To find out if it's old, obviously. Like you just said.

As an alien, you have a very good sense of taste and can discern many useful facts from licking things. There is also precedent in /quest/ for characters to have some kind of tongue-related super power, so you were just testing that out as well.

Next roll it in glowy moss to make it also glowy, and proceed to the next chamber. If you feel you can manage it, dunk your head under the water to examine the underwater area for any lost equipment, vials, chains, etc.

Is the tunnel too sheer to climb? Any hanging vegetation? Loose places you could bash your bone against to break up soil and give you handholds? Give it a shot, at least.

Cup your hands around your mouth and shout "Hello? Hello? Help me!" up the opening.

If none of that has any useful result, look around for useful things and exits. Are those mushrooms good for anything?

I think I saw something like that in a children book once... they're called the Bozoks. The book said they lived on Gava centuries ago, and then mysteriously vanished one day.

Sul: Is there anything interesting here?

Ny: Well you could always go an see the wreck that is the tunnel. Or you could go to the abandoned mineshaft... Or you could go to visit the Kengas.

Sul: So are there any ways out of here?

Ny: Kengas have a small vessel that sails through, what they call, the Great Sea. Meself? I'm a swimmin' expert and I know a lot of underwater passages.

Sul: Underwater passages?

Ny: Ah yep. All of these lakes are connected with a web of tunnels. Without a navigator, you're likely to get lost. But I have a map of them in my head!

Sul: The Kengas were rather unfriendly. Are the Sillas any better and can we meet them?

Ny: Kengas are very friendly! They're a bit nervous now, since few of them caught some sort of a disease. And they don't have a doctor 'round. Sillas are friendly as well, but I'm afraid we're cut off from them now since the Worm Tunnel has collapsed.

And if you ask me... this whole Feud is a bit silly. I doubt this could be classified as anything more than mutual vandalism these days.

Sul: What seems to be the problem?

Croix: One of my colleagues have been struck down with a disease. It seems infectious and we've taken great measures to quarantine the rest of our staff.

Our doctor is away. He wanted to get more medical supplies from our base. I don't know how long he'll be away since Chad was our communications expert.

He has a fever and after a while he started getting blotches all over his body. He lost conciousness a while ago but sometimes he hallucinates. We already wasted 2 of our last sedative shots to calm him down, we don't have any more.

We have a small lab in research section you might want to use. There's a small chemical/medicine storage next to this room. But we don't have a lot.

Widespread epidemic. Basically... it gave people high fever, skin patches, blisters, mortality rate was pretty high until they started using specialized antibiotics to cure people. Shik is still digging... I think. He needs to get his uniform back too.

Well, Shik sans pants is nice and controllable. He's not going anywhere unless we help him, so that isn't a priority. Similarly, Ny isn't going anywhere for a day or two, so we needn't do anything about him except keep him in mind. If we have any excess inventory, I suppose we could always pop back and visit that trader, see if he has anything we could use.

What are we carrying at the minute?

Propanone, Ethanol(the Et had me confused until I learnt it was shorthand for the ethyl group.) and something I don't recognise. It's not chloroform as that is CHCl3, and it's not methyl or dimethyl chloride. I'll ask my chemistry teacher on monday maybe, (although it'll be a bit late by then.)

The only uses I see for this stuff is using the propanone to clean the glassware of possible contaminants and some ethanol to extract whatever from the plant and some to disinfect your hands and clothes and stuff, otherwise this stuff is only useful as PHAT LOOT, to be traded at a later date.
Also regarding the alchohol you extracted from the plant, which alchohol is it? ie methanol, ethanol, propanol, butanol etc?

Well seeing they have chloroform it kind of changes everything. Although chloroform will extract a bit less of the antibiotic it will also evaporate quickly, saving me a lot of time.

I will have to use a lot more of it though.

Acetone is essential to clean the glass between the procedures. The rest, well I explained it already.

Judging from the smell of the plant juice it's mainly ethanol.

They're standard chemical bottles. Meaning yeah - they're designed to hold a lot of liquid, be heavy and durable and sit on the shelf all the time. Since my backpack is overloaded, I can easily carry two in my hands

And the samplers are jars rather than bottles. I don't really think they would hold that much of a volume.
