You have absolutely no idea why you're here. From what you can remember, you were a normal college student before this happened.

From this side of the room you can see a cupboard and a window, as well as some holes in the wall and floor where the...well, where the horror comes through.

That's more like it.

The current situation is the following: Several horrors have been released from their holding by the highups, for reasons unknown. You're not allowed to actually kill or injure them, but at this point it's easy to pass off as an accident. Everyone's getting restless about it, and the building's turning on itself.

Current inventory: 3 knives, long length of rope, lockpick, spray paint canister, poison kit, handgun, master key, chain key, box of remains.

Current objectives: None officially, but unofficially you're trying to find out what's going on in this facility.

Entities overall: They don't have official names, but nicknames will do just as well. Unreleased we have Shadow, Mr.Crimson, Dirge, and Cumulus. There's a lot more still locked up, but you don't know how many.

{Yeah, that's what I meant, sorry.}

>Well, most relevant first. What's Mr. Crimson like? Second most relevant... what's Shadow like? Third, who's the blue one?

Mr. Crimson is mostly an unfeeling monster, in a quite literal sense. He's more like an animal than most of the Horrors, which is why he's such a fucking pain to get past 99% of the time. Literally. He wanders around aimlessly a lot, just looking for something to eat.

Shadow is more like a human. He's downright tricky in every possible sense of the word, and likes to gloat and manipulate. He commands Mr. Crimson when he gets too bored and wants to see a fight. You shot him earlier because he was annoying you.

The blue one is Cumulus, you've only seen him in passing, but that's not a bad thing. Most of his body is made of thick poisonous gas, you don't know what kind yet but it doesn't really matter. Apparently he can be a god damn pain in the ass when you're trying to run from him.

Can you describe your bearings?

Holy fuck, do you ever shut up.

That was a rhetorical question, don't actually answer that.

The facility is used for training assassins and capturing major enemy beings. Your position is an assassin, you're the second-lowest rank possible. None of the Horrors released can take human form. You don't know exactly where the rest are, most are probably in the containment wing right now. The personnel are all trained ghosts like yourself, except the high-ups and some of the scientists who are all probably vampires or shifters. Contact isn't wise. Terence is an old friend. You think you're in the west wing, but since Shadow was let out the building's had a mind of it's own.

That good enough?
>>
No. 436753 ID: bd5edb

No. If you're not willing or capable to answer any question, just tell. In any event, I'll let you know that I'm also in a foul mood.

>Where the heck did these things COME from?

Apparently it does, if it bleeds you can kill it you guess. That's your blood, missing forearms tend to bleed a bit. No, Crimson's pretty good on his feet, and you sort of had other things to worry about. Five bullets left, and there's an armory somewhere down the hallway.

That's above your paygrade, you don't get told shit when you're just got out of training. Rumour is they come straight from Hell.

>It's possible to assume which direction Crimson went because of the stains on the floor and on the opening to your right. However, directions and actions can't be suggested without a better description of your surroundings.

If that's what you wanted you could have asked. The opening behind you is from the cupboard in Terence's cell. You just came through there. Up ahead is a long hallway, turning off to the left twice. Crimson went out the window at the end.

Ghost as in sneaky assassin, or as in deceased?

My condolences if it's the later. Although a facility run by the dead to contain monsters is an interesting idea, I must admit. Can I infer then that Terence is also deceased? His confusion, inability to explain how he arrived here, and visible head injury make sense if he's a newly dead recruit.

Terence...technically, he is, but like you said, shifty voodoo must have revived him. And he's far from a "new recruit" he's just utterly useless.

Certain levels of the containment wing are restricted, definitely, but as this is level one there isn't even a guard. From memory, levels four to eight are restricted, one is open, two and three you need to sign your name off so they know who's been there.

Most of level one's cells are empty, they're for dumb things like minor penalties or suspensions.

You've only been as high as level two, and that was because you killed another assassin. You think the rest of your unit is in level three, and levels four to six are full up with the Horrors right now, probably. Seven and eight are actually just people, though "people" is a loose term here.

When ghosts die, the same thing happens as when humans die - die normally, anyway. The ghost disappears, burning away, or if you're a stronger ghost you can absorb them into you and use their power.

The Horrors can see you because most monsters normally can. Equal footing and all. It's just humans and the really old beasts that can't see you.

Absorbing powers, you say? Let's katamari our way out of here via murder. Lots of murder. Hmm. Is the absorbed ghost still conscious at that point? Like a hivemind sort of thing?

I presume there is an afterlife, considering there are ghosts and shit. Any idea what it's like?

>Absorbing powers, you say? Let's katamari our way out of here via murder. Lots of murder. Hmm. Is the absorbed ghost still conscious at that point? Like a hivemind sort of thing?

You aren't going to absorb anyone unless it's necessary. It takes a lot of power, you only did it last time because it was your abusive elder brother.

No, the other ghost isn't conscious. Much like ordinary death, you just cease existing. Total blackness, no thoughts or anything. Or something. You were always kind of hazy on the details.

>I presume there is an afterlife, considering there are ghosts and shit. Any idea what it's like?

Funny. This is the afterlife, for a lot of everything. This facility is located in Purgatory's capital city, where most monsters, beasts, and indeed some humans go after death. There's Hell, too, you've seen the gates on the other side of the dimension, but you don't know if there's a Heaven.

You sidle closer to where Lydia is, out of reach of the wall, and she shifts across to make room.

The orb, he answers as you open your mouth. The orb is the gift. It gives back what is lost, what is needed. With very few side effects, he might add. He chuckles as though he's just told a joke, and Lydia makes an agitated growling noise under her breath.

Okay, now that you're both calm and sane again, it's time to talk. We need to discuss options and come up with a plan of action. Lydia knows more than you or us about any of this, it would be good to get some input.

Direct combat with shadow went rather badly, even though he's the tricky manipulator. How are we supposed to deal with him, or the more violence oriented horrors? We need a tactic or weapon that works on them. Is their a supernatural armory somewhere?

You can't win against horrors in psychological warfare and direct combat. However, we can use the environment to our advantage. You go along to the kitchens, hoping you might be able to find some food to stock up on for the journey down, and since there's no sign of danger you think it might be a good time to discuss your options.

Lydia updates you on the situation involving the released horrors and your own resurrection. She explains it casually, like the plot of a movie, but there's a lot of it you're finding unsettling. She says you need to get down to level seven before we can leave from the lobby, there's someone very important down there who can help you. Lydia is anything if not blunt. Well OK here's what she said. You're supposed to be a ghost, like her. Unfortunately, you are not a ghost. Someone managed to resurrect you, through as yet unknown hoodoo. Your return to ghostliness is complicated, because Lydia said that dying again might just land you in Hell instead of making you a ghost again. They hire ghosts to manage these creatures, only from the few who already became ghosts on death.

Though invisible to the living, ghosts are quite solid, probably because this facility is located in Purgatory, and not the living world.

There are two things you should do at this point. First, recover your memories so that you know why you clung to the earthly plane in the first place, which should enable you to become a ghost again (and as such be less prone to bleeding and panic). Secondly, figure out how you got resurrected, the nature of the resurrection, and the purpose behind it. That way you can avoid doing terrible things while you are still in the process of recovering your memories.

Three things. Three things you should do. Thirdly, unequip the orb that gave you headmouth. That shit's just creepy.

You can't unequip the orb, it's stuck to you!

You discuss your plans with Lydia, and she agrees. Getting you to go ghost again would be the best option, and finding out why you were voodooed back to life would certainly be helpful, as there's something very shifty about it.

Well, that's not good.
