These monitor show me eeeeeverything in the facility. The three on the right show the outside, the three on the second from the right show the recreation areas, the three on the second from the left show the wards, and the bottom left one shows the main lobby. The top left two cameras can be cycled through to any of the patient rooms I want, except 306 because that camera is always dead. There is also a second set of lounge cameras I can work with.

I can pan or zoom these cameras to a rather large extent, and have gotten pretty good at the controls. I can see whatever I want to in this place. I just can't... go there. Sigh.

>Tell us about and what you think of captain D.
Captain D is weird. But he's funny weird. And he's strong, and smart. I like him. He's my only friend in this place. Besides maybe my brother, when he visits me.

>Why, per se, do you need to be kept away from others? And what's the cane for? Bum leg?
Because Mom's afraid I'll get sick and die. I have a weak inmune system, so I need to be careful, she says. And yeah, my left foot is shaped wrong. It doesn't look like my right foot.

>So, Llena, do we have anyone we particularly like to watch?
Not really. They all do interesting things occasionally. 105 is really boring though. 306 too, but she hides from the cameras, so I don't see her anyway. I wish I knew their names.

>What kind of "things going wrong" are we looking for?
Fighting, mostly. Trying to escape. Patients being in the wrong wards. Rules breaking stuff.

>How long have you been doing this?
I don't know. Its been a long time.

It looks like the new girl is here, unless that's some other armored car shipment up front. My brother is talking with some patients in the library lounge. I could probably report 201 for sitting on the library counter, but its not like we even have a librarian anyway. It looks like MaxiSec is eating breakfast now - they never it together. 105 is being boring. The Rose twins are running around MiniSec.

It looks like just another boring day.

[[At this point, suggestions mostly consist of "which camera do you want to look at in more detail." They can pick up some sound, but the microphone is imperfect.]]

Report her to be captured so that you can engage in a massive Xanatos Gambit eventually resulting in your freedom. Relative freedom.
I guess you can't get very far in your state, and you like Mom well enough, but wouldn't it be cool if she stirred things up enough that you could go walking to the cafeteria and talk to Tosh or something? That would be so cool.

Or at the very least she'll make things a little more interesting to look at.
Anyway, you should report her.

The speakers of the facility are rigged to deepen my voice a bit. I still sound like a lady, but not like a kid. "H-hey! Wait!" I yell into the speaker by the entrance. She pauses, just a moment...

Okay. I'll keep an eye on 108's movements, but focus mainly on what Ta'Ch'Ch is up to with 204 and 203. Right now it looks like they're just talking. I can't pick up what they're saying on the mic - I just hear a "ding ding ding" noise. 201 is probably playing with the bell on the library's front counter.

>Hijack the speaker near the front desk.
Oh yes, I can definitely do that. Each of the cameras is next to a PA speaker, so I can speak to any room I want to. In addition, there are four global settings: All, 1F, 2F, and 3F. First floor has the lobby, the lounge, and MiniSec. Second floor has MediSec and the cafeteria. Third floor has MaxiSec, Miss Brummond's office, and the Library.

I'm in the basement, hidden away with Mom. There's only one camera down here, and its in the science room.

>It doesn't really help us now, but when you get older, make a point to learn to read lips.
The resolution on the cameras isn't good enough for that. I can barely make out who is talking, let alone their exact lip movements. But, I'll keep it in mind.

Well... kind of. There is an elevator, but it is password coded. Mom knows the password, and so does Captain D, but I don't. Ta'Ch'Ch might.

There isn't much down here, in the lab. There's my room, and this room, and a hallway, and Mom's room, and the lab, and the elevator, and the storage room. In the back of the storage room is the emergency exit, but the door is locked and I can't get through. Mom has the key.

It occurs to me that if your mom managed to genetically engineer you and your brother, she should have the ability to perform gene therapy.

So the question is...why hasn't she? Gene Therapy could cure a lot of your ailments. Then there's cybernetics and all that nice stuff.

TL;DR, there's no reason why you should be cooped up like a prisoner when there are viable alternatives to improving your life.

>What's Allen in for, anyway? Maybe we can help him out while he helps us.
Uhh... 108 is in for self inflicted bodily trauma and accidental homicide.

>It's not a very good emergency exit if it needs to be manually locked, is it?
Its locked so people can't get in. I can go out of it no problem, but Mom would kill me if she found me outside. And going out the emergency exit means I can't get back in. I'd need Mom's key.

And if I prop it open too long an alarm goes off. I've tried. Mom was really mad at me.

>there's no reason why you should be cooped up like a prisoner when there are viable alternatives to improving your life.
So... I'm broken because Mom wants me to be broken?

Oh! Yes, there he is now! He seems to be carrying her. Maybe she got hurt?

Ah, Allen is wondering if I left.

Say yes, and that you're not there at the moment.

Hmm.

I would suggest asking Allen to look around the place. Who knows? He might find something out if he stars looking around the facility?

Tell Allen we're still here. We don't have anywhere to go, so we'll always be right here to speak with him.
Except when it's time to sleep. Because that's when you sleep. Um.
.....
Actually, Allen's not too bright. He's really nice, but he seems pretty ditzy.
We're sure he means well.

Something subtle like figuring out the passcode might be beyond him. He's not exactly Direct PC material. ... Why don't we have him act as a helper, instead?

Ask Allen to get involved with the other inmates. Help them do things. Like how #108 wants to explore. Or if, say, anyone else wants to learn more about the facility. Whatever it is they want to do, help them do it.
The only rules he needs to follow are...
1) Try very very hard not to hurt anyone, and
2) Do not tell anyone why you are doing this.

And then, periodically, come back here and tell us what's going on (even though we can mostly see it), and if necessary we'll give further instructions.
Eventually, someone will either make it to us, or stir things up enough so that we can walk outside by ourselves for.
Or, at the very least, it'll be way more interesting than anything else we've been doing. Right?

Let the Gambit begin!

"Yes, I'm not here right now."

Allen pauses a moment. "...What?"

>I would suggest asking Allen to look around the place. Who knows? He might find something out if he stars looking around the facility?
This is a good idea. "Keep looking around, I'll be in touch."

"Oh. Okay! What should I look for?"

"Um..."
>Have him act as a helper. Eventually, someone will either make it to us, or stir things up enough so that we can walk outside by ourselves.
Oh! That sounds good!

"Go look for people to help out. Just be nice, help people with anything they need. Especially if they're trying to learn more about this place."

"Oh! I can do that! I can do that!"

"Good! But I have two rules you need to follow. These are very important. Rule 1: Try very hard not to hurt anyone."

"I always do that!"

"Try harder. And rule 2: Don't tell anyone about me, or why you're doing this."

"You sure? Why not?"

"Because if anyone knows about me I'll get in biiiiig trouble. So keep it a secret. Just look around, have fun, be helpful. And come back and tell me about what you learn. Okay?"

"Yes! I can do that!"

And then Allen runs off, to be helpful, hopefully.

I can do this. I feel like... like I have hope.
