Well I mean, we are kind of in existential danger, right? Also I'm totally in nosy Sherlock mode right now and I cannot be deterred.

I totally support this approach.

If the monsters got into the house, wouldn’t you prefer a warning of some kind instead of them coming after you while you’re sleeping?
>>
No. 937577 ID: 2df440

because we need to know if a horrible monster is coming to eat us

I've been trying my hand at approaching problems head on and that's at least emotionally rewarding so maybe that works for preventing monsters in the basement too.

Well if a priest is breaking in? Or the house is breaking down due to how many people are inside here and if we dont do anything the house is going to collapse onto us then get tortured by those monsters by possibly our bodies exploding from being pumped full of water and stabbed to death by needles

You: "I'm trying to fend off that existential danger a little bit. You know, taking initiative."

You: "I think those monsters are going to get into the house eventually."

Lisa: "Well someone warded it."

You: "Someone? Not Susanna?"

Lisa: "Of course not, she couldn't get in."

You: "It must have been one of the Plaths."

You: "There's a hole in the roof that leads right outside in that ground floor rec room thing. The big spooky locked door next to the kitchen."

You: "Do you think a ward can stop gravity?"

Lisa looks nervous, hiding behind her clipboard as she often does.

Lisa: "That would be something to ask the Mayor."

Lisa: "How do we get into the basement?"

You: "So you're in?"

Lisa: "I really don't want Rachel getting hurt, but I don't know how much I would be able to help in the event of… danger."
>>
No. 937741 ID: 0fae41

Communication is important. In the event of... danger, you just keep yourself out of it.
>>
No. 937742 ID: 322af8

Tell her she would help by calling for backup. She can stay in the back if she wants, otherwise she can stay here. You need the yeen.
>>
No. 937759 ID: f2136e

Too bad. Take her clipboard. And tell her to explain your plan to Rachel.

And then whisper lewd things into the clipboard. Also, ask Susanna through the clipboard about wards. And if it would be possible for her to establish an extra ward. Plath+Stark double ward~

You: "You can help, by CALLING for help."

Lisa: "Right. I don't think the mayor would be happy about me going with you."

You: "That's why we're not asking her permission."

Lisa: "That isn't what you were doing earlier?"

You: "Huh?"

Lisa: "Uh-"

Lisa nearly drops the clipboard, along with her glasses.

Lisa: "Never mind."

She calls back to Rachel, who offers a solemn nod and follows.

The Plath House basement is fraught with great significance. Think carefully about who and what you bring along. This is not a point of no return, but the end is near.

No. 937765 ID: 0fae41

I'd bring Sophie, if she wasn't tied up treating people here. Our choices are pretty narrowed anyway, aren't they?
Naz is clever, bring her along if she promises not to try and prank us while serious shit's going down.
>>
No. 937767 ID: 9876c4

Shouldn't we take a Plath? Just sayin'.
>>
No. 937777 ID: 8d26c4

Get Ramona. She's probably the most qualified Plath to help.
>>
No. 937778 ID: b1b4f3

If the area's warded by a Plath then we should take Ramona.

No. 937779 ID: c571e8

I was also going to say it. Bring a Plath. The younger one was in good health last I saw.
>>
No. 937797 ID: 322af8

I suppose we need Sally to unlock the basement, perhaps one more strong person like Davey. Everyone else is really either hurt, busy tending the hurt or not a fighter.
>>
No. 937800 ID: 891b91

Hey why not just bring everybody okay we probably can't (and shouldn't) do that.

I agree with bringing Ramona. Originally I was going to say both Plaths, as well as Susanna, but we don't know what might be lurking down there; we can't afford to lose all three of them at once, considering that they're the only supernaturally powerful people in Coxwette. Susanna should remain upstairs as an emergency lifeline (via the clipboard), and one of the Plaths should stay as well, since this is their house protected by their wards. Ramona has more knowledge and experience than Sally, so she's the best choice to come with us.

I do think we should let Susanna know what we're doing, though. At this point she can't really stop us, and it'd better if she were prepared for the worst.

Something very strange lies beneath the town of Coxwette. Remembering what you saw in the well, you decide to involve one of the Plaths. With Lisa and Rachel behind you, you knock on Ramona's door.

Ramona sits up. She looks tired.

You: "Ramona?"

Ramona: "What's going on?"

You: "Sorry to wake you up."

Ramona: "I wasn't sleeping. What's going on?"

You: "We're going to the basement, and I think we need a Plath to come along. So it's either you or Sally."

Ramona: "I'll go."

Seeing her, you begin to have second thoughts. Since you have known her, she has had a sluggish gait. She may get stuck or have difficulty keeping up.

You: "If you need to rest-"

Ramona: "I don't want Sally getting hurt."
>>
No. 937902 ID: 8d26c4

Sally also doesn't have the experience we're going to need.

No. 937904 ID: 0fae41

>>937902
Neither does Ramona. The current gen of Plaths is clueless about their ancestors' witchcraft.
>>
No. 937907 ID: 891b91

Tell her you wish you didn't need either of them to come along, nor Lisa and Rachel for that matter. You don't want anyone getting hurt (not even Geoff!), but if someone has to face whatever danger lurks beneath the town, you wish it could be you alone.

Ask her if she's been down there before, and what she knows about it if she has.
>>
No. 937908 ID: b1b4f3

In any situation where Sally would get hurt, Ramona would likely die.
To be fair about this we should involve Sally in the decision.

She says she can do it, so she can do it.

Good point. Let's talk it over with Ramona and Sally together.
>>

Ramona is NOT ignorant of their family craft. She might not be a master of it, but she was a working knowledge of it.
>>
No. 937915 ID: f2136e

We don't want anyone getting hurt. Which means... we should bring Susanna since she's the strongest.
>>
No. 937920 ID: 10c408

Get Sally involved in the decision making here and sort it out so we can bring Sally instead.

No offense to Ramona, but if push comes to shove everyone involved in this is going to have to drop what they are doing and RUN. And... She can't. We'd most likely end up leaving her behind to die.
>>
No. 937980 ID: 8d26c4

Bringing both Ramona and Susanna would be a good idea. They both need to see the end of this more than anyone else.

Hesitate, then nod.

"Can respect, but only if we pass by the doctor to get an okay, and you consent to be carried like a sack of hot mom potatoes if we have to make a run for it."

...

"I mean sack of hot potatoes I mean just potatoes not that you're not dumpy in all the right ways why mouth why do you keep talking"
>>
No. 938059 ID: b0b724

If everything goes well, time's going to start ticking for everyone again. Sally is going to need to confront her legacy at some point. And she has a right to protect you as much as you have a right to protect her. You're a liability and a danger to yourself like that, so the least we can do is actually talk about it with Sally like a bunch of adults.
>>
No. 938060 ID: db8bde

Absolutely not Ramona. She's bedridden already. Why wouldn't we take the more physically able Plath?
>>
No. 938084 ID: 8d26c4

>>938060
Because the more physically able Plath lacks the experience, knowledge of family history, and has recently demonstrated she's naive at best and foolish at worst (dumping the booze, teaming with Susanna's "let's not let anyone not related live together" plan). Sally's a good girl but she's not a clever girl.

Lisa: "Mrs. Plath-"

Ramona: "Ms."

Lisa: "Ms. Plath, we don't want you getting hurt either."

You: "You can't exactly run if there's trouble."

Ramona: "Leave me behind, then."

You: "Come on, don't start talkin' like that."

Ramona: "You need a Plath, don't you?"

You: "I… I think so. Yeah."

Ramona walks around the bed to her nightstand, opening and closing the drawer.

Ramona: "I don't want anyone getting hurt on my behalf."

You: "Does Sally know what's down there?"

Ramona: "I've done my best to protect her from this family's awful affairs."

Ramona: "It sent her into the arms of Susanna, but maybe it was for the better."

You: "Do… you know what's down there?"

Ramona looks at you and Lisa.

Ramona: "I'm afraid not. I have never been that deep in the house."

You're still not sure whether to take Ramona or Sally.
>>
No. 938182 ID: b0b724

If Ramona is no more experienced on this issue, the debate is on how capable they'll be, mentally and physically. I'm restating my suggestion that we get Sally in here and we actually talk the choice through.

Especially if Ramona wants to stop pushing her daughter away.
>>
No. 938186 ID: 812ad3

>>938182
the think is sally will probably WANT to go to protect her mother, but does she have what it takes and the knowledge needed down there?

"Ramona, you can come with us but we're going to see Sophie first so she can judge if your state is stable enough"
>>
No. 938187 ID: 58ee15

Ramona needs to get her legs stretched. Besides, she has a certain medical condition which makes her a perfect candidate.
>>
No. 938190 ID: 9876c4

Once again, if Ramona says she can do it. then she can.

No. 938235 ID: e51896

I think Ramona feels this is something she has to do, or it will probably eat her up inside for the rest of her life. Take her with you.
>>
No. 938247 ID: 322af8

At this point Id say it is Ramona, she has set her mind to go do this and she knows more about the dealings of the house. Just be ready to carry her in case things go south.
>>
No. 938253 ID: 91ee5f

Bring Ramona
>>
No. 938256 ID: 0fae41

Take neither. Bring Susanna and leave Lisa up here with the clipboard.
>>
No. 938296 ID: e51896

Ramona.
>>
No. 938334 ID: a81f1c

I get the feeling that talking it over with Sally and Suzanna isn't going to happen, so I suppose let's agree to take Ramona. Just be ready to pick her up and bolt if things get bad.
>>
No. 938412 ID: 15a025

Take Ramona with. You or Rachel should be strong enough to carry her in the event we need to run for it.
>>
No. 938874 ID: b1b4f3

Rachel should grab that pickaxe that was down here. Or some other tool like a crowbar.
Wouldn't hurt for others in the group to be carrying weapons as well.
