This has to be the dumbest, or most cowardly Engsami you've ever seen...

But wait... it looks like he caught himself on the wall near the bottom to land safely... hmm... how should I go about pursuit now?
No. 15111 ID: f95743

Who are you again?
No. 15114 ID: 9a71e2

Shoot it, or at least at it, and ask questions when you can pin it down.
No. 15120 ID: 036360

Well it's already proven itself not to be all that bright, and it would suck to leave this kick-ass sniper position. Keep an eye out.. wait for a clear shot..

While we're at it..take another quick look around your surroundings, we don't want one sneaking behind us...

That cowardly savage (And strangely adorable) Engsami won't escape this place alive.. @_@

Also... yeah.. who are we again?
No. 15124 ID: 6b50de

Remember what an Engsami is, exactly. Does this really look like one?

I'm Tav Unt'bel, I'm the last Lohrke in the city, of course. I seem to have picked up a nasty habit of talking to myself, not good really, but it helps deal with the otherwise crushing loneliness.

Engsami come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, this one is probably just one of the flying types. I mean... what else could it be?

Can't really get a good shot from this angle without heading into the shaft myself... I'll try flushing him out in the open.

But your gun shoots lightning and shits thunder. Just hold it out and shoot blind. In such a tight hole it's bound to atleast stun the idiot. You can go finish it off safely then.

The SHOCKER LANCE can't fire concentrated bolts without the GUIDE RODS to attract them. Trying to fire a wild bolt would put me, and anyone around me, at just as much risk as the intended target.

Adorable as this Engsemi may be, it's still an intruder... and yet...

no... no...

To tell the truth, all of us tend to be a little big "down stairs." But how bad is it when the voices in your own head don't know what gender you are? Regardless, I'm a guy, at least I was last time I checked...

Well, I know it's not a Kren, and I know it's not a Lohrke, Engsami are the only other things I've ever seen, and I'd rather not let my guard down when I'm surrounded by potential hostiles.

I know he's not getting out through the alley. The most obvious exit for him would be the gaping hole in the wall, which is just to my right here.
No. 15450 ID: 1405ca

Does the building in front of us have a door on its east side (Can't really see it on the map).

If so, cut through the building, if you're quick about it you might be able to catch him in the alley ways.

If not? A direct chase seems viable... he'll run himself into a corner eventually.

The door into the Barracks is on the opposite side of the cave linking it to Town Hall.

Wouldn't you know it, he turned down toward the junction cave. I collapsed that just last week on another Engsami... heh... good times... Anyway, looks like I've got him cornered now.

What the HELL? Why am I thinking this NOW? This is ENTIRELY the wrong situation to be thinking about this!

>Tell it you are Demesi of Angoldas. You are a Nedynvor and you just want to get back on surface away from this horrible place. Oh god, don't kill me.
>W-what's an "Engsami?"

The creature stands still for a moment, muttering to itself as if having an entirely separate conversation before locking eyes back on you as it waves the end of it's weapon at you and barks back.
"You're either the absolute dumbest Engsami I've ever seen, or clearly not one... Engsami are vicious reptile men from the surface, and not one of them would even think of turning and running at the sight of a Lohrke... I've never heard of a 'Nedynvor.' Give me one good reason I should trust you."

You then regale him with your exploits in the outer cave, and the blocked entrance, and the Kren, and so on.

You hand the Lohrke a MUNDU WORM
>So... what's your name?

"Tav." he directly responds, eying the worm as it wriggles and snaps it's mandibles in his hand.

>Why are you so protective of this place? Do others live here?"
You inquire.

"Not anymore. I'm a soldier, I was part of the former militia here, and when the Engsami showed up, we were overwhelmed and I'm all that's left of the militia. A handful of the citizens made it to the escape tunnel. As long as the Engsami think there's more of us up here, they won't go looking for the escapees, so I make a general nuisance of myself and keep their attention on me."

>Were the Engsami the ones who trashed the town?

"Duh. I've been finding and relocating the bodies of the lucky citizens who died in the raid and giving them proper burials, but the unlucky ones got dragged off through some tunnel the Engsami burrowed into town."

"This thing is still alive..." Tav quickly changes the subject, as he glares at the wriggling worm.

*ZOT* with a flick of the bio-electric tip of your tongue, you render the worm paralyzed.

"N-no, I just... don't like talking about what happened here... it tends to make me emotional... and when I get emotional, I get sloppy... We should probably move soon, don't want any Engsami finding us just sitting around, do we? The only way I can think of to get you out is through the escape tunnel, but the problem there is it needs power, and the Engsami did something at the power station to cut all power to the city."

You arrive at the power station, located in the Industrial District of the city. The building is quite dark inside. Tav enters first, a purple glow radiating around him, and hurries over to an open device and begins rummaging around in it. The inside of the building is nothing like you've ever seen on your home island. It's massive space, various doo-hickies, and cold metal feel seem almost alien to you.

Tav speaks up, "We're in luck! The idiots couldn't figure out Lohrke Technomancy if their lives depended on it. They just smashed up a few things and took out parts until things stopped working apparently. It should be fixable, but we'll need to find some things to fix it though."

"What we'll need are: Some LENGTH OF WIRE, to repair the busted wiring,
a GEAR, to replace the one that appears to have been removed,
a FLAT PIECE OF METAL, to bridge a connector,
a HAND CRANK, to wind the springs,
and it looks like three JOLTS OF ELECTRICITY to get the ball rolling..."

After traversing several paths and backtracking form various dead ends, you walk down a long straight corridor, the walls lined with Murder Holes, until you come across a downward sloping path. You venture in and come across what looks to be a small weapons room. There are boxes set up as if they were once some form of makeshift barricade, and a closed door on the war wall.

The boxes are sealed quite firmly shut.
There is what you assume to be a WEPON lying on what you assume is a WEPON WRACK.
There is no cabinet, there is a series of small cubby holes with signs on them in a language you don't understand, and an area that looks like something large was hanging on it with the same sign, but you have a feeling you know what the signs are getting at based off the icon used.

The grip on the weapon is very large, it fits your large hands quite well. There is a trigger of sorts along one side of the handle, but nothing happens when you pull it. There appears to be a small socket or something at the bottom of the hilt with a little arrow pointing to it and something written very small in a language you don't understand.

You place the LANTERN on one of the crates and bring the socket end of the weapon to your head. Your hand, holding down the trigger causes the weapon to hum with power briefly, but it quickly subsides as it seems to lose power again.

It looks like the blood has lead me to one of the south sniper roosts. The closest places to here are the Traveler's Alley, and Market Place.

Odds are good they'd take him someplace easy to set an ambush up in, so the Market and Traveler's Alley are likely areas with their jumble of shops and multiple large inns.

Unfortunately no, I don't

I couldn't see anything from the roost, so if they're in the Alley, they're hiding pretty well.

I was never really very fond of Traveler's Alley... just a cluster of Inns catering to a bunch of freeloading surface dwellers. But I guess I can't complain since their money is just as good down here. Anyway, there's an inn to my left, and one straight ahead. The one to my right is in very poor shape and doesn't appear very structurally sound, so I doubt they'd be in there... which should I check first?
No. 22193 ID: bd2eec

The first, structurally unstable one.
That's where they'd set up.
That broken roof could let them look down at you entering the second inn and allow them to attack you from behind and catch you by surprise.
But if you know them to be stupid and not able to think strategically like that, go into the second, more stable inn first.

Kyaos and Ga'nneda are the generals of the Engsami invasion force that hit this city. Kyaos is one of those flying type I mentioned before, and Ga'nneda, well, he's more akin to a rock than anything else, slow, dumb, and very hard to hurt. Well, time for a strategic manouvering also sometimes called retreat. He seems to have hit you in the crumbling building so he shouldn't be able to follow. Nothings stopping him from toppling the building on top of you unfortunately. So move fast and get out trough the back and out of sight. Sneak back behind him and shoot him behind the knee. The gas mask was for the Engsami. Shortly *grunt* after the first wave of the invasion hit, some of us soldiers observed the lizards breathing some sort of toxic clouds from their mouths. The results of the clouds were variable based off the Engsami, but it's something we usually tried to avoid.

Unfortunately, I think you're right... Nnngh, a tactical retreat does look to be in order.

I believe since our weapon is lacking in range now, we ought to find a high spot that we can leap from silently and land on the big guy. Once We close the distance sufficiently I doubt he'll be able to do much if we land on his back.

A high vantage point such as...The statue perhaps? Or somewhere where we can be more concealed when we make said leap of faith?
No. 27670 ID: 6faa8c

High vantage point would be optimal. Statue sounds good.
No. 27677 ID: fdc826

I agree with the concealed leap-of-faith, but I think we'd be too easy to spot up on that statue.

If Gamera's moving south(?) and we can get there in time, the slanted roof which Satan pointed out here:

would work quite well.

Do we have any very close range weaponry, such as a knife/dagger/entrenching tool (mini shovel)?

Also, considering we're going into some CQC here, are there any bulky pieces of armor/equipment we won't need? We might even need to temporarily dump the gun and backpack, if need be.

Warehouse rooftop it is.

My armor is pretty badly dented from that blow, I don't even want to think about what would have happened had I not been wearing it. The air compressor has a somewhat small crack in it's hull, all in all, I'm surprised that's all it's got.

In my bag I have DEMESI'S SCARF and the ENGSAMI KNIFE. Some one stole the SHOCK CUDGEL from my quarters, probably Kyaos, so the Knife currently looks like my only real melee option, though the SHOCK LANCER could probably be improvised as a melee weapon.

I can hear Ga'nneda stomping around below me, they probably know I haven't gone to far.

If it comes down to it, can you rig your shock lancer into an IED?
No. 27714 ID: fdc826

Removing the armor is out of the question, then.

Looks like the stealth drop, followed by berserker rage is our only option here.

...And as for an improvised weapon, could you possibly turn your lancer into a kind of electric club? It would be exceedingly badass to turn it on, then drop several stories and pull some Thor shit right onto Mini-Rodan's head.

Followed by a quick shanking to finish her, of course.
No. 27715 ID: bde1b8

I agree with >>27699
but instead of diving down with a dagger, use a Guide Rod. With gravity on your side, you should have enough force to break through Gamera's skin, or kill Kyaos outright, and if you can pierce through that natural armor then your lightning gun will become lethal against the brute.

You're in prime position to cut Demesi off of Ganneda's back.

And judging from the position of that rod, a blast of electricity would probably prove to do some serious damage, if not lethal. At least I'm assuming his spinal column and brainstem still follow the route of a regular humanoid.

So, course of action: Cut Demesi down, use LOIHGTNIN' to take Ganneda out of commission, hopefully permanently.
