It seems the answer lies in the memories the Cletus' soul is imparting. Especially his last interaction with Harold...about the body's ashes blowing over the well and freeing the soul? That potion allows Chuck to pass memories along... seems reasonable to let Susanna sift through Cletus' memories via a potioned Chuck.

You comb the house, trying your hardest to fend off a sense of urgency that simmers just under your ribcage. You have never felt dread like this in your life. You find who you are looking for on the second floor, along with someone else.

You: “Rachel?”

You: “How are you holdin’ up?”

Rachel looks at you with confusion, holding up the bathrobe in her hands.

Lisa: “You have to stop using idioms like that. She doesn’t get it.”

You: “That’s an idiom?”

Lisa: “Never mind…”

You: "What are you two up to?"

Lisa: "Just chatting."

You: "About what?"

Lisa: "Nosy? Sir?"

You: "Sorry. I'm just agitated."

Lisa: "Oh. Well, it's ok. I really just… uh… I needed…"

You: "A break from the mayor?"

Lisa: "Please don't tell her I said anything."

You give Lisa a finger gun.

You: "I get it. My words. Not yours."

Lisa: "The robe Sophie made for Rachel didn't fit. She's never fitted for her before."

You: "Is that why she's in a dress?"

Rachel grumbles and nods.

You: "Well listen, I'm thinking about checking out that noise that happen a little while ago, and I need someone to come along. I was thinking about Rachel."

Lisa: "Why her? You two can barely communicate."

You: "Layla's wounded. John's covering for Layla. Sophie's needed up here. I don't have that many options, and I don't want to go by myself."

Lisa: "Well someone warded it."

You: "Someone? Not Susanna?"

You: "There's a hole in the roof that leads right outside in that ground floor rec room thing. The big spooky locked door next to the kitchen."

You: "Do you think a ward can stop gravity?"

Lisa looks nervous, hiding behind her clipboard as she often does.

Lisa: "That would be something to ask the Mayor."

Lisa: "How do we get into the basement?"

You: "That's why we're not asking her permission."

Lisa: "That isn't what you were doing earlier?"

You: "Huh?"

Lisa: "Uh-"

Lisa nearly drops the clipboard, along with her glasses.

Lisa: "Never mind."

She calls back to Rachel, who offers a solemn nod and follows.

The Plath House basement is fraught with great significance. Think carefully about who and what you bring along. This is not a point of no return, but the end is near.

>>
No. 937800 ID: 891b91

Hey why not just bring everybody okay we probably can't (and shouldn't) do that.

I agree with bringing Ramona. Originally I was going to say both Plaths, as well as Susanna, but we don't know what might be lurking down there; we can't afford to lose all three of them at once, considering that they're the only supernaturally powerful people in Coxwette. Susanna should remain upstairs as an emergency lifeline (via the clipboard), and one of the Plaths should stay as well, since this is their house protected by their wards. Ramona has more knowledge and experience than Sally, so she's the best choice to come with us.

I do think we should let Susanna know what we're doing, though. At this point she can't really stop us, and it'd better if she were prepared for the worst.

Ramona: "I'll go."

If everything goes well, time's going to start ticking for everyone again. Sally is going to need to confront her legacy at some point. You're a liability and a danger to yourself like that, so the least we can do is actually talk about it with Sally like a bunch of adults.

Absolutely not Ramona. She's bedridden already. Why wouldn't we take the more physically able Plath?
>>
No. 938084 ID: 8d26c4

>>938060
Because the more physically able Plath lacks the experience, knowledge of family history, and has recently demonstrated she's naive at best and foolish at worst (dumping the booze, teaming with Susanna's "let's not let anyone not related live together" plan). Sally's a good girl but she's not a clever girl.
