>That's what happens when you attack something corrupted with light magic.
>In other words, you killed him.
That almost sounds too easy?

>Try to make a ranged weapon out of your light magic
>you might want to consider a ranged weapon, so that you don’t have to get close to it.
>also mind making a ranged weapon like a crossbow and a bolt.
I close my eyes-

>Every time so far when you've used light magic you close your eyes while focusing. Do not do that this time.
I suppose I should try and learn how to do this with my eyes open. I stare at the oddly shaped stabbing stick and try to shape it into a ranged weapon. The best I can seem to do is make the tip of the stick pointed like an arrow. One thing I do notice though, I can make it just a little bit longer now.

>[cult and attacking the church]
I'm not quite sure what they're capable of, or why that haven't gone after the church directly. The church in town actually opened up very recently. Though it sounds like you know about that and the protests in town during its construction. I didn't think much of it till I heard about some people trying to burn it down the night before it opened.

>Anyway, what's in the box he was messing with?
I go over and inspect the crate and box on the floor.
Inside the small box is a pawful of small rocks? There's a small note as well.

"Here's some stones, but not the one's you're after! Keep wasting your time digging for them."

I'm not quite sure what that's all about? I shift around through the crate a little and find a few more boxes. All of them have similar contents. Just more rocks and notes.

If what he said earlier is true, there's others around. Plus that little chimera thing? I head back over to my imposter "friend".

???: "You're still alive?"

Roxie: "Yeah. Can't say the same for the guy in the purple robe though."

???: "Don't suppose he had a key or something we can use to get out of here?"

Roxie: "Nothing. All that's left is his robe."

Well, we don’t know everything about it, but we have heard about it. Which isn’t hard to do, since we were at the church when some of the priests were talking about it.

>I didn't think much of it till I heard about some people trying to burn it down the night before it opened.
Most likely cultists trying to get rid of the church. Meaning that they’re definitely up to something and the church showing up has them afraid of being discovered.

Hell, they might even be responsible for all of the missing people that have been reported around here!

>>916999
There’s a blinking light in the window over there.

But be careful, since whatever is in here could jump out at any moment from any direction! And whatever you do, don’t try to make a run for it! If you panic, you might end up getting attacked!

Unfortunately for us, there isn't much cover. I'm starting to regret questioning if this place was abandoned or not. I periodically keep my eyes on the ceiling in case the chimera is waiting to jump us.

I'm a little bit at ease when we reach the oddly narrowside of the shack.

Roxie: "Think you can peek into the window without them seeing you?"

This would be a great time for a grenade. You could smash a hole in the window then throw it in, and take out everyone in there.
Honestly, they're less likely to notice you if you look in, since your face is darker. You might want to try to keep that light out of sight though. We can see in, but I can't figure out what's in there. No blinking light anymore, and I don't think I see any people?

I don't answer and just duck under the window as I make my way over to the door.

I slowly approach here from behind. When I feel I'm close enough I point my stick at her.

Roxie: "Stay silent and I won't hurt you."

She instantly hits some keys and a new document covers up whatever she was just doing. Quickly after she types out a message.

Lioness: "Okay. Who are you? What do you want?"

>Quickly after she types out a message.
Normally someone wouldn’t risk moving if they’re told to not move, out of fear of being harmed for moving.

So she would only move if she needed to type a message in order to communicate with you. Which makes me think that this lady is mute, she can only speak with written words or sign language.

That could partially explain why she's on the computer? I shouldn't jump to conclusions though. Still, I'm suspicious about what else she's doing on the computer.

>Ask her why she's here and what she's doing on that computer. Is she with the cultists, or did she come here with someone else?
Roxie: "Are you with the cult?"

She frantically types out another message.
Lioness: "Yes, but not by choice!"

Roxie: "Care to explain that?"

Lioness: "Short Answer: Cursed. Not enough time to explain full situation."
I guess I'll have to give her the benefit of doubt for now.

Roxie: "Alright then, what were you doing on the computer before I came in?

Lioness: "Looking through files for anything valuable. Also writing up a report on what's happened tonight so far."

> Ask where the controls for the doors and lights are?
Roxie: "Where are the controls for the doors and lights?"

It's the kid, he has a knife out. I forget if we let him have one but she's not armed so it's better if you start watching him instead.

It's kindof hard to read what she's typing on the computer and pay attention to him at the same time though. Ask her to start whispering instead. If she's got a curse of silence then uh, ask the kid to come over where you can see him and the monitor at the same time. Earlier he wanted his pocket knife for protection when we going up the stairs.

Roxie: "Don't worry, he's my little helper."

I take a glance to see he's coming over here. She starts typing up something pretty quickly

???: "Hey, what are you stupid! Paws off that keyboard!"

I hear her hit one more key before flinging her arms up. When I look back the screen's blank again.

Roxie: " So, if the door doesn't have a control system. Does that mean it works on some kind of pulley?"

She types out this message out a lot more slowly than the other ones.
Lioness: "That just might be how it works? When we got here it was bolted shut. Getting in and out was easy. Locking it again inside, without locking ourselves as well wasn't. I heard the one in charge talking about using a heavy box of spray paint, but he didn't trust it-

She backs up deletes some of that and rewrites it.

After a brief pause she adds on to that.
Lioness: "Four, counting myself and a chimera."

Guess that just leaves me with one other cultist and chimera to watch for then.
>Maybe you can get her to the church?

Roxie: "Would you like to try and escape with us? I've got connections to the church. Perhaps they'd be able to lift your curse?"

If he was with the cult, captive or not. I'm not sure why they'd need to trick me then? Wouldn't it have been easier to just get the box from him afterwards? I guess if they knew he'd betray them, they'd need a backup plan like an imposter to intercept it then?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the package is just uh... really special candy. Thinking about it though, why would the cult need...candy? I can guess why shorty here would want it, but it doesn't seem like something the cult would waste all the effort for? If it was an enchantment stone, it'd be understandable. Lioness: "When you're done with whatever over there, I've got another hunch."

???: "Risky! Let her go free on the computer? She might set off an alarm!"

Roxie: "Would you drop it already? If she was going to set off an alarm she'd have done it by now. Go ahead, see what you can find."

After a bit of looking around, she pulls up another text document for us.
Lioness: "I couldn't find an image, but I did find this?

All zones in the warehouse should be marked with the appropriate signage! Please report to your supervisor if a sign is missing, misplaced, or defaced!
A1: Warehouse entrance and loading/unloading zone.
A2: Warehouse main floor. Due to the vandalism, we are requiring all workers to memorize the forklift routes until replacement arrow markers can be placed.
A3 - A6: Main floor Storage Zones. See product sheets for more info.
A-S: Stairway to A-7. Located by A5.
A7 - A9: Upper floor archival storage. For discontinued or out of production products.
B: Security Surveillance Station. Located in the very back south end of the warehouse.
F: Fire/Emergency Escape. Located east of B. Note that opening this door will set off the emergency alarm. City Fire Department will be alerted and dispatched!
H: In the event of criminal activity, hostage situation, or other sensitive emergency an alternate underground tunnel is located here. For obvious security reasons, its location is not being marked or noted. Only supervisors and above are trusted with its location.

Roxie: "I don't suppose you know where 'H' would be?"

Lioness: "Sorry. This is my first time hearing about it?"

Well, at least now I've got a few options at hand. I could take my chances with the fire escape and hope we can make it out before we get caught, or I could look around for that other hidden exit. I could also risk it and hunt down the other cult member and the chimera?

I revised this update since the previous version ended off kind of "strong" and didn't leave a lot of room for input or ideas.

Go scope out the fire escape, even if you cant use it it might still be worth it for setting off the alarm.

We can't take her, her family is being used as leverage.
I kindof want to look around for the tunnel but it could be anywhere and wandering around for too long will increase the likelyhood of running into the chimera. On the other hand, this place is so worn out the tunnel might be really obvious...

If it's possible, the best escape plan would be to tie her up so she can't be blamed for the fuses going out, then disable the fusebox so we can escape through the fire exit unnoticed and drive off.

That sounds like a good plan.

But we’ll have to make it look convincing, so we might need to hit her to make it look like someone snuck up on her. And we’ll need to find something to tie her up, which should also include something to cover her mouth to look like we wanted to keep her quiet, since if we snuck up on her, we wouldn’t know that she can’t talk.

>Go scope out the fire escape, even if you can't use it, it might still be worth it for setting off the alarm.
>Take Lioness and Shorty with you but remind them both to stay quiet.
>We can't take her, her family is being used as leverage.
Roxie: "We're going to check the fire escape. Before we go, do you want to come with?"

Lioness: "I'm sure. If I'm gone, they'll turn and go after my friends and family. I don't want them involved too."

>the best escape plan would be to tie her up so she can't be blamed for the fuses going out, then disable the fusebox so we can escape through the fire exit unnoticed and drive off.
>That sounds like a good plan.
Looking around, the best thing I can see is using cords for the keyboard and computer mouse as rope.
Roxie: "Alright before we go, un-plug the keyboard and mouse."

Lioness: "Why?"

Roxie: "We're going to try and shut everything off on the fusebox. Before that though, we're going to tie you up so it looks like you didn't just let us come in here and do whatever."

Lioness: "I'm not a fan of it, but alright."

She goes under the desk and unplugs everything. Afterwards I start tying her up the best I can. You know, for how often these stupid things to tangle up and get stuck in a knot on their own, they would decide to pain to tie when you need them to! I end up having her sit under the table and just tie her arms up and around one of the legs. I make sure to keep the knots loose enough though in case something happens so she can still undo them herself to escape.

> include something to cover her mouth to look like we wanted to keep her quiet
It doesn't look like there's anything else in the room I could use for that.

> we’ll have to make it look convincing, so we might need to hit her
I'm not beating her up. I could mess up her fur a bit though and make it look like she's got some bad bed head going on.
I ruffle her head a bit and try to get some fur sticking up.

Roxie: "There, now it looks like you didn't go down without a little fight either."

With the lioness taken care of, I go over to the box on the wall and shut everything off.

Roxie: "Stay safe, I wish we could help you more."

We leave the little shack and find our way over to the fire escape.
Roxie: "Moment of truth. Get ready to book it if the alarm still goes off."

???: " You don't need to tell me twice. I'm booking it out of here alarm or not. "

Roxie: "Now what kind of scout or bodyguard here just leaves a girl to fend for herself?"

???: "The kind that tried to rob you first?"

Well, I can't say I'll miss him much.

I open the door and shorty takes off running without me. I don't waste time and book it outside as well.

I get back to where my scooter is. Thankfully nobody messed with it while I was in there. I throw my goggles on and take off.

Once I'm closer to town and on the main road, my phone starts buzzing like crazy. I pull over to the side of the road to see what's up?

Apparently I've got about five missed calls from boss, and it's eleven at night now? Didn't think I was in there that long? I better call her and see what's up.

She answers right after the first ring.
Roxie's Boss: "I need you in my office, now!"

Roxie: "That's two and half hours away from me! What's going on?"

Roxie's Boss: "That's what I want to ask you. Get here as soon as you can!"

She hang ups.

I hop back onto my scooter and make take off for the boss' place. I get the feeling I still have a long night ahead of me.
