I may or may not be fully appreciative, and it may or may not be a source of amusement to me. If you can't manage to stand in the sand, just pull yourself into the cave, you'll notice it has hard rocky ground. Standing should be no problem there, and it even looks level.

While we are in a volcano, I would expect magma have to been considerably more thorough with those barrels.

A hallway, peppered with doorways and a pair of ramps, and capped with spiral staircases. Those are, I am afraid, well beyond my capability to traverse.

It is all quite pleasantly symmetric. Presumably Sirs would like to suggest a door?

While I do not believe melting to be a concern, I regret to inform Sir that approaching the magma carries an greatly increased risk of an automatic shutdown to protect myself from thermal overload. Perhaps Sir would appreciate a clarification in more biological terms. Imagine that one has been so occupied with some task of vital importance that one has neglected to sleep, and now sports the reaction times and general enthusiasm for frenetic activity of a particularly languid sloth. This is a passable analogy to the effect upon me which the heat is already causing from the base of the ramp. I can say with some confidence that I would rather investigate other avenues of attack before hurling myself through probable unconsciousness in the hope that I'll come to a halt somewhere cool enough to once again reawaken.

Lamentably, neither of the spiral staircases at either end of the hallway are suitable for the use of those of us with wheels. Dwarves do not particularly care for regulations regarding disabled access.

Alcohol evaporates quickly does it not? Her inebriation should go away faster therefore if she stays in the magma chamber. This is the perfect plan. Now explore another question mark.

However, the point about the stairs is perhaps valid... If you can make the trip down not be destroyed or disabled may be able to reach Jena and pull that lever, stopping the magma and allowing you to make it back to the ramp. The only real question is if both reach there, or if either do.

My guess as to what happened:
The original dwarves knew they were getting close to striking adamantine and releasing the HFS. They modified their magma cannons, turning them inward so as to flood the fort if fired, thinking that magma was the only way to kill the HFS. HFS came, and everybody died. Some time later, an explorer came to reclaim the fort. He quickly located the control room and activated the cannon, causing most of the fort to flood with a shallow pool of magma (controlled by a few strategically placed drains). To celebrate he had lunch there. Unfortunately for him, however, the alcohol barrels had been ignited by the magma, so when he went down to get a fresher drink the barrels exploded in his face.

By the way, dwarven wood is a lot less flammable than normal wood. I've seen dwarves make wooden magma pumps that last for several days at a time. Maybe we could use that as a heat shield?

Presumably, it's just taking awhile to overfill the farm. You should be able to look down the ramp and see if water's going to the forge and how fast. It'd be best if the magma was flooded at a relatively slow pace, perhaps managed by regularly opening and closing the gates.

If the farm's already overflooded, the water might be going in a different direction, like down the stairs (where there's probably more demons) so you'll have to lay down a bunch of stones to help angle it towards the forge.

Since the water level is quite low, I have taken the initiative of testing Sir's hypothesis before undertaking a time-consuming and laborious process such as improvisational hydrodynamic furniture arrangement, channeling or dam-building.

The exterior lights are controlled by a timer switch, which has stopped. Unfortunately, it has stopped because it is no longer powered; a condition which also afflicts the internal lighting.
