After everything? After I collect the Items? After I 'save the world'?
I.... I don't know. It's been my only goal for so long... if I finish it... If I finish it..
I'll have nothing.
And I don't want a mate. I don't deserve one.
Gram gives a small bow to the king and very politely explains the situation. The King does nothing but give a few small nods. His expression is one of someone who's been alive for far too long and Gram can tell he must have seen something like this happen some time in his past. When Gram finishes the king stares into the orb again and speaks
"Mr. Elric, I'm aware of your problem but I'm afraid I can not directly help you."
>"Oh. I see."
>Stupid Light Elves...
"Mr. Elric, I can assure you it is not because I view you as a inferior species. Everyone is equal in the Time Room. I am telling you this because in every timeline in which I help you I die."
>"What?"
"I have a gift Mr. Elric. A very rare gift even among the Light Elves, one that came through a combination of many different bloods. I have the power to exist in any timeline I want to at any moment while keeping my physical body and memories.
Do you understand what this means Mr. Elric?"
>"That means.... that means you already know what happens. That means you know who wins this fight! What happens to me!"
"Yes. while I do not know everything I do know a lot. Some time in the future Mr. Elric you 'will' gain all 207 Items. You will combine their powers and you will use it to defeat all who dare threaten this world. However you will also die."
>"What!?"
"After defeating your enemy you will be killed. I've seen it happen again and again. Your life will be sacrificed for the world. It will be a painless death, you will be disintegrated instantly."
>"I'm going to die!? No matter what!?"
"I did not say that Mr. Elric. Nothing is certain, not even destiny. There is but one timeline in which you do not die."
>"Can you tell me about it? What did I do different?"
"If you wish to survive the oncoming battle you must see to it that your master is revived and mend the broken relationship with your sister."
>"She saves me?"
"In a way, yes."
>"Why are you telling me this? Isn't this messing with the timeline?"
"No. I'm telling you this because I'm supposed to tell you this in this timeline. In another one I would have simply ignored you or maybe I would not have even been here. maybe I'm already dead. It's very uncertain. And besides, I want to see you get a happy ending just this once."
>"I see, thank you sir"
"One more thing, under this tree there is a Item. It is one of the ten, the Earth Item. It is yours for the taking. Make sure Tikka takes the trial if you are going to do so. It is one trial you would not win."
>"thank you. Just in case... If I ever need your help again, would you tell me your name so I can find you?"
the King laughs.
"My father always said a great mage should never reveal there name. However you are not the cause of my death, I see no harm in it. My name is Cecil Von Central IV. Now go."
Gram bows again and leaves.
