I don't want to admit it, but I need to face it. There's a chance someone else could be in here out to get me, and standing around yelling could end up getting me killed.
Roxie: "Come on, we're settling this outside."

Before he can say anything or protest, I grab his arm and start dragging him with me.
When we get to the door though, it slides down and slams shut!

I hear something outside make a heavy click.

My phone isn't getting reception?

Magic is now likely in play here. Draw your weapon if only because it's much brighter than your phone and you don't want someone or thing to get the drop on you.

Well, shit. That’s not good! Seems like there’s probably some kinda magical interference going on.

You’ve got the package with you, right? Whoever is doing this will have to come to you to get it.

Try to light the place up with your magic. Focus on making it bright instead of giving it a shape.

Is that even possible? I could understand having no signal since we're a little ways out of town. Not sure about the door either way though.

I put my phone away and bring out the beat stick again. I try to make it make it brighter this time, but it doesn't seem to change much. At least I can see.

.....oh, right, you don’t know about that. Basically, the color purple means something or someone is cursed. Any type of light magic is necessary for either severely hurting something/someone that’s cursed or, if it’s someone you know, removing the curse to turn that person back to normal.

Unfortunately, at your current skill level, you’d have a hard time trying to cure someone.

I'm a little familiar with it, not much though. Blitz never really taught me much, and what else I know is from running into the cult a couple times.

I'm not sure I can make this thing long enough to go up that far? Maybe I can at least get the sharp part?

We make to and past the first crate on the north path with ease. Unfortunately we get stuck at the middle crate when the cultist turns around and talks to them self?

Cult: "I'm starting to regret wishing someone would snuff out that holy light. As worrying as it is that the church is snooping around now, it's hard to see in these units. Even after killing him, that tick eating traitor manages to waste my time."

I nearly jump when I hear something squeak and growl.

As soon as he starts digging through the crate again, we book it for the third, and then the forth crate next to the wall.

Now's the perfect chance to get him, but I need I plan. If I bring out the beat stick, he's going to notice the light. I could try using the throwing knives someone was kind enough to give me, but I'm not sure how effective they're going to be on this guy.

Just use one of the throwing knifes as a regular knife. I mean they are balanced for better throwing so it should be better at digging in flesh... so stab him as he does not believe in the right god(ess/esses/s)!

Right, throwing them in the dark like this probably isn't the best idea anyway.

That's what happens when you attack something corrupted with light magic.

Anyway, what's in the box he was messing with? Check that out, then find the door controls. Also, try to make a ranged weapon out of your light magic, because you probably don't want to get into melee combat with the other thing in here.

For instance, maybe imagine a rocket? Or fireworks? Or a water balloon full of light? You just want something you can throw or launch that will explode when it hits.

It only feels off because this has never happened to you before. We’re just gonna tell you that this is what happens when something corrupted gets hit with light magic. In other words, you killed him.

Now all we have to do is find a way to get out of here. And hopefully avoid the other thing that’s in here.

But if you have to fight it, you might want to consider a ranged weapon, so that you don’t have to get close to it.

Oh, and make sure you find your “friend”, so that he doesn’t get killed.

I suppose I should try and learn how to do this with my eyes open. I stare at the oddly shaped stabbing stick and try to shape it into a ranged weapon. The best I can seem to do is make the tip of the stick pointed like an arrow. One thing I do notice though, I can make it just a little bit longer now.

I'm not quite sure what they're capable of, or why that haven't gone after the church directly. The church in town actually opened up very recently. Most likely cultists trying to get rid of the church. Meaning that they’re definitely up to something and the church showing up has them afraid of being discovered.

Honestly, they're less likely to notice you if you look in, since your face is darker. You might want to try to keep that light out of sight though. We can see in, but I can't figure out what's in there. No blinking light anymore, and I don't think I see any people?

I slowly approach here from behind. When I feel I'm close enough I point my stick at her.

She instantly hits some keys and a new document covers up whatever she was just doing. Quickly after she types out a message.

Normally someone wouldn’t risk moving if they’re told to not move, out of fear of being harmed for moving.

So she would only move if she needed to type a message in order to communicate with you. Which makes me think that this lady is mute, she can only speak with written words or sign language.

That could partially explain why she's on the computer? I shouldn't jump to conclusions though. Still, I'm suspicious about what else she's doing on the computer.

>Ask her why she's here and what she's doing on that computer. Is she with the cultists, or did she come here with someone else?
Roxie: "Are you with the cult?"

She frantically types out another message.

Roxie: "Care to explain that?"

Lioness: "Short Answer: Cursed. Not enough time to explain full situation."
I guess I'll have to give her the benefit of doubt for now.

Lioness: "Looking through files for anything valuable. Also writing up a report on what's happened tonight so far."

She types out this message out a lot more slowly than the other ones.
Lioness: "That just might be how it works? When we got here it was bolted shut. Getting in and out was easy. Locking it again inside, without locking ourselves as well wasn't. I heard the one in charge talking about using a heavy box of spray paint, but he didn't trust it-

If he was with the cult, captive or not. I'm not sure why they'd need to trick me then? Wouldn't it have been easier to just get the box from him afterwards? I guess if they knew he'd betray them, they'd need a backup plan like an imposter to intercept it then?

Right. I could probably speculate on what's going on for awhile, but that's a waste of time when I've got a source for answers standing in front of me.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the package is just uh... really special candy. Thinking about it though, why would the cult need...candy? I can guess why shorty here would want it, but it doesn't seem like something the cult would waste all the effort for? If it was an enchantment stone, it'd be understandable. Roxie: "Never mind! None of your business!"

I turn back around and see the lioness is typing still.
Lioness: "When you're done with whatever over there, I've got another hunch."

Roxie: "What would that be?"

Lioness: "If you don't mind, I think there might be a floor plan or map of the warehouse on the computer. I'm not sure how to go about opening the big door, but maybe there's a fire escape you could use?"

Roxie: "That'd be-"

???: "Risky! Let her go free on the computer? She might set off an alarm!"

Roxie: "Would you drop it already? If she was going to set off an alarm she'd have done it by now. Go ahead, see what you can find."

After a bit of looking around, she pulls up another text document for us.
Lioness: "I couldn't find an image, but I did find this?

All zones in the warehouse should be marked with the appropriate signage! Please report to your supervisor if a sign is missing, misplaced, or defaced!
A1: Warehouse entrance and loading/unloading zone.
A2: Warehouse main floor. Due to the vandalism, we are requiring all workers to memorize the forklift routes until replacement arrow markers can be placed.
A3 - A6: Main floor Storage Zones. See product sheets for more info.
A-S: Stairway to A-7. Located by A5.
A7 - A9: Upper floor archival storage. For discontinued or out of production products.
B: Security Surveillance Station. Located in the very back south end of the warehouse.
F: Fire/Emergency Escape. Located east of B. Note that opening this door will set off the emergency alarm. City Fire Department will be alerted and dispatched!
H: In the event of criminal activity, hostage situation, or other sensitive emergency an alternate underground tunnel is located here. For obvious security reasons, its location is not being marked or noted. Only supervisors and above are trusted with its location.

Roxie: "I don't suppose you know where 'H' would be?"

Lioness: "Sorry. This is my first time hearing about it?"

Well, at least now I've got a few options at hand. I could take my chances with the fire escape and hope we can make it out before we get caught, or I could look around for that other hidden exit. I could also risk it and hunt down the other cult member and the chimera?

I revised this update since the previous version ended off kind of "strong" and didn't leave a lot of room for input or ideas.

We can't take her, her family is being used as leverage.
I kindof want to look around for the tunnel but it could be anywhere and wandering around for too long will increase the likelyhood of running into the chimera. On the other hand, this place is so worn out the tunnel might be really obvious...

If it's possible, the best escape plan would be to tie her up so she can't be blamed for the fuses going out, then disable the fusebox so we can escape through the fire exit unnoticed and drive off.

That sounds like a good plan.

But we’ll have to make it look convincing, so we might need to hit her to make it look like someone snuck up on her. And we’ll need to find something to tie her up, which should also include something to cover her mouth to look like we wanted to keep her quiet, since if we snuck up on her, we wouldn’t know that she can’t talk.

>the best escape plan would be to tie her up so she can't be blamed for the fuses going out, then disable the fusebox so we can escape through the fire exit unnoticed and drive off.

Looking around, the best thing I can see is using cords for the keyboard and computer mouse as rope.
Roxie: "Alright before we go, un-plug the keyboard and mouse."

Lioness: "Why?"

Roxie: "We're going to try and shut everything off on the fusebox. Before that though, we're going to tie you up so it looks like you didn't just let us come in here and do whatever."

Lioness: "I'm not a fan of it, but alright."

She goes under the desk and unplugs everything. Afterwards I start tying her up the best I can. You know, for how often these stupid things to tangle up and get stuck in a knot on their own, they would decide to pain to tie when you need them to! I end up having her sit under the table and just tie her arms up and around one of the legs. I make sure to keep the knots loose enough though in case something happens so she can still undo them herself to escape.

> include something to cover her mouth to look like we wanted to keep her quiet
It doesn't look like there's anything else in the room I could use for that.

> we’ll have to make it look convincing, so we might need to hit her
I'm not beating her up. I could mess up her fur a bit though and make it look like she's got some bad bed head going on.
I ruffle her head a bit and try to get some fur sticking up.

Roxie: "There, now it looks like you didn't go down without a little fight either."
