[Orpus] Listen, quint, can't you hear it? It's the sound of the Gugnir, isn't it beautiful? We could have been good pals, But you just couldn't let me have my way. Now it's come down to this, what are you going to do?

Obviously this is a side effect from going from a five eyes gender neutral magic bug to a non-magical two eyes bunny. The extra eyes and magic had to go somewhere.

[1] Hey there, nice to meet you. I'm lizard father and you currently stand on the edge of my swamp.

[Deave] If you try something i'll shoot you.

[1] Hah, no of course not! No see this is the only chance i've really had to have a decent chat with someone. Being an elder spirit of the planet takes it out of ya if you can't at least talk with all the little people walking around you.

[Deave] ...what do you want?

[1] Want!? I don't want anything- i'm just loooooooooonely. Can't we sit around the campfire and throw some words around?

We should ask him some things about being a spirit. Other than consuming them is there any way to free these spirits, perhaps by avenging them through the killing of Harold?

[1] You and the shark and the frogs grew up on the outskirts of my swamp- you're practically family! And she was messing with you, gotta protect my chums.

[Deave] Hoof, okay... is there a way to save the angry spirits?

[1] Well since your a big and fancy shaman, I shouldn't be telling you should I?

[Deave] I'm not a shaman.

[1] Course you are, or else you wouldn't be able to commune with the dead like you are. I'm so glad you can see me!

[Deave] what are you? Elder spirit of a planet is... what is that?

[Deave] Well the ghosts are more communing with me then the other way around. Maybe i'm a fledgling shaman?

[1] Well, huh... didn't know it worked like that.

[Deave] Can you tell me how it does work then?

[1] Well it's been hundreds of years so things might have changed, plus i haven't seen a shaman or a druid in over 500 years so all my knowledge is out of date.

[Deave] Tell me anyway.

[1] well it first starts off with elders reigning in the new spirit talkers. They are given a guardian spirit to watch over them and pretty much pass them wisdom and teach them the trade they had in life. Shaman pupils usually have a small collection of guardian spirits to guide them and sometimes help them in combat. The shaman can't be a weak willed individual around stronger or melevolent because then the ghost would just start destroying the shamans mind making the shaman crazy and forcing them to do horribly unspeakable things. I once fought a spirit who's shaman was wearing the skins of his people and roaring like an animal.

[Deave] Is there any way to save the spirits? Or the people who are possessed by them?

[1] You gotta sort of tame them... make them calm, that way they will just sort of adapt and return to the cradle of creation.

[Deave] What's that?

[1] You are one bad shaman if you don't know what the cradle is. I thought that wierd wish master was your gaurdian spirit, he seemed pretty hostile when I was trying to come by yesterday. Well anyway, your current wiseman should be sharing this stuff with you and the youth of your village. Is your family some sort of black sheep of the tribe?

>_______________

No. 464783 ID: 37aa84

We aren't a part of any tribe, we're off worlders originally. The reason he hasn't meet any shaman in 500 years would probably indicate that the specific culture probably died out a while ago. As for the genie as far as we're aware he's sort of a family totem we use for advice and has never indicated anything about spirits or shaman. I wonder if this spirit would like to be our guardian spirit or could recommend one since it sounds like being untrained as we are is very dangerous.
>>
No. 464819 ID: 44f93b

We're not much of a tribe. My mother and father and I aren't even the same species! And oddly enough, I'm probably the closest thing we've got to an elder, since I'm a reincarnate. But none of my past lives have been shaman-y, so I've got nothing useful to pass on to myself here.

...I suppose you could see the wish master as a kind of guardian spirit, but the price is generally too high to ask him for anything more than information. And even that has a cost.

[Deave] It may be that the culture you are used to died off 500 years ago.

[1]...

[Deave] I'm not originally from here so we know nothing of what it used to be. But from what i have experienced the land is well advanced, it could be that there has never been a shaman. The genie is sort of a family totem the my mother picked up aswell.

[1]...

[Deave] Here's an idea, how about you become my spirit guide, because it sounds as if it'd be too dangerous to not have one.

[1] Hah, well you think you got the gusto to have me tagging with you? Why not, I'm way too not busy to stay alone forever.

[Deave] It might help me figure out what is going on and how to be a better shaman... i guess.

[1] Well as long as you don't mind a few cosmetic changes to your appearance I don't mind being your guide!

[1] And more carnivorous teeth, don't forget meat eating teeth!

[Deave] wh-what, this isn't supposed to happen!

[1] How so? Of course this is supposed to happen, it's how the spirit and shaman attune to each other.

[Deave] by giving me claws and teeth?

[1] It's called communing, your body changes to better connect with your spirit guide or guides. If you had another spirit with you it'd be different with different features. Multiple spirits together can make you more ... uh... connected to them. It's a thing, just trust me. Don't worry, you're not turning into a lizard.

[Deave] jeez...

Aww~, I didn't realize you cared, Genie!

But seriously, an actual dinosaur is kind of about as awesome a spirit guide as one could get.

[Deave] I had an unsettling dream about one of my friends committing suicide, is there any way i can change the outcome?

[Genie].............................the... exact moment is a thing I must request offering for.

[Deave] Tell me as much as you can without the cost.

[Genie] ............once you enter the station proper, a choice will be given... the answer to this will be hard to choose but it seems the dead have cheated in showing you the outcome of what is destined. This will give you the illusion that you can change this outcome.........

[Deave] Illusion? What do you mean, i'm not letting her die.

[Genie] Then tell me, for someone who is to hunt the ones who break the four laws why would you be so willing to break one yourself? Two will be thrown to the wind if you do this, the law of death and the law of truths.

[1] What are you yammering on about, the kid has me and he can do whatever he wants.

Shadowman is basically the coolest guide ever. We should tell Abel that we're taking her genie before we do it, though. Don't want to have to taze an old lady again~

>Then tell me, for someone who is to hunt the ones who break the four laws why would you be so willing to break one yourself? Two will be thrown to the wind if you do this, the law of death and the law of truths.
The dead broke the laws- showing me the a truth that is to be, or showing me a false truth. I can do nothing about that.

As for death- my friend is mortal, and will die some day. My saving her from a premature or terrible end will not prevent this.

[2] Then so be it, Watcher Asheron shall be your second.

[Deave] Is that some other spirit or something?

[2] It is just folklore that calls us genies and wishmasters. We are really spirits that have been around since the dawn of creation. The gardeners of eden, we were created with the ability to change the gods creation in order to better attend to the mortals that dwelled upon it.

[Deave] That... sounds pretty neat

[1] I don't get it.

[2] We are but an extension of power, just like the young one is the sword of discipline so am I being the hands of caring.

[Deave] I will need to tell mom that you're coming with me.

[2] Have no fear, I can be in many places at once. Just like you I am directly connected to the rare matrim orphum which grants us our soul.

[Deave]... I have no clue what that is.

[2] Both of you will learn many things in the next night, but at the now You are sentry to whether you wish to go to your destined meeting with a friend or to spend this day with your family.

[Deave] Why's that?

[2] The task of the wish will consume the day, your body will be put into stasis as I send your essence into the vessel which I have prepared for you. When your family come to question, I will comfort them, but i cannot convince them of the truth of what you are for they will not believe me or anyone due to their closed minds. So now choose, what will this day be used for. If you delay, fate will kill her in a different way.

Wait, there were buttons for Rerk and Plipper, if we go is something bad going to happen to them today? If not then we'll go see if we can't save Regi and the Watcher can just tell them that today we're paying the price for a stupid wish ;D

Is that what you're saying? It's kind of hard to follow the way you talk, shadow man.

But yeah, I'm willing to subject my family to discomfiture for a day for the chance to save the life of a friend. That's a fair price.

Go to Regi. Any other transformations from our new guardian, I was already worried about how we were going to explain the sharp teeth and claws but now we have a new guardian probably with new transformations and they'll see the body long before we have a chance to explain. First, ask what the other buttons would have shown you. Are Plipper or Rerk at risk of something that we can prevent? If not, we may as well visit Regi, but don't try to prevent her death- if we succeed we would become like those we hunt.

What we should do is make her death more pleasant, and serve the greater good. She's still wanted, right? We could hand in her corpse to get the bounty.

Well, that's the rub, isn't it? All we really have, that we really value, is our friends. And we aren't exactly going to be in the business of trading them for one another.

We'd say "My life" but you'd probably deem it too cheap. Or a debt to be called in whenever you chose, but the watcher probably doesn't care to defer payment. Probably rules out coin as well.

Really, we might as well just accept that we're going to get slated for divine punishment for this and do it anyway.

We don't really have much to offer now.

I have a different question: Was Plipper destined to die? If I remember correctly, we saved him on our own, despite the high price you asked to save his life. This was without future knowledge. Did we defy destiny there somehow?

If we said the right thing here just by looking at her past, would she still die? Would we have to directly intervene using future knowledge to prevent her death?

I would be okay with not being responsible for her committing suicide, at least, and her dying for some other reason. If it's really her time to die, so be it. I just want to make her happy at least before it happens.

the frog child was saved because it was his fate to live on. The price was not expensive at all, there has once been an army who sacrificed itself just to save one man.

The reason this is so different is that you do not have an army, or at the very least the protagonist of this drama does not.

But You do. Someone must die, but you- the ones who are reading this and pondering the thought- you do have the right payment for this.
I will make this an easy one for you, If you wish for metatron to be hounded by the lords of justice and to save this woman- say so. If you wish to watch as she dies, then say that. And if you do not want either, then say this.

Three simple choices, but in the end someone does die, permanently.

rolled 3 = 3

1-Try and change her fate, deal with the consequences of that.
2-Regi dies, we do nothing.
3-Neither!

Like I said, I'm okay with her dying. I just want her to die well. Like, have her die later on accidentally(maybe even like, right after we leave), instead of having her last day with us turn out so badly for her. What would THAT cost?
>>

Fate is never a closed loop. Sometimes your choices might be limited but you always have them. I refuse to belive there is not some option here that would allow for the "happy" ending. Anything less would mean someone or something is manipulating the situation.

Hmm after futher thought I think I see what will happen. She is dying from the hurabian oxide poisoning. Be it now from suicide or slow and painfully later there is no way other than divine intervention to stop it. But thats against the rules and would get us in trouble. So now we make our choice.

comfort her, she doesn't have much longer to live anyway, at least give her a little happiness before she passes on

Guys you're being fatalistic about Regi's demise

Apparently it doesn't HAVE to happen...

wait until "end cutscen" to post.

[Quint] Me? ...do you know what love even is?

[Regina] I have no idea, but we could try?

[Quint] ........i'm sorry, truth is i don't have long in this body myself.

[Regina] So... okay, i actually didn't think it'd be that easy.

Quint grabs regi and they hug.

[Regina] I just wanted to be happy, like i don't want to die alone... and even though you kept picking on me I felt sorta okay with life.

[Quint] hmmmm

[Regina] I don't think i can take anymore of anything... people treated me like I was some faceless person, the church included... you didn't though...

[Quint] After I leave, what will you do?

[Regina]... i dunno... maybe return to the main church and go be a sacrifice or something

[Quint] Why choose to be suicidal?

[Regina] because i'm not worth shit, my social skills are terrible and no man wants me cus i'm a snarky bitch. Everything seems to make me angry or scared... why can't the rest of my life be like right now.

[Quint] Are you happy?

[Regina] it's close enough, happiest i could really ever be i guess.

[Quint] I'm sorry for what you been through, but at least your happy now.

[Regina]yeah, ya know i tried to cut my wrists when everyone thought you died?

[Quint] tried?

[Regina] well, turns out I don't like the sight of blood.

[Quint] I saw something in a dream, where you were so sad you killed yourself. I don't want that to happen, but it seems your going to kill yourself anyway-

[Regina]wait, please... just... okay. Will you miss me?

Well, no, not exactly, but fairly close. At least we spared her from getting raped and eaten, sheesh.

Still, that must've been hard for Metatron to do- to off one of his friends like that, even if it was in the spirit of mercy.

quick note, there was no right or wrong answer. the choices were keep regi and go into being hounded by the next tier of innevitables, say no to regi giving her system shock and making her kill herself, killing off another quest character, genie stuff, or killinf off one of my quests. As this points out there were many ways to approach this situation, you could have even changed the outcome right at greetings.

That IS why you stabbed her, right?

>or killing off one of my quests
how the fuck were we supposed to know that was a choice? don't make ways out of a situation that only some kind of old fashioned adventure game wiz could of divined. like needing to burn a peice of paper on a certain color candle making it turn into a magic ash that can be throw in the water to get a key for the door. NO ONE COULD FUCKING GUESS THAT SHIT!!

I think this is the part where he "said" another quest would work.
>the ones who are reading this and pondering the thought- you do have the right payment for this.
To be honest, I thought it meant for someone to give up their ability to suggest in any chirps quest; the only reason I didn't suggest myself was because I almost never suggested in this particular quest anyways.

I think it went well. Besides this reality has a known afterlife and deities. Takes a lot of the sting out of death if you know they will be fine somewhere else
