Don't listen to them, Gengar are awesome. They actually have limbs and they're pretty darn powerful.

Go outside, find a stick, and make a torch!

Alturnitively, just scout ahead, and lead the rest through safety. Keep in mind that Pink's tail should provide some light.

This is mostly for the others but they can either reach over the top and pry it out from behind, or if it's wedged in the top too they can go to the edge of the shelf and pull out books one by one, until the books aren't pressed against each other enough to keep from pulling one out.

As for you, can't you just smoosh yourself into the book and read it that way?

Searching the rest of the Library, we find that all the books on the shelves are fake. Eventually we find an old wooden door marked "Authorized Employees Only". There is a purplish glow emanating from within. You can also hear some sort of terrified screams of unfathomable pain from the door.

We enter the door to find a crappy screamo band having a jam session, and they have purple lights put up everywhere. There is a door on the other side of the room.

The drummer doesn't sound too bad, but the other two kinda... suck. The singer tries to hard, and the guitarist isn't trying hard enough.

After meeting with Generic Fisher Guy, we head to the store and Belch buys two Awakenings. We've got 5 gps left, and are pretty much broke, so we head to the Gym.

The Gym leader is on this stage and starts giving us her life story. I'll give you the short version:

She was an orphan, something something, loves plants, trained a lot, become the cannon fodder first Gym Leader. Or something like that.
