Or how new climates and environments to grow in can help direct a plant to grow more properly?

"I should speak to the High Druids."
"Sure! Have a good time at the Seed Festival. I hope you inseminate lots of women."
"They are participating in the Seed Festival?"
"No, they're at home reading a book while the rest of Wonderseed is entangled in a massive orgy."
"I see. What can you tell me about the Trollbarrows?"
"Why would you want to know about the Trollbarrows? It's a system of caves that delivers fresh water that sustains Wonderseed's trees. If there's still actual trolls down there then they've been stuck with us for the last couple hundred centuries."
>>

We should probably wait until the festival is over before talking to the High Druid.

Ask how long it is. If it's longer than today, then you know what face to make.

For an elf, she's quite down-to-earth. I like her. Ask her how long this "festival" will go on for. Be prepared to not like the answer, as time works different for elves.

Ask her if there might be a way back to the surface from deep in the barrows, so you could just pop up from outside of elven lands. Like, perhaps by finding the source of the freshwater.

Anyway, try asking her about the various items around since you're obviously going to be stuck here for a while.

... why are they not doing it if this is common culture?
This shows one thing- a friend of the elves doesn't necessarily need to participate in the Seed festival to be a friend.

you could just have petal escort you under the cover of being part of the festival (the elves will likely let you two go past. They'll think you two have reformed)

This'll give time to get to the High elves!

>why are they not doing it if this is common culture? This shows one thing- a friend of the elves doesn't necessarily need to participate in the Seed festival to be a friend.

I'm afraid that was Petal's sarcasm dear. They are most assuredly taking part in the Seed Festival.

If push comes to shove, we could burn down the forest. I bet that'd let us leave. ...or flayed alive. But it'd be worth it to get under those dirty hippie elves' skin.

... I just failed didn't I...

Well, the same idea can apply. Maybe it'd apply even better in that situation. They go in. The elves think we've reformed her. We say we're going to the outskirts for our own enjoyment, then run like hell...

Or we somehow find a way to make it seem she's reformed, and see if the resulting respect lets us get out with some allies.

"How long does the festival last?"
"They warm up during sunlight and begin The Giving and The Recieving from dusk till dawn, then they repeat it several times. It depends on the weather."
"What happens to those trying to leave?"
"The High Druids put up an illusion that makes you walk in circles. You'll always end up back here."

But if water continuesly flows through the Trollbarrows then it must also exit somewhere. Well thought!

"Is there a way back to the surface from the barrows? Do you know where the water comes from?"
"I've never found a good map."

Then someone has to make the map, looks like that someone is going to be us, better get some gear together and anything you may need, light sources, food, ropes, ect.

Its time for a proper Dungeon Crawl!

Alright, perhaps instead we can bring her the Grek's Mix and elven scripts through the trollbarrows. She can stay here... we'll need to find a way to revisit her without raising suspicion though.

Wait, what about your mount, Ridder? I hope the route through the cave is big enough for it.

Check your inventory, if there's anything that would protect books well please notify. However if not, is using the the armor you have as a carrying device possible?

Otherwise ask if all that is even necessary? You merely wish to help her out of the forest of a lustful tyrant, if only for a little bit. We could always return later for the books when we're better prepared. Besides, her interests isn't in the books or lessons of the past anyway, its pure spite. What is more spiteful than escaping?

When I was first catching up I was like

>High Druids

"Oh god, this isn't going to be good."

And then this chick showed up and I was like

>Mad Petal

"Oh fuck yes new ally."

And then she was like "We don't leave Ravenho-Wonderseed." and I was like

>FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF-

And now I suggest we pack her things and get her on the road to the trollbarrows.

But yeah. Get there, watch for surprises, and whatever you do, stay the fuck away from the orgy. You will not survive.

I shall delay removing my armor until we reach any water.

"Please wait outside for a moment while I pack some things."

I exit the house.
Outside light has faded. I realize I have lost absolutely all sense of time.

After some time, or perhaps a very short or long time, Mad Petal joins me outside. She has put on a set of old looking armor.

"Just in case. I've never been down to the Trollbarrows, but it has to be a nasty place if it's used as a punishment. What about you, sir knight? Are you going to stare things to death?"
"My mount and spear were taken from me upon arrival."
"I'm pretty sure I know where they put them. Would you like to risk getting them back, or should we move out and return later like you said?"

Getting your spear is too much of a risk. You're risking getting caught trying to get the spear, and you're upping the ante of any confrontation you get in by having a weapon. Elves have been put into the Trollbarrows unarmed, you'll be fine.

You're right. I can not leave the banner that I have carried with me for so long. It has seen the face of Lord Malto when he was alive and needs to relay this image to foe and friend.

"The mount is valuable, but the spear.. is important. I have to retrieve it."
"Let's go then."

We move out into the darkness. In the distance, few lights burn on ground level, but the sky is lit up by a thousand lights as the festival's cries of pleasure echo along the trees.
Tonight new lives will surely be conceived, but for me it signifies another beginning: That of a new partner and friendship.
