to needle you with any concerns or doubts they may have. A firm opening will make only the more resolute in their disagreement willing to speak up.

Oragatt Strides into the mining village of K'lov with authority.

The mining folk gather and look up at the rare outsider.
One of the miners ventures a question 'What brings a warrior to our doorstep?'

'Cower servants, I am armorer to the golden lord!' Oragatt bellows

the congregation kneels before the third acolyte, she is delighted, she almost never gets to do this.
'Who speaks for this village? she adds

A portly rachnid appears under the overhang
I'm foreman Baphora, I speak for K'lov.
Oragatt slams the base of her staff to the ground 'The King of Pentacles looks to your village this day.'

Baphora frowns 'So you're here to collect the giant then?'
Oragatt nods'The giant is of interest to me'
The foreman sighs 'good. we've done our part sheltering her but we'll be happy to lose the heat'
Oragatt doesn't like the casual nature of this woman.

Does Oragatt have further business with the foreman or does she go to the giant?
>>
No. 1104988 ID: bfd8fc

Don't comment on her tone, even if it's a bit casual, there's no explicit disrespect in her words. If it helps, just assume she's ignorant on how she's meant to behave. Let someone else correct her at a less critical juncture.

Go collect Heroeca.

Ask for the location of the giant but give a firm reminder to the forewoman as to who she is talking to.

On the hand, K'lov has been perfectly obedient, our giant is apparently in good condition, and Baphora is casual but not disrespectful.

On the other hand, we are on a power trip here and dressing down Baphora, possibly literally, would be in character. Maybe just, casually strip her a little as we ask questions about how our giant is doing, see if she dares to struggle
>>
No. 1105092 ID: f21382

I'd say just collecting the giant and leaving ASAP seems to be the best course of action.
>>
No. 1105109 ID: 6f450c

Collect the giant, tempting as it would be to stop and strip Baphora for such a small offense, those Harbingers need to be taken out of the picture. Kalez needs the breathing space given all the other failures that have happened so far.

Oragatt would like to punish her insolence, but she can be patient, more pressing matters need to be attended to.
The Armorer glares at Baphora 'How fares the giant in your care, denmother?'

the foreman is nonplussed 'Come and see'

Oragatt is taken down a hall into a silo near to the surface. the giant Herocea is here.
A goblin addresses the armorer. Welcome honored guest! we've been taking good care of Cea here, and she's been helping us a whole lot too... even more if we manage to expand some tunnels

'Who is this?' Oragatt questions of the small gnat speaking to her

'Kreblin, our local smith.'Baphora sates
'I hear you're a bit of a smith yourself' Kreblin adds

Oragatt ignores the annoying creature and turns to the giant.
Herocea eyes the armorer with caution'what more is asked of me?'

To find something to wear, we are moving you to another location and you can't go out dressed like this. Especially not in a setting where clothing layers are HP!

Oragatt the Armorer sneers at Herocea 'Your state of dress is unacceptable Giant, I will fashion you something fitting of a mercenary in service to the King of Pentacles!' she then grips the denmother 'this pile of rags with suffice as raw materials.

Foreman Baphora declares something about having material stores, Oragatt chooses not to acknowledge this statement, The woman is speaking out of turn.

The giant speaks then. 'You make clothes for Herocea?'

'The title of armorer is not ceremonial.' Oragatt scoffs

Making clothing is beneath Oragatt, but time is essential and Herocea must be dressed.

Simple clothing will take little time, but Oragatt could do so much better and equip the giant with highest quality arms and armor, of course the higher the quality the longer it will take.

How much time can Oragatt afford to spend applying gear to Herocea, and are there any special qualifier or elements she should add to the equipment?
>>
No. 1106414 ID: 6b8094

DO NOT dally. Stick to clothing, but it should at least contain some armor piece, however ceremonial. Most likely a belt to hold up her skirt, or a pauldron. Try to match her outfit's colors to the local foliage!
>>
No. 1106423 ID: 00f5c5

>>1106414
I'll second the belt. We're clothing Herocea for the sake of her dignity more than her health; she's made of stone, after all. We want to reinforce any fastenings and seams, make sure her clothing stays intact for as long as possible in a fight.
>>
No. 1106425 ID: 802951

Third the belt!
>>
No. 1106426 ID: c438a4

Obviously they can't delay for too long, but sending Heroeca into combat unarmored would waste their moment on another loss. Do what you can with the materials on-hand.

Belt is a good idea, but I will also just suggest focusing on keeping Heroeca's midriff and legs armored over her chest and head, since their opponents won't easily be able to strike at a giant's upper-body.
>>

As much time as it takes to put the den mother in her place by making sure all that useful fabric is used.

The Armorer performs her function.
The outfit is serviceable, not Oragatt's best work.
but she has punished the den mother so it has it's merit

is Oragatt done crafting?
>>
No. 1108039 ID: 6b8094

Yes. The pink fabric is not suited to blending in.

One should take the den mother's top. Make it as your own little reward for yourself. A bow for your own hair. Doesn't have to be for the giant after all.

I never knew how much I wanted to see pink frilly bloomers on a scorpion woman until right now.

>>1108054
While I am deeply tempted to take what little dignity Baphora has left, her underwear's unlikely to make good equipment and we only have so much time. We saved a lot of time by going directly to Herocea, but every bit of time spent armoring her costs us more of an advantage

...That said, if we can find a use for the elastic in Baphora's underwear, that might justify taking it from her. Perhaps some kind of sling as a weapon for Herocea?
>>
No. 1108102 ID: 00f5c5

>>1108081
Thinking about it more and, yeah, a ranged weapon for Herocea might be useful. Lets her take use of her height to hit targets long before they can get to her. The Harbingers don't have any ranged weapons either.

Making such a weapon might fall outside the remit of 'armorer', but maybe the goblin smith would be happy to help?
