>You got drunk!

I did?? Oh damn it! Not again!

>You're in Corvo's house

I am?? How did THAT happen?

>You got wasted after eating, became best friends with Sammy, got free drinks from people, announced you were going to take off your top to stay cool (but you didnt follow through), found Corvo and called him your dad accidentally making him think you were one of his bastard children, showed him the letter which cleared up the confusion, hugged him, threw up on his back, and finally passed out.

...Oh. At least it wasn't as bad as the Sumpter Festival...

>Get some water

Water sounds good right now.

Suddenly, speaking of... A Kin who I assume is Corvo, enters the room with a glass of water!

Corvo: "Morning, sleeping drunky! I'll bet water sounds good right now, huh?"

He hands me the glass, which I accept, and drink.

Corvo: "I don't know how much you remember of last night because you were pretty wasted, so I'll just start over. Hi! I'm Calvin Corvo! Your dad sent you to find me! You found me! You're Maya! You're really bad with alcohol!"

>To be fair, we did warned you to go easy with the drinks, but apparently you can't hold your alcohol AT ALL. So you are banned from drinking from now on.

BANNED? I- Yeah, I guess maybe that's a good idea...

Corvo: "So, uh... The letter from your dad said he wanted me to look after you, but honestly I'm not really sure what that entails! Like, you're not a little kid or anything, so you don't really need me for much. You can stay here for awhile I guess! I don't really wanna piss your old man off..."

Corvo starts, realizing something.

Corvo: "Oh! And uh, just so you know... we did NOT have sex! Just to uh... Just to clarify that!"

Well that's good. I guess this is Corvo! He's not really what I expected. Where's his big pointy hat? And long silver beard? He's some young beach bum! Huh... Well, I guess this is a good opportunity to bring up any topics we wanted to know about...

A: "How do you know my father?"

B: "How old are you?"

C: Ask about Runes

D: Ask about head voices

E: Custom topic! (Please specify)

A. To break the ice.

And then, you would explain that you need to be taught magic. Right now you can do basic fire and wind, but that is what got you into this mess to begin with.
You also need a bit of help on how to live as a non noble because that shit will be hard for you. I can already tell. So yeah, basic skills to be a responsible adult.

>Why is he single and living along

Maya: "Why are you single, and living alone?"

Corvo: "...That's... An odd question. Uhh.. I dunno, I don't really wanna settle down with one chick, y'know? I'm more of a free spirit."

Maya: "How do you know my father?"

Corvo: "Oh, your dad? I know him from a long time ago. Before I left the Moralot Kingdom, I was drafted because of my magic skills. I was really young then, so he kind of watched out for me, I guess. Haven't seen him for ages though. Crazy he has kids as old as you now."

>Need to be taught magic

Maya: "So... Do you think you could teach me magic? I can do basic fire and wind right now, but messing up with that is what got me here in the first place."

Corvo: "Magic? Uhh... That sounds like a pain. I mean, I guess I could. But unless you're some kind of crazy prodigy who learns super fast, it's gonna take forever."

>Need to be taught to be responsible

Maya: "Could you... maybe teach me to be a responsible adult, too?"

Corvo: "Haha! You are asking the WRONG guy, Maya! Hahaha!"

>Where was he, any good ideas to make some cash?

Maya: "I came here yesterday and couldn't find you. Where were you? And... Any good ideas to make some cash?"

Corvo: "Well I was out patrolling! Pirates keep attacking ships around the other islands! Like hell I'm gonna let 'em wreck mine! And cash? I guess you could get a job on the island. You said you knew basic magic? There might be some jobs specific to that you could find."

>Ask about runes

Maya: "I wanted to ask 'cause you're a magician... Have you noticed anything off about the Runes of Magic lately?"

Corvo: "You know about the Runes? Well that's surprising! No offense. I'm not primarily an Arcane mage, so I'd have to do a seance to find out if anything was up with them. Why do you ask, though? It's a bit strange for someone like you to even know about something like that! No offense."

I didn't know the runes weren't super common knowledge! What do I tell him? Should I just say I have a bad feeling about the runes? Or should I tell him about you guys, and the whole champion thing.

A: Tell him about voices and champion status.

B: Tell him runes feel 'off' without giving a reason.

C: Custom Input.

You know what, A. The worst thing that could happen is that he doesn't believe you and we have to show him otherwise. Somehow. Wait, if tou tell him what's up with the Runes and then he does the seance and confirms it, it should be enough to convince him.
No. 1034319 ID: 629f2e

A, worst case scenario he thinks you're crazy, which is fine. Best case scenario he can actually twll you something about us, like some old legends that bring up ethereal voices.

>known father from a long time ago
Doesn’t that mean that he should be close to your father’s age? If he knows your dad from that long ago, then ask him how he looks so young?

>teach magic
>But unless you're some kind of crazy prodigy who learns super fast, it's gonna take forever.
Considering how you got fire magic from just touching a fire magic book earlier, I’m pretty sure you’ll be able to acquire new types of magic very easily.

But learning magic isn’t your problem. Learning to control it so it doesn’t get out of control is what you need.

>What do I tell him?
A. Tell him the truth.

Also mention that you haven’t told anyone else, not even your family, because they’ll think you’re crazy.

if you rationalize us as a form of magic that IS beaming into your head somehow, which we ARE, it sounds plausible. We just don't know what school we fall under.

Maybe ask if there's a psychic school or a weird niche use of the elements that allows for a non-corporal forms of consciousness to continuously assault an individual with terrible advice

We almost certainly fall under Arcane, it looks like it concerns itself with weird metaphysical or conventionally impossible shit. Maybe Life is possible too, or a combination of the two.

Having a better idea of what each element can actually do would probably be helpful. Is magic of the classical elements of fire, earth, water, and air just manipulation/creation of matter and physical phenomena related to those elements, or can magic of these elements also accomplish more abstract or "mystical" things? All of these plus Life have a clear natural manifestation, but what's the natural materia of the Arcane element? It seems like the odd duck out, and based on what your sister was able to do with it and how she talked about it, by far the most complex and esoteric of the elements. Corvo also implied that the Runes were mainly a subject falling under the domain of Arcane. He really doesn't seem to be an expert on it and out of touch with high civilisation to boot, so telling him about us right away will probably be a waste of time and just make Maya look crazy; it'll be better to try and gain his confidence first. She can get away with saying that she heard about the Runes from someone else. Like, say, her sister Maggie, the Arcane practitioner.

Maybe I could ask Corvo to go more in depth?

>How does he look so young?

Maya: "Shouldn't you like... be my father's age? Why do you look so young?"

Corvo: "Haha! Cause I AM young! Young, and super cool. I knew your dad when I was a little kid! He looked out for me so I kind of sort of owe him, I guess. Nice of him to send me his hot dau- his daughter after not communicating with me for years! A letter now and then would have been nice."

>Sort of AM a prodigy

Maya: "I sort of AM a crazy prodigy. Or I am NOW at least..."

Corvo: "What's that mean? You don't really seem like a natural to me. No offense."

>Tell him about crazy voices and champion status.

I tell Corvo about when you guys appeared in the Edge Mountains. How you spoke to me and told me about the Runes, and my status as a chosen champion. I talk for a little too long, and a little too quickly. It's nice to finally get it off my chest to someone! He patiently listens, nodding here and there as I ramble.

Corvo: "So basically..."

Corvo: "You're nuts!"

Corvo: "I mean, this sounds more like an Arcane thing to me, so I'm not an expert, but I've never heard of anything like that happening like... Ever. Spirits exist, and a seance allows us to speak to them and find out information on the nature of the world. But you can only do that through a SEANCE. I've never heard of someone just... having the spirits in their head! That's usually just a sign that you've lost it! As for the runes falling... Nothing like that's ever happened either! The runes control the entire... like... world! If they fell, haha we'd all be TOTALLY screwed!"

Oh this is just great! I'm not a champion at all! I'm just a crazy girl with voices in her head! AGH! What am I supposed to do now!

Corvo: "I mean, have you ever tried to prove they aren't just voices in your head? How do you know it's not just... you being crazy?"

A way to prove you guys are real to Corvo? ...And to myself.

A: Hold a seance and commune with the spirits!

B: Something quicker to prove it? (Provide idea to prove it)

C: Custom input.

B. Perhaps ask us to perform some mental feat that we can do that you can confirm that she has absolutely no way of doing without our help? Such as recite pi (the mathematical constant that is the ratio of a circle's circumference to it's diameter) to thirty digits?

No. 1034381 ID: 9748c8

B. Ask him to put a hand behind his back and show a random number of fingers with it. In theory, we should be able to see and correctly guess how many fingers he's holding up... like how we were able to see that first spider, altho it depends on the camera position haha

lets do something similar. Tell him that you are going to turn around so you can't see him, and you want him to do something, anything behind your back, something unexpected. Let him know that we (the spirits) will be able to see what he will do while you cannot, and we'll let you know about what he does, and then you can inform him what he did without you looking behind you.

I like the idea, but there is a chance we won't be able to see it depending on the art for the update.

This is a better guarantee.
No. 1034391 ID: dee951

Our visual perception is unreliable. While we CAN perceive visual events that Maya can not, we cannot RELIABLY determine, ahead of time, the precise limits of the perception. You would have to set up the test such that no matter what non-Maya perspective we have, we will be able to see at LEAST one thing she can not. Doable, but tricky, and you'd have to be clever and scientific about it. Perhaps placing several items in a room or several placards with different text drawings on them or something.

The math thing would be more reliable, since it doesn't require particular perception.
No. 1034396 ID: 0d0d78

Would it suffice to report verbatim what was said and occurred when they met while drunk? Maya has little recollection, and it would be pretty weird to have a perfect memory for that given how drunk she was.

Or... and this is a pretty basic one: wouldn’t suddenly being able to use fire magic and hearing voices out of nowhere in itself be a pretty solid sign that something’s off with the Runes of Magic?

Because you totes weren’t crazy before and you can do fire wind stuff now when you’d never even tried before. It’s not like magic is supposed to be that easy to learn, right?

Maybe it’s easier because the Runes are closer now or something, what with having fallen from the heavens.
No. 1034397 ID: bb78f2

We have your memories from last night in perfect detail, if that's fair
I don't know if I can patch you into the feed, and we have to wait for images and dialog come to us all at once, so we can't reply to Corvo in real time, and technically all the boring stuff is skipped over, ergo, if you're not awake and only boring stuff is happening like the boat trip or bank accounting, we don't get it

Other than that, yeah he is just leaning against the doorframe, looking at his nails.

No. 1034409 ID: bb78f2

I want to clarify to Maya we only get one or images at a time and that we aren't getting a live performance so there will be some delay and some detail will be missed.

It appears he is leaning on the door frame, blowing or checking out his nails or rubbing his chest, hard to tell from this angle.
No. 1034410 ID: dee951

I don't... THINK he's checking her ass. If he is, he's angling the face the wrong way and moving his eyes in a way we can't see, hidden behind the glasses. I mean, if he doesn't think we're the real deal, than why bother being subtle about it? He could be glancing openly. I'm more leaning towards giving him the benefit of the doubt, I think he's actually looking at his nails like he seems to be.

Granted, spirit instability being a thing is a total guess on my end and definitely not why the lot of us hid inside Maya's generous boso... body, and on occasion act somewhat irrationally.

Too difficult to say on the ass, really. I am starting to think he's wearing those... sunglasses? - so no-one can follow his gaze. But yes, he's leaning slightly forwards, looking with apparent interest at you as he smiles, forming a V symbol with each hand using his index and middle fingers.

As long as we're doing finger symbology, if you are peeved with him for not believing in you at all, you can raise your hand into a fist and then present the back of your hand and a fully raised middle finger, and gesture them in his general direction.

On both hands, maybe, if you're really annoyed.

By the way, tell him the spirits expect this game of charades to be over soon. There's a world to - apparently excruciatingly slowly - save!

That is... we could keep going all day - we're easily amused - but you probably want some breakfast and a chance to nurse that hangover, don't you? And I do wonder if he'll actually run out of skepticism for the Runes of Magic having plopped out of the sky.

>4 fingers, 2 on each hand

Maya: "Four fingers! Two on each hand! ...And are you staring at my butt?"

Corvo: "Wow! You really CAN hear the spirits! That's crazy! And yes, I am!"

Maya: "So now that you finally believe me, what do we do now, magic expert?"

Corvo: "Well, I uh... I dunno! I'm kind of retired! But... I guess it wouldn't be very magician-y of me to ignore the end of the world, would it? You said you wanted me to teach you stuff... You also wanna earn money. What would you wanna concentrate on first? I'll try to help you with that."

A: General magic skills! (Gain a bit of knowledge and ability in all affinities of magic.)

B: Specific magic skill! (Gain a lot of knowledge and ability in ONE affinity! Please specify which one!)

C: Earn some money! (Maya will work with Corvo, and gain some moolah!)

Thanks to the gold you were given money isn't an immediate issue - but your control over magic is, given what happened.

Hm. You need grounding in all the elements if you ask me. You're gonna have to deal with them all in some way or at some point, anyhow.

Healing. Gotta get good enough to heal our bro.

A, or B (the magic he's proficient in). It seems a bit unusual that he'd be able to teach you any magic, even the one he doesn't have affinity for.

Id say we work with earth. Considering where we are, im guessing the majority of magic we will be up against while trying to find the rune will be water based, so we should focus on countering that.

A! General magic skills, you can do lots of creative stuff with mixing elements, se have loooots of ideas for that which will give you wayyy more power than you might otherwise have. Like combining fire and earth for volcano or superheated mud magic, or fire and water for steam magic, or water and life for healing mists, and as soon as we can figure out what Arcane can do... oh! Is water just specifically water, or is it all liquids? How about the elements that make up water in liquid form, could you summon liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen (both would have to be SO COLD that to touch it would be to immediately kill the limb that touches it, they also blow up really well...)! Oh! Could you combine earth and water magic to make stable metallic hydrogen? GOD, we have soooo many ideas for blowing stuff up! Does arcane or life magic influence light? We can teach you to make a laser!

Does life and water magic allow you to make liquids found in nature? Because oh god, I have SOO MANY ideas if that's the case!

Let's start with A, we can focus on the money later.

B) Concentrate on Fire. Be a pyromancer. You have a powerful technique, the Flamethrower - now you just need to learn how to suppress it when it runs rampant.

Also, we'd like to discuss the effects of nuclear force and how it might be accessed as a special component of magic.

A. You're a multimage, make the most of it.

>General magic skills

Okay! Will do! I decide to go with upping my general magic skills and knowledge. Probably a good idea, considering my entire goal seems to be concerning magic!

Corvo: "Good choice! In that case, I'll start at the basics, and teach you all the fundamentals of magic! By the end of it, you'll be able to use basic abilities in each affinity. Assuming you're a fast learner, like you said. You don't really seem like it. No offense."
