.......(Katcha)Okay great. Hey. Hello, that is. You have voluntarily- wow really?- voluntarily applied for the position of... Operator. And have been accepted. Hurray. Your position will involve providing information and orders to agents on the field during missions. Your pay will be discussed at a later date, with someone who isn't me. You will be operating in the.. Animal Branch- no surprise there - above the team.. Skulk. More widely known as "Team Fox" Yeah get used to being called that, by the way.

Mancipiya Sin, from the 102nd sector. You will choose a codename from the following.. names: Alepou, Chu la, I na li, Kettu, Kiwaku, Lis, Lishka, Mickel, Raposa, Renard, Roka, Tsula, Vos, Wokwses, or Yowu. Christ what a mouthful.
It is also your responsibility to choose a class for Manny here, and his loadout, but that will come later. The classes available, and the number of agents already on the team with that class are as follows: Assault(3), Demolitions(1), Medic(1), Engineer(1), Heavy(1), CQC(1), Sniper(0), and Stealth(0). There are other, more advanced classes, but none are available for such rookie agents.
You also need to distribute what he will spend his last eleven weeks in training, learning. You can distribute these weeks amongst the following: Charisma Classes, Computer Classes, Ba-snrk-Ballet, Weapons Training, Close Quarters Combat Training, Pilot School, Weight Training, and Medical School. He's already had one week in each, but probably isn't much good with just that.
(Sigh) Please feel free to ask any questions you might have before making any decisions.

Obvious question: what kind of mission / action are we training this soldier and/or his unit for? That influences what specialization / class and training-classes will be most useful.

Or will deployment options depend on how we train him?
>>
No. 540844 ID: 9ddf68

Let's keep his code name simple and just call him Vos for now. Also seeing our team I can tell it's built more for direct combat then sneaking around so I say try and pin "Vos" here either has another demo or medic to help keep our guys going or try him as a sniper.

Also does the SKULK team have access to any vehicles of any kind? The reason I'm asking is because I'm trying to figure out what kind of training we should give this guy.

Well Vos seems to be the popular vote for the codename so I'll just type that in..
Stealth is the selected class.
Aaand we'll go ahead and give max weeks to his -pffft- ballet lessons, and cqc training, 'cause those have the majority vote. We'll go ahead and distribute his remaining points to the other popular votes, leaving us with a.. oh man this guy's gonna be a fuckin' ninja. As for the skills he's lacking in, as I already said, he's had about a week's training in each already, so he should be able to manage in anything. I wouldn't put him in the pilot's seat of a Federation cruiser in a hurry though. There'll be other agents to assign later on, but for now this should do fine.

Let's talk about the guy's loadout now, huh?

Now the way the S.O.S. works is by a point system. If an agent does good enough in a mission, they earn more points and can buy more stuff from the S.O.S.S., which is the Soldiers of Salvation Shop. Creative, I know. Anyway, for now you can choose a few trinkets for our guy Manny here, and he gets 'em for free.
On the top row we have primary weapons, which for a stealth class are: Boltcaster, this thing fires a metallic bolt quickly and quietly, it can get through most space armors, federation or not, and can pin shit on walls which I always found pretty cool.

Silenced sub machine gun, this thing is pretty standard, what you'd expect from hearing the name. Doesn't have a lot of accuracy, but gets the job done.

And the Retractable-Sting-Blade, or R.S.B. This is a electrically charged sword that you can retrac-pretty self explanatory-retract. It'll give the enemies a little zap when you slice 'em up too, keeps 'em quiet usually. Even numbs the pain for a sec so they don't scream.

On the second row we have two pretty basic weapons which are: A silenced pistol. Aim this thing right and it'll take most guy's down in a shot or two, not great power though.

And a silenced burst pistol. This thing's like a little machine gun. But what it does in speed, it lacks in accuracy.

Third row we have melee weapons: A standard combat knife which all agents are generally given, unless they choose otherwise. Usually fatal.

A Tranq-Prod. Which is exactly what it sounds like. One good stab with this thing will knock out any man that isn't the size of a boulder. Usually non-fatal.

And a -ugh- a retractable nightstick. Which is the only blunt weapon here. This thing is pretty much useless unless you want to beat the shit out of someone for awhile. This one varies on how hard you hit 'em.

Fourth row is grenades. Each agents gets two grenades of their choice from; EMP Grenades, Explosive Grenades, Tranquilizer-gas Grenades, and Flashbang Grenades. Pretty standard stuff.

And last but -ohboy- not least, is the CHIP INSTALLATIONS. This is my favorite part. Each S.O.S. suit comes with an available input slot for several microchips which can enhance agents abilities, or allow them to preform certain feats. The available chips for the Stealth class are;

VISIONOPTICS CHIP. This thing allows the user to see in many different fields of vision including, Nightvision, Thermal, Echolocation, ect.

MINATURE CAMERA CHIP. This allows the user to, at their will, see through any of five deployable mini-cameras from their own eyes. This can be useful to track enemy movement, keep an eye on prisoners, ect.

SENSORY INCREASE CHIP. This chip enhances the users vison, sense of smell, eyesight, taste, and general reflexes for a short amount of time. There's an afterburn after using this chip that might cause a little uh.. temporarylossofoneoftheusedsenses but for the most part this one is great. It should probably only be used once or twice a day though, and never three times. That might cause permanent damage.

What'll it be?

Primary: Boltcaster, for armored targets.
Secondary: Silenced Pistol, for unarmored or lightly armored targets.
Melee: Tranq-Prod, for capture of targets we need alive. For lethal melee combat, his hands should suffice, especially with the target stunned.
Grenades: 2 EMP, to take out automated defenses.
Chip: Mini-Camera, for remote observation.

Primary- The sword of course
Secondary- the silenced pistol
Melee- The baton. Now hear me out here. The baton may not seem like the best Idea weapon wise, but it has a lot of versatility. It could be used to bash open locks or windows, things that would damage our other weapons. Taking people alive via the tranq pod is great and all, but then we'd have to deal with the prisoners. Besides, if we are a stealth character our primary job will be clearing the way for the rest of the team. If we get an info gathering mission (Which I doubt for our current level of operation) then we can just buy a tranq. A nice heavy bludgeon is more valuable than it initially seems.

Grenades- EMP and Flashbang. Should help us disorient our enemies and mess with their infrastructure. Leave the blowing things up to the other guys. Also, in a pinch we don't have to worry about them blowing us up or knocking us out. So we can just let em loose.

Visionponics chip
Should be extremely useful. It also doesn't really have any major drawbacks and should help us keep our bearings when our enemies cannot.

I'll buy that logic, actually. We may need to break things far more often than we'll need to capture an enemy alive, and we would be assigned gear for that explicit purpose if that was the mission.

I'll change my vote from Tranq-Prod to baton.

the main reason I thought the tranqulizer would be good is if we had to take out a gaurd at a stationary postion because if someone walked by and saw the body they would just think he feel asleep compared to seeing a body with a slit thoat. But then again the guy will have 2 points in his stregth training so I'm sure he could just knock people out with th baton with a solid blow to the head so sure why not

We have eleven weeks of training to assign and we've spent four of them, leaving seven.
2x Charisma
2x Computer
1x Weapons Training
2x Piloting

Boltcaster, silenced burst pistol, the tranq-prod, 1xEMP, 1xgas, visionoptics chip.

I went with the fiddly tranq-prod bullshit because trying to beat someone unconscious too easily results in death and a fighting is loud. Also, no casualties is a standard requirement for certain missions. I'd rather have a tazer if those work, and I'd much rather have a knife if non-lethal weren't a consideration even though bleeding is messy.
>>

Weight and weapons training we should finish training the rest of the way, not sure on any remaining points after that. If the baton is just one of those riot suppression style ones using our hands to smash anything tougher than a window would probably work at least as well.

READ! The instructions were broken up/amended so I've copied and pasted the relevant bits from 540841 and 540857. If I understand correctly, which isn't certain because it's not fully clear, we can assign a maximum of two more weeks into each skill area.

>I also feel I should have mentioned that distributing the remaining training weeks is probably easier than you think. I admitedly kind of choked on mentioning that the cap for each skill you can invest weeks into is three, meaning you can put a maximum of two weeks into any skill, because he's already been through one. Sorry, slipped my mind.

Alright, I'll put your remaining points in the skills you specified.
As for the loadout, we'll go with the Retractable Sting Blade for a primary. Silenced Pistol for a secondary. And it seems there's a tie for melee so... (You hear the distinct sound of someone flipping a coin on the other end on the radio) Tranq-Prod it is! As for the 'Nades, we'll give him an Emp and a Gas.
And of course the greatly contraversial microchip choice here. But in the end of the long drawn out battle, Visionoptics won. Good choice, that. Most chips have side effects, but not that one.
Our guy here is ready to go. I guess I'll talk to you again in about twelve weeks. So, I'm gonna go ahead and enjoy that time as much as possible. Bye.

Okayyy.. So, the way I see it, we have a couple of options here. It's important to find out where our other agents are. Attempting to command what you don't understand is the first sin of seagull management. In the circle of hell reserved for such people the punishment is that they are continuously given orders and punished for failure to both to follow the orders or achieve the desired result. Naturally the desired end result always cannot be achieved by following the given orders, and they are delivered in a language that the 'underling' cannot understand anyway so that there's good odds that they can be punished both for failing to achieve the goal and not following the orders.

It's possible our underlings are of for quick smoke breaks and such, and will be coming back to us after we've gotten up to speed on our briefing materials if new operators are routinely dropped into command scenarios exactly like this.

This is agent Fuchs. He's been here the longest. Longer than me even. As you can plainly see, most of his information is classified. As for why, I'm not supposed to tell you. I hear it's a sensitive subject. He's been in Skulk for ten years, which is pretty amazing really, considering it's track record... He's been on a total of... 363 missions. Not bad for a guy in the animal branch. I really don't know much about him other than he doesn't talk much, and never attends gatherings. Here's his official bio.

"Date, 1/15/765th year. Subject name, [CLASSIFIED]. Age, [CLASSIFIED] In recent observations to date, subject has given signs of lack of sleep, probably due to [CLASSIFIED]. This is most likely brought on by the whole [CLASSIFIED] incident. See [CLASSIFIED] for more details on that.. Subject has shown no signs of socialization outside of work, and spends almost none of his points.. Subject has shown severe lack of compassion toward others, going so far as to kill without prejudice. Subject has once again rejected drafting applications from two high sectors, [CLASSIFIED] and the Liquid branch, without explanation. Maybe he just likes Skulk? *sigh* Psychological evaluation not looking good.. As usual. Suggested to impose a couple weeks vacation time.. Further observation most definately required."

Look forward to all of your talks with him to be full of shouting, and name calling. From both ends usually. I won't judge. Here's his bio..

"Date, 1/12/765th year. Subject name, Phillip James. Subject age, 26. Subject has shown no improvement in anger issues since last report. It's been the opposite, really. Phillip's drinking hasn't improved either. Again it's quite the opposite. *Sigh* Subject however, did attend therapy sessions last weekend, with the rest of the group. The rest of the group that attended, anyway. While this was, a valuable piece of progress on Phillip's end, it did however, once again end in him punching the therapist... Date, 1/19/765th year. Today, Phillip attended group therapy, and shared the story of how he lost his virginity. I shall not recant this story here, because I feel it's unproductive. After telling the story, people clapped, and Phillip, verbally assaulted the room, insulting miss Moy to the point of tears. Further examination suggested.."

Goosh. Okay, Goosh is pretty much -in my opinion- our most mentally balanced agent. He seems to calm the entire team down, even Rubah. Goosh gets most of the others to attend gatherings, never Fuchs, but most of them. His bio says he's great too, I think.

Zorro. Zorro's a fighter, not much more to say. He was in the Sykid Militia back when it still existed. Think he was a heavy there too. Maybe a higer rank of some kind, I forget. All I know is, soon as the Sykids got bowled over, he joined up as a means of salvation.

"Date, 1/16/765th year. Name, Hobiniah Skitserk. Age, 30. Subject shows no improvement in group. Continues to harbor claims that it's 'for sissies' and 'pathetic', being overall antiproductive to the rest of the group. Suggested to remove Subject from group permanently, or until solution is reached. Subject also reported to have gotten into more fights.. Not including his 'light hearted punches between friends' that he had with Phillip last week. Subject continues to display clear signs of inferiority complex, and disrespect toward others. Further observation reccomended."

Pretska's a sad case. In the sense that she has almost as little sense of humor as Rav, and is just about the same as far as looking down on others goes. Always has a book on her too. Reads constantly, that woman.

"Date, 2/5/765th year. Name, Pretska Antois. Age, 23. Subject has shown recent signs of anxiety, revealing in a recent group meet, that she feels S.O.S. isn't getting her anywhere, and she's 'stuck on the worst team in the branch.' Her recent additude has apparently been simmering for quite some time, and is recieving mixed reactions from the rest of the agents. Subject casts blame for her own faults onto others without hesitation. Refuses to attend Close Quarters Combat, or Weight training."

Rav. You've already seen Rav. Heard him too. Get used to hearing him. A lot. Rav's an obedient agent. That's a nice thing about him. On the other hand, Rav can get annoying. He's also made some pretty uh, controvertial decisions on the field. Doesn't have a lot of points with the other agents.

"Date, 1/3/765th year. Name, Lucas Tatius. Age, 23. Subject has shown signs of obsession, making similar statements to those he made before. It's also been reported that Lucas has been restless at night, to the point of insomnia.. On the rare times Lucas does get to sleep, he seems to suffer from nightmares, and talk in his sleep. He has been recorded repeating the names of fellow agents, lost on the field, and most likely blames himself for their deaths... With.. sufficient reason, I suppose.. Highly suggest further observation and attendance to therapy."

Ah, our resident mascot, Fyke. I don't know much about Fyke, to be honest. He's only been in Skulk for a year, and only for about three months of it. He got injured pretty bad on his 11th mission and has been healing since recently. Official statement doesn't say much more either.

"Date, 1/4/765th year. Name, Fyke Sexigo. Age, 20. Subject Fyke, hasn't been under observation long, due to injuries sustained in the Stratgo Incident. What limited observations available have shown us, is Fyke seems to have developed a pretty standard fear that will come from being bed ridden for nearly a year because of one mission. Suggest further observation time to gather more details."

As for our new guy, Manny.. Says here he uh.. Talks to himself a lot? That's not usually a good sign. Other than that he seems like a pretty normal guy. 'Claims to hear voices'... Uh.. Okay but, aside from that, now that you've seen all the files, the mission objective, and I've talked enough to kill my throat forever, you can choose how to further proceed. I'd show you the map but we know nothing about the layout of this ship, you're just gonna have to deal with it as you go. I'll remind you of what we need to do before I can hand over full control of the mission to you.

We can switch observation to Waagoosh's team, or switch it to Fuchs' team. It's up to you. Again, feel free to ask what you'd like, if you feel the need.

Fuchs seems to be the most skilled and experienced agent, so he can probably handle himself for now.

Rav's group is to stay put and remain on their guard while we connect to Waagoosh and assess the situation. It would be bad for morale if the team lost their glue.

so of the team these guys plus The new guy Vos are accounted for and we need to find out what the hell happened to the other four. OK then I suggest we check out Wagoosh's team for 2 reasons
1. Fuchs' team has Fuchs in it and after seeing (what we could) of his bio I really don't think we have to worry about him to much
2. Wagoosh's team has Rubah in it and you did say he was kind of a problem child

...also do all the groups in the animal decision have this many mental problems or is skulk a special case? Cause even though I signed up for this I'm a little worried we have some many crazies with guns running around. Just throwing that one out there.

Huh, the transcription agent that copied down that rambling 'mission profile' didn't correct the client mixing up affect and effect, and other stuff like that. This does not fill me with confidence in the professionalism and skill of our office staff.

Professional murderers as a rule are kinda unbalanced. Modern society socializes people to not be murderers so people who actually do go about murdering folks as a regular thing either were cracked before or get cracked during/after getting into the meat-grinder. Key terms: PTSD, psychopathy, borderline personality disorder, and others. People whose socialization included normalization of violence may not be 'as insane' but then you're still dealing with people whose thresholds, behaviours and expectations regarding violence are outside the norm for society. Most military bodies engage in desensitization training because without such desensitization most soldiers in World War 1 and 2 did not shoot at the enemy in battle, and this desensitization is itself often traumatic as well.

Okay, this is just nuts. Do we have an exterior volume map of the target vessel so we can guess how many rooms there might be in this ship to the nearest twenty?!? Mission profile demands retrieval of a small MacGuffin which is small enough to be carried by anybody on board but is likely to be kept in protected, secure storage. Likely places would be a safe in the captain's quarters or areas, a particular high-value-storage area with lots of guards and protection measures, and the list of reasonable places besides those is LONG.

I've got *a* plan that could work: Let's get the engineer to a computer terminal and try to look up schematics and rosters for the ship, then lock down escape methods and neutralize the crew. With nobody left alive we can search at our leisure hopefully. Anybody have a better suggestion?

Okay I'll admit our intelligence on this mission isn't the best, but you work with what you have, alright? What we DO know is that this isn't some luxurious Federation Cruiser with a fancy captain's quarters and VIP seats. In all honestly I doubt we'd ever be commissioned for a mission like that. These kinds of smugglers cargo ships usually have a couple floors for storing the cargo in question, and maybe a floor for personnel. And as the guy said, they know someone's gonna be coming for it, so they'll probably keep it somewhere safe and guarded. Probably dedicate a cargo floor to it, like you said.

>I've got *a* plan that could work: Let's get the engineer to a computer terminal and try to look up schematics and rosters for the ship, then lock down escape methods and neutralize the crew. With nobody left alive we can search at our leisure hopefully. Anybody have a better suggestion?

Again this isn't some fancy ship our guys are on, here. It probably has a few terminals -as most ships do- but you'd have to do some pretty nifty handiwork to do something as far as shutting stuff on the ship down from anywhere but the cockpit, probably. I doubt accessing information would present any trouble though.

>...also do all the groups in the animal decision have this many mental problems or is skulk a special case? Cause even though I signed up for this I'm a little worried we have some many crazies with guns running around. Just throwing that one out there.

You... Really haven't heard about Skulk? They're uh, they're the best! It's just your imagination! They're one of the best teams in the S.O.S. and you're lucky to be in command of 'em. Or, you will be. Once I hand over command. You'll be SUPER LUCKY.

Since I already did that, get to work thugs. Find and break all the damn eject pods and shit like that. You'd better learn to be properly proactive about going to the washroom *before the mission* from it or we'll have to get *more creative* than that.

Okay, I have to ask that operator what the fuck. Do we even have a plan for getting these people back to base somehow if we manage to achieve this objective? I mean, I find it hard to believe that breacher pods designed for hostile insertion inside a spacecraft are going to be a great way to go home afterwards. Are we supposed to be capturing the ship and driving it home, or is there an actual plan here?

Solution to lack of weapons: Wagoosh and Rubah mug this 'chill guy' outside and appropriates his weapons, assuming he hasn't already called security on you. His uniform, if any, may also provide a disguise for future scenarios on the ship. Once this is accomplished, hide his body in the back stall of the restroom and proceed back to the group.

Operator, while they do that, connect us to Fuchs.

Every now and then, the higher ups start this uh, this tournament deal. In this tournament, all the teams of Animal Branch face off in wargames where the scenarios are randomized. Just so happens that you joined our fine, dysfunctional little family 'round the start of the new year, so the guys in charge of training new operators told us to just combine this with a training mission, make you think it's real."

Fuchs: "...We didn't do a very good job."

VulpeS: "It's not like this mission doesn't matter though. We still get shop points for how we preform, and the rank of our team can be increased, which will attract more expensive commissions. We're not ranked the uh, the very best right no-"

???: "Team Fox is in DEAD LAST!"

Vulpes: "Fuck off, Karga. We don't really HAVE commissions right now since it's the start of the year and we're on the bottom. But if we beat Crow and maybe some others, we'll move up. Our last operator wasn't.. the best. But maybe you guys can help us out, huh?"

You said Rubah and Waagoosh are regrouping with the others, but I couldn't tell you where they are. When I was landing on the ship it looked like it had maybe two or three floors, I can't tell how many rooms. From what I saw on our way here I think there's a large open room to the east, and maybe a room in the center of this floor. The ship's a junker so I wouldn't expect much of it technology-wise. I don't know much 'bout security. Just this guy here. Which of course, brings me to a important topic. The mission's started, right? What do you guys want done with this guy?"

Now, don't worry. You may be the worst unit in the team, everyone may hate you, and you may be stupid and incompetent, and totally deserving of that hate, but don't worry. We can make it through this together!

Now, I want you to subvert the shit out of that security guard. Get him on your side.

And if he resists, shoot him in the throat. And DON'T TELL HIM I SAID THAT.

Yeah, no, if this is a 'training wargame' then we've got nothing to offer this dude that they'd like better than a minimally painful 'death' and a chance to go sit out early while everyone else is still fucking around with the dumb 'mission scenario.' I'm not sure how his score is calculated but chances are him and his team get points for him surviving longer, killing more of our dudes and fucking with us better; we don't want any of that to happen.

Mercy kill and then watch for the inevitable grenade drop where he tries to improve his score by taking you guys with him.

Since you two are ahead of the rest of the group I guess that makes you two the team's scouts for now. So once you deal with this guy, move forward and try to map out the area as best you can. Once we get an idea of how to move around we'll send the main group up to support you guys/take out things you couldn't do with just to people and we'll work from there.

Zorro, Rav, Hu, Kitsune, Vos, Rubah and Waagoosh. You guys are team bravo so if we call all of you that don't get confused. Tell me how much 'explosives' you folks have. My favourite way to take down enemy personnel is to suppress with an explosive, pin down with suppressive fire, then target directly with an explosive while the enemy is suppressed, but if explosive ammo and suppression ammo is a factor then I guess we get to do things more stylishly and less thoroughly.

Second.
>>
No. 542825 ID: 4a27cd

This is real life, and in real life most ventilation systems in any installation with *any* concept of security are designed to not be human-passable unless they specifically need to be for maintenance reasons. These are things like the ducts falling apart because they can't support human weight, being too small for a human in the first place, maintenance alarms on each entrance and exit, airflow and air pressure monitoring that would instantly show what was happening, and having impassable hazards like ionizing air filters that would fry you extra crispy while generating a maintenance alert.

I agree that going loud is a pretty one-way decision and add that it would be a bad one when we don't know where ANY of the rest of the other team is. Can we look through the door or otherwise figure out what's on the other side with anybody's chip toys or other gadgets, or are we completely fucking incompetent at handling unfamiliar, hostile environments?!?

couldn't hurt to put someone in the vents
Rubah- maybe seeing as he has a shotgun and since they tend to do well in tight closed in spaces, say like a ventilation shaft there is that, but that would make a lot of noise and if one of those shafts is long enough it might make the shotgun useless
Kitsune does have a longer range weapon but isn't as good a shot as Rebah and we do only have one engineer and I rather not risk him. and again if he has to fire his weapon it's going to make some noise
I think vos is our best bet since he has a silenced weapon and specializes in stealth so let's send out stealth unit to scout ahead... after he takes out the guy in the room if we want him to take that guy out too.
>>
No. 542875 ID: 2baea8

Rubah: Your file says you have extensive CQC and decent Marksmanship training. Think you can hit the guy through the door by throwing your knife? I realize Fuchs also fits the criteria, but he doesn't seem like he's among those needing the extra practice. If you're confident, have Vulpes open the door for you and let 'er fly.

Wagoosh: If Rubah misses, chuck your Flash and EMP to knock out the guy's senses and communications, then you two move in for a melee takeout. If Rubah is not confident in his skills as a carny knife-thrower, this is the secondary plan to take him out.

Vos&Kitsune: You two are our stealth and computer experts, respectively. Get in the vents and see if you can find a way to an access point. Vos can also use his visionoptics functions to see in the dark of the vents and map out enemy locations for allies on the ground, and his silent pistol will be useful in quietly removing isolated targets when necessary.

Does this sound good, team?

Have everyone with a gun guard one of the ways into here and have everyone else storm the room and take that guy out. Then when the other guys come to see what the noise was we ambush the bastards and see how many we can put down before hunting down the rest.

Are we *really fucking lucky* and you can shut off the air pressure in parts of the ship we aren't in? That could be a pretty cool way of disabling anybody who isn't prepped for vacuum hardening.
Assuming we aren't that lucky check upwards first: I'm hoping for you two to find some cool shit to fuck with or wreck that helps the rest of the team.
