yeah, he was jealous of the life you had so instead of building a life that he could be proud of he poisoned your wife, claimed it was because you didn't worship the gods enough, and we all know how that went from there. Since he could make a life he would have been happy with he decided to destroy yours. Dick move really.

The silent Brad slipped up. Better make sure, though.

Conrad, if you have any regret for your past actions this is your chance to come clean.

Except that a guy of true righteousness will actually say that. Which is sort of what Conrad is. A bad guy and a guy of true "Righteousness."

I'm serious about having Conrad join us, though. He had no problem helping us out, after all. How's about the two of you just talk to us through the thoughts, like people originally did?

Actually, how would Conrack know about those runes, or rather, that Brad was held by bandits using those? The only ones that know that should have been Brad and us. Or am I forgetting someone?

Oh wait I think I was wrong, Brad has been sad about his wife's death, not angry. Conrack remembers only angry Brad, but he's different now. Also he probably doesn't even regret what he did.

I think weakening both is a good idea. Then you can separate them safely and interrogate them both to isolate the real Brad.

I really don't get what all this confusion came from, the one who reacted to the accusation should have been Conrad, because back when we first discussed the theory Brad reacted with disbelief, not anger.
>>
No. 622234 ID: 825af6

Alright, since we can't seem to figure out which one is really Brad, we'll bind the both of 'em and figure it out later. Unfortunately the only thing we have here right now that could counter a Windwalker is another Windwalker, so until we can bring in runed manacles or whatever to subdue them they'll have to watch each other. So the both of ya, take a step back each, keep eyes on the other, and hold still. If either of you so much as twitches, the other gets to beat you down. Everybody else gets back from these two and clear the folks out of the nearby buildings; If things go bad here I want the worst that'll happen from the Windwalker fight to be property damage. And that's Tsure's bakery over there, isn't it? Yeah, I definitely want her to not be anywhere near here right now. If she got hurt, or worse, killed, Drina would flip the fuck out.

>Trying to kill him would be pointless. Don’t you have anyone who can make some of those weakening runes? Those that was used against me by those bandits?
I dunno; Do we have any runes as strong as those on hand, or anyone skilled enough make them if we don't? 'Cause the ones that were used on Brad before were made by Green's king, so they might have been far better then anything the runesmiths in town could make. We may have to resort to an alternative.

I know that Brad was knocked out by anesthetic when he was kidnapped, so how 'bout using that? Do we have any knockout gas 'nades that could be used to put these two's lights out? If we don't have any in our own arsenal maybe the Serathians brought some of theirs and we could borrow them. Oh, what about that knockout liquid Jal concocted to capture that cultist yesterday? I think we had leftover bottles of it we might be able to use here.

[@Gray: I can't say the following to our pawns since the Brad impostor would hear them, so I'll tell you so you can decided what to do with it and also relay it to Mikhail so at least she knows it: There's a difference between the two Brads'; Their eyes colors don't match. Based on that I remember when we switched to Brad right when these two ran into each other the one farther from Mikhail right now was on the side Jal, Vlad, and Mikhail arrived from, so that one is probably the impostor. Also, his eyes are the same color as Conrack's, while the other's are the color of Brad's.

Unfortunately I don't know how we can act on this information right now without putting our people in danger. If we call Conrack out with this he might decide to try and fight his way out, and I feel that would end badly. Should we just string this along until be bring the means to subdue and secure both of them, then pick out Conrack afterwards?]

>[If we call Conrack out with this he might decide to try and fight his way out, and I feel that would end badly. Should we just string this along until be bring the means to subdue and secure both of them, then pick out Conrack afterwards?]
[I don’t believe Conrack would be foolish enough to let himself be jailed… unless his plan is to get Brad jailed no matter the cost? Hmm… keep vigilant, I have a feeling he still have some tricks left.]

Crazy theory time? Crazy theory time. Neither are Brad nor Conrack, but both. One simply had more Bradford than Conrack in him, and the other, the opposite, but still fairly close to even levels. Bradford, being our King, was able to keep hold of his own side of thoughts, while for Conrack, his side started to weaken, leaving his Ragnar side a lot stronger. Now, Bradford's stronger than his Ragnar side, but Conrack...
>She died from sheer pain, Brad! Oh, how it felt good seeing her writhe there in her last moment, screaming in her mind for-
...Conrack seems to be having trouble staying above it, with nothing to hold his thoughts together. Everything's been flipped around on him, and no anchor, no source of stability has been offered to him. This is why I want him to join us, as we are that anchor, and without our aid, he would become little more than a monster.
Wake up, Conrack, and return to humanity.

>>
No. 622861 ID: d958ad

Ah, I have a theory as to why Conrack has a ghost. He doesn't. It's actually Bradford, creating his brother with the power of ghost magic, because he seems to subconsciously believe his brother should exist. He's been acting a little strangely because the Ragnar side of Bradford is leaking into the second manifestation.

Think about it for a second. What else could explain us running into him up at the caravan ambush right when Brad was most vulnerable? It's just too convenient.

>What's that wooden stand around/behind/infront of you?
:PaladinUNB: Those are remains from the houses that used to be outside the original wall. They were mostly abandoned when the undead came. Of course, it was the looters who did all that damage, not the undead.
:JalUNB: Hmm… house remains? …say, do you know if they have… like cellars or basements? Things like that?

>I’m pretty sure winter doesn’t have any positive aspects left anymore…
Just because they're still active in winter, doesn't mean they aren't slowed down by it. You can actually outrun a wasp in the winter.
>Oh, right, your date… hmm…
Y'know, as long as you're approaching slowly, the wasps should warn you if they are, in fact, there. I don't mean like tip-toe, but just a casual walking speed. If you hear any buzzing or see anything dart around, then stop, and see if there's actually a wasp trying to warn you.

If you reach the house and can see an out-in-the-open nest, then they're friendly wasps. Yes, there's such a thing as friendly wasps. As long as you don't try to throw anything at their nest, anyways.
If they're buzzing around something like a chimney or a flower box, then they're going to be territorial, and you'll want to back off.
If you're having trouble seeing a nest, but see yellow-and-black blurs, then just walk right on back to where you came from and forget about checking that house out.
Chances are it's going to be the first type, the defensive-but-not-territorial wasps, if that house has any relation to the portal.

Think you could make some sort of "Soap bomb"? Wasps are incredibly vulnerable to soap--it coats their wings, preventing flight, and causes them to suffocate. They could still crawl around and jump off any ledges, if they happen to be high up, and are still capable of stinging, so you'll want to make sure that you're a good distance away once it goes off, but it'll take care of them good.

>Think you could make some sort of "Soap bomb"? Wasps are incredibly vulnerable to soap.
Hmm… soap, eh? I guess I should make a small bomb… and I should replace the soap with some very volatile chemicals instead… sure, the forest will probably burn down but it will be worth it as long as those stupid wasps are dead.

>>
No. 624842 ID: 825af6

Of course it's a trap; It's just too obvious. And I highly suspect there'll be many more rune traps since Green and The Scoundrel have had months and months to work on this place. We'd best slow down and start thinking extra paranoid here 'cause for all we know there could be one that'll blow this place sky high.

Now, the obvious action when faced with such a tough lock on a wooden hatch would be to go for the weak point and break the hatch or the hinges, right? Well, I have no doubt Green or The Scoundrel thought of that and put trap runes on the backside of the hatch or on the hinges or even on the hinge pins. But even if they didn't, we can't know if they did or not, so we best avoid the hatch and find, or make, another way in.

I say we go in through the floor, well away from the hatch. It's only wooden floorboards on floor joists, right? A crowbar ought to be enough to rip them up and get down there. However, we should also consider that Green or The Scoundrel have thought of this as well and placed trap runes on the underside of the entire floor as well that'd go off if somebody tries to rip them up. So we have to pull them up from a distance. Could we get a hook on the end of a heavy rope? That way we could stick the hook in the crack of the floorboard, then pull it up from a distance.

Oh, I just thought of another way we could get down there. These houses are kept on their foundations by just gravity, right? Well, in that case what we could do is pull the remains of this house right off it's foundation. We'll need some heavy ropes with hooks to go on one end and some spiders to pull it, but it should be doable, especially since most of the house is gone. Or maybe we could tip the whole floor right up, using that bit of house that's braced as a counterweight. Put a rope through a window up there, hook it to the far end of the floor, knock the brace out and then pull.

Well, whichever way you make an opening into the basement, definitely do not just go down there. Get a lamp on a rope and a mirror, preferably on a stick, first. Lower the lamp down, then use the mirror to check out the area before proceeding.

And whatever you do, just keep in mind as you move that ANYTHING here could be a trap, so maximum paranoia is in order.

Weird! I don't remember seeing anything like this before... it only became ghostly when you got near it. I suppose it's possible that sword belongs to Conrad, and it's fading because he's forgetting about it.

How recent is the kill? It's possible Conrad respawned already, and investigated the house before we did, somehow. Check the body for anything identifiable.

:JalUNB: Why would they have an illusionary sword stuck in a fresh corpse?
>Oh and wasn't there a false wall in the other room which had more crap in it? could be on of those here as well.
:DrinaUNB: Well, as the body is in a pile of wood, it’s possible he was thrown through it.
:JalUNB: That sound plausible, as the last fake wall was hiding the other side of that portal.
>I don't remember seeing anything like this before... it only became ghostly when you got near it.

sword is real. When we scanned it we came up with [Object (Spirit): Blade of Judgment.] if that means anything to either of you. Ok so we have one drunk merc back at the bar, one dead one laying in front of us leaving only green's pawn left of the three. Also we need I think we need to make sure that the drunk is ok so we might want to take him into protective custody or something. Might be able to ask him more about green when he sobers up. As for where green could be... Not a damn clue. We didn't really talk to him all that much because he was either trying to kill us, thought we a puppet for someone trying to kill him, or we were simply ignoring each other. Only place I can think of that they might have gone since we at least know they left the city is that fort where they took brad. Oh and on a side note I think we also figured out how those guys got in and out of the city with brad now.

Meanwhile, in the past, Daniel is struggling against cultist that wants to turn him into an undead.

I’ll be right over to cut you open with the sacrificial dagger.
:DanielUNB: Err…

Okay Daniel, we have unfortunate news. You're going to die: [Last message: “The Sacrifice was killed by The Lord of the Dead!”]
We wind up meeting you later, turned into a Death Knight. We manage to defeat you without any real losses so don't worry about that. For now, you should try to find out everything you can about his operation. Get into his good graces by suggesting the name of Death Knight for his new undead.

Also, would you mind telling him that Teal still intends to try to save all the demons? We just need to find a way to get a large quantity of undead through the portal and then close it afterwards. Or maybe even... not close it, if we can find some way to guarantee the demons won't start eating people again.

Daniel, I'm sorry, but this could be the end. We've seen the future- don't call bullshit on the ethereal voices only you can hear- and you were turned into a death Knight. And unless you believe that turning a fourth of the population into undead is a good idea, it wasn't you in there.
