My name is Triplilmus, and this is my first mission without supervision. Sgt Blanker sent me in here to make sure no raiders are hiding in this town we just attacked. I'm down to the last few places, looks like a store on the right, another one on the left, then there's a house and a big building down at the end of the street. If I see any raiders they shouldn't cause any trouble, they probably don't have anything that can hurt my ride armor.

>What was inhabiting the town before it was attacked?

Raiders were using it as a base.

I break down the door and walk into the former shop, there are all sorts of jars on the shelves and broken glass all over the floor.

Scan the walls for writing or symbols, or papers to that effect inside of jars. These creatures may have left a message for their ilk.

What's a raider?

Somebody who attacks us of course!

There's not any writing on the jars or anything, just a bunch of spilled juice and preserves it looks like. A few jars are intact but I can't grab them with the armor, it would just crush them.

The gun cools down on its own, it is probably heating up so fast because of the damage

That chair is not going to work. It just breaks into smaller pieces when I try to grab it.

The top left gauge is my battery voltage, under that is the weapon heat.
The warning lights above the fuel percentage are for the optics, which are out, the light, which is out, and the air, which is out.
The gauge after that is the engine temperature; next is the damage readout, undamaged sections are green, slight damage is yellow, severe damage is red. Parts that are not responding are white. After that is the oil pressure, and then the ammo count.

It's starting to get chokey in here from all the exhaust.

I think you need to get your eyesight checked or something, because we never murdered any children. Also, I don't know why the fuck they'd send us immediately back here after picking us up, so chances are we won't be near children anyway.

P.S. oh man you're fucking brilliant, let's just let our superiors know we deserted so they can find us and execute us.

Also, all you guys pushing to get rid of the mech to make it seemed like we died, hmm yes, hmm. Right so we repair the mech, yes. Then we fucking toss it off a cliff. This is brilliant and surely cannot go wrong anywhere no certainly not.

>This is the only city children ever existed in, ever.
>Raiding other towns and massacring their inhabitants won't cause any types of similar trauma.

No, 7eda8b has it right. We're deserting because we've found out that we're ruining people's lives. It's not 'oh, this kid's cute, let's tuck it away and keep massacring it's people wholesale', it's 'oh, we're butchering a sapient, intelligence, language-capable race for no good reason and it's hurting people, my superiors have been lying to me for the last however X many years, I can't do this anymore.'

I actually agree with leaving a message, but perhaps not as explicit as 'I'm deserting', that's just asking for trouble - Rather, I'd leave a two word message. 'THEY TALK'.

How long would it take to fix the car? I'd either repair the most important parts of the mech, or the car, and take the vehicle out of the city as soon as possible. You need the extra hours of travel to make yourself scarce. :\

How long can we continue being sent on jobs to slaughter villages without killing any children? And even if we "merely" slaughter all the men and women, does that somehow make it okay?

Yes. We should lay out exactly why we're quitting, to let as many people as possible know the truth.

Why don't we just fix up the bug, tell the kid to drive for a day away from the baddies, while we get rescued, get a NEW mech, and THEN desert? Oh yeah and if we're going to start a revolution, we might be able to pick up useful materials/intelligence back at camp.

I have no safe solutions. Her being down there means the car will likely stall a lot. Trying to tie stuff to your shoes or the pedals can result in those things falling off at a bad time. Modifying the seat so you can sit lower and reach the pedals means you can't see out.
