Another chapter in our wholesome slice-of-life for the Yamelle-Damas.

What Happens? It’s The Sims! But with chupians. No plot, just living it. You’re all probably here for some lore! A very simple family quest.
NSFW for bathhouse nudity and potential lewds.

We return to the village of Du-Gar; a warm alp on the eve of summer! You can find anything you need within walking distance. All hardworking men and women freshen up for the day at Dama’s Bathhouse before opening their--

“Sashi! Leave some yam milk for your brothers!”

Uhm--a-hem before opening their--

“You better not be taking up all the hot water, Deemus!”

“We got, like, 5 boilers dude!”

Where--

“Has anyone seen my pants?”

“Nummax, you are NOT wearing that at the temple! Get out of those!”

“MOOOM! Del just spat at me!! Gross!”

“No I didn’t!”

Wh--

“Vikta! Get out of bed this instant! We’re leaving in ten minutes!”

Oh, forget it!!

There’s no solace in this house once the Yamelle-Damas are awake!! Ma opens the bedroom curtains to let the light beam on her second-youngest (aged 6). The wrinkly one grumblesighs like his father.

Vikta: Why do we gotta go to the dumb temple anyway? It’s the middle of the week!

Yamelle: I better not hear that kinda talk when we’re over there! You’re paying your respects to your pantheon!

Yamelle: Out of bed, now! Git! Git! Git!

Vikta: I am! I am!

Having three children was a juggling act, but four is really pushing it! Mama Yamelle huffs and returns to the kitchen where Sashi (9), Deemus (or “Del”, 8), and Nummax (4) make a ruckus at the table.

Sashi: Ugh, swineberry crunch? There’s never anything new around hereeee.

Yamelle: Huff... well go eat the rest of those brittle chips in the pantry.

Sashi: Mooooom I hate brittle chips!

Yamelle: I thought you liked brittle chips!

Sashi: Mom! You always do that! I stopped eating them when I was, like, four!

Del: Yeah, and Nummax licks every chip and puts them back.

Nummax: No I don’t!

Del: Yuh-huh. I saw you lick all the powder off of each and every one and put them back.

Nummax: NO I DON’T STOP LYIIIING!

The furless youngster groggily steps into the dining room.

Sashi: Well look who finally showed up.

Del: Taking a break from your cave dwelling?

Vikta: Screw this. I’m going back to my room.

Yamelle: Vikta! You’re not wearing a tank top to pray! You’ll freeze and have to hug your brothers again!

Vikta: But all my robes are in the laundry.

Yamelle: Now!

Dama is below with the customers, likely behind the register at the bottom of the stairs. Yamelle is at her limit as problems don’t solve themselves. She used to be so good to keep them all in line. In any case, which task is imperative?
>a. Finish making breakfast
>b. Separate Del and Nummax
>c. Dress Vikta properly
>d. Threaten to ground someone if they don’t behave
>e. Put the fear of Dama in all of them

Glad to know upsettingly-named cereal is a universal standard.

Honestly? Combination of A, B, C, and E:

Tell the boys to sit on opposite ends of the table and have Vikta go get dressed while you finish cooking breakfast, or so help you, you'll get Dama up here to deal with them while you go mind the register.

>>1131784

Yeah, for real, though I fear that Vikta would spend all his time in front of the thing, and then we'd have to hear it from the others and the inevitable, "mom said it's MY turn on the gamestation!" turning into a whole ordeal.

A and E.
A mother ranting as she cooks is the prelude to a symphony of trouble for kids. With her clattering pots louder as percussion instruments warning them of a crescendo.

Its a bit passive aggressive but its also a little performative gives kids a chance to not be the one still misbehaving when the prelude ends

Plus its fun to bang pots and pans in frustration

I was not aware of an episode 2. Sensational!

I don't know what to vote for, but as a mother Yamelle is capable of multitasking.

A combination of some votes can probably be done. Depending on which child is a shut-in, grounding would not be as effective on them as the others, though you should really finish cooking.

If the eldest is somewhat responsible and currently not the one that's underdressed, you can ask them to help dress their siblings properly, else threaten dad on them.

Yamelle huffs and tries to ignore all the current noise. Perhaps they’ll calm down once they have something in their bellies. She mixes the boiling pot of water-oats and adds some sinnaprika zest.

Del: Hey mom, can I hang out with Januk today?

Yamelle: hrmm We’ll see after the sermon. Okay? Mommy’s a bit focused now.

Sashi: Heeey, who put their hair in my bowl?

Vikta: Don’t look at me.

Oough. Ma stirs faster. There’s no time for laundry so there’s only one surefire solution.

Yamelle: Deemus, let your brother borrow one of your robes.

Del: Sure, he can just go basket-diving in my dirty laundry.

Yamelle: No--have him pick one of the clean ones.

Del: Don’t matter. I fart on every one of them.

Nummax: PPTHTHPTH!

Vikta returns with a new robe in time for breakfast to be splattered in their bowls.

Nummax: I’d rather eat a bowl of moosecorn.

>There will be groundings for everyone if [they don’t] start acting civilized.
Yamelle: If even ONE of you rascals doesn’t cease your misbehaving, ESPECIALLY at church, then I’ll have you all empty the fur traps in the bathhouse for a week!

A chorus of ‘eeew’ harmonizes on this floor.

Yamelle: Eat! We’re already going to be five minutes late at this point.

The children comply.

Water-oats are, at least, tolerable despite blandness. Several minutes pass as there is finally some decent peace and quiet in the house. There can be a plethora of stuff the children can talk about while Yamelle cleans up the kitchen. Not limited to:
• Play a game at the table, like I Spy or something.
• Debate who is Ma/Da’s favorite child
• Plan fun things after the dumb sermon (together or separately)
• Something popular with their generation (those choomers don’t understand the hype)
• Prank someone without Ma looking:
→ like covertly fling some food at someone
→ yoink someone’s tail fur
→ or say “What’s that?” Then dump your food in someone’s bowl when they’re distracted
→ or something else guaranteed to be a barrel of laughs
• Mention the terrible strange things in the woods they cannot go into (probably to scare Nummax)
• Ask if Vikta is adopted (insist he is)
• Think about what you’ll do when you grow up
• Just talk about anything, really. I’m not a kid anymore; I don’t know what they do. Do kids even talk to each other anymore with their tiktoks in their faces? You know in my day--

Ask Ma if they can have (insert weird kids food) in their porridge / oatmeal next time.

Maltar: I say that wasn’t true! There’s a smaller shack further down the village that sells a variety of shovels. I didn’t buy my shovel there; but that’s beside the point!

Allow Yamelle to go clean Nummax up. Instruct Sashi to go get one of your clean robes to exchange for theirs. They can use a sash to make it shorter.

Del and Vikta are obviously full so no need for them to continue breakfast. They get to clean all the dishes up since they are so full of energy.

Don't forget to kiss your beutiful wife! Maybe do something like, help wrangle the kids while she handles you youngest one in her hands.

Hmmm. The 'pooter idea might have merit, but you'd need to be careful about it. Not too little time where they'd yell, not too much where they become onw of those reclusive children that does nothing but stay at home.

If- IF you and your wife (whom you should consult about this hypothetical idea) agrees to this, and if either of you have some wit for technology, you'll probably need to as a rule put a parental filter so they can't visit adult sites, and limit them to maybe half an hour ever orher day?

You could also use a computer to print out fliers for your buisness if you're ever doing anything special, though that might not be nessessary due to how small your home town is. With such a low population everyone practically knows each other.

Oh right, responsibility. If you can afford it and neither of you have the time, you might want to consider hiring a tutor in the future if any of your kids are bad at their school work, and is there something like a "Boys/Girls Scout" or scout master around? Some extra-curricular activities never hurt anyone.

>living in a society that has bathhouses as part of the culture, wouldn't [the Dama children] be used to naked people?
In a sense. No doubt the children have accidentally witnessed naked adult strangers when they weren’t supposed to among the bathhouse grounds; they’re generally prohibited from the downstairs baths. Otherwise they’d run around the pool yelling, splashing, and annoying customers.

>It’s dad time
>United front with your wife
>help wrangle the kids while she handles your youngest one in her hands.
Dama: What’s this commotion about‽

There ought to be a new punctuation between a period and an exclamation. His voice cuts through the mayhem; the children stop. With a harrumph Yamelle removes the bowl off Nummax’s head and carries him to the bathroom for a quick change during the intermissive stillness. It’s Dama’s turn to corral the kids. The oldest child dares to speak first, arms akimbo and a pompous flourish.

Sashi: Father! Look what they did to my dress--

Dama: Head to your room and change, Sashi.

He reaches the top of the stairs. She tries to steal some empowering energy. Sassy.

Sashi: You dunces are in big troub--

Dama: Now.

Sashi: eee!

She turns tail and skedaddles to her room.

He collects a few spilled bowls on the floor. The silence as he does is dreadful to the remaining two boys.

Del: Well I should comb my fur and get ready for--

Dama: Join me at the sink.

He ushers Deemus and Vikta to approach the sink pan in the kitchen. A stool is scooted on over for them to reach the deep end; the dishes clatter inside with the giant pot Ma cooked their breakfast in.

Dama: You can help your mother clean the dishes as she deals with your youngest.

Vikta: But my fingers get prune-y.

Dama: I didn’t ask for a doctor’s note.

Dama: Now scrub.

The boys mutter and jab words at each other, but their hands do the work. Dama dusts off the dinner table.

Dama: We’ll already be late arriving to the temple. You should be done in ten minutes. If not by then, you’ll be staying here to scrub the whole bathhouse.

The sounds of scrubbing get a little faster and louder.

Thankfully within the allotted time, the last dish is set upon a strainer (Dama double-checks the cleanliness of their efforts, not great not terrible). Yamelle returns with Sashi and Nummax, ready to leave.

In regards to weather, the walk to the temple is pleasant--although the kids don’t quite admire the beauty of the village as adults would. It’s a moderate day for the middle of the week; the town is active with plenty of residents shopping, walking, sweeping, working, playing instruments, and other light activities. Many recognizable faces bestow hellos to the Yamelle-Damas, there’s hardly a local who wouldn’t know the parents and their staple in Du-garan life.

Vikta: Ma, can I hang out at the market with my friends after church?

Yamelle: No dear. You boys will have daycare later.

Vikta: Whaaat? What’s wrong with staying home?

Yamelle: The babysitters aren’t available. And we’ll be too busy at work! We can’t leave you unattended.

Del: Hey wait. What about Sashi?

Sashi: I have a play to go to. I’m going to be in movies when I grow up!

Del: Like ‘background person #1’.

Dama: Be nice.

Del: Yes, father.

Well you all made it in the middle of one of the opening songs. It’s not too late to quietly pick your seat. The tardiness, however, gives you less-favorable places to sit towards the back--or at a weird angle.

A hymn as old as history, several choir singers chant as congregants join when they please. It is music the children would recognize by heart from lullabies. Other songs on the choir playlist involve throat-singing (which the crowd probably leaves to the professionals).

Zimir stands behind the lectern with his extra-blessed nuns flanking him. Before preaching and scripture reading, Head Preacher Zimir is obligated to inform the town of upcoming events and other special announcements.

A multitude of stuff can happen here, as the prompt is quite open-ended for contributions. And I aint thinking hard on this quest at the moment.
>Zimir needs the latest news to inform the villagers. What's the scuttlebutt?
>The children are sure to be bored, what do without getting into too much trouble?
>Do the adults speak up about anything, what such concerns for the town?

You mean like, stuff for Zimir to share? Well consider this is a semi-small settlement. Hmm.

1.) It's so and so's mothers birthday, so people are invited to celebrate an old lady getting older. There will be cake and wine.

2.) Someone has a leekying roof and could use some help patching it up. Any help would be appreciated.

3.) There is a religious celebration coming in a few days, so voluteers are welcome to help setvup decorations in this house of worship.

4.) A pet was lost in the woods. If someonw finds it please let the owner know about its last location, or if you can bring it back home.

5.) A cuddle escort had lost her purse somewhere in town. If you find it please return it to her.

The last song is sung, and the preacher flips through several printed pages. Seats have quietly been filled. The choir reduces their chiming to a hum as to not overshadow Zimir’s projected voice. As he speaks, his voice resonates through the spacious chapel.

Zimir: Thank you all for being here today; as do the sister goddesses smile upon you for your strong faith and communion. Every day brings something new and often spectacular to our humble village-in-the-highland gifted by our creators; from their hearts to ours.

Zimir: Thus begin the announcements--

Zimir: We’re nearing the birthday of one of our oldest residents! Boh Ky-Petri will turn 137 years next week! Join this coming day—of-rendil to celebrate and learn about her life story. Cake and wine will be provided.

Nummax: That’s old!

Yamelle: Yes it is! Can you imagine living that long, honey?

Nummax: You’re old, too!

Zimir: We’re 30 days from the Village Bamesiana, one of the four festivals in honor of Bames. Plenty of wine and spirits will be provided by Daringh’s for the 5th year in a row!

Zimir: The temple is looking for volunteers to help chaperone and set up the event. Please apply within the next tenday!

Dama: Hmm. I’m sure I’ll need to chaperone my drinking buddies. I should make a contribution as well.

Zimir: Children must be with a parent or guardian and may only stay in alcohol-free zones. We’re inviting a guest speaker to teach the days of yore! Mr. Lam-Mako is a descendant of a long line of menders and has made a career in studying the history of ancient practices.

The audience murmurs about what a mender could possibly be. All except maybe one in the crowd.

Zimir: For more information on future events please refer to our town’s bulletins.

He brings out the Good Book.

Zimir: Now, then.

Zimir: Children of Amama, I woke up in the morning of last day-of-kyne to a beautiful village with nary a cloud obfuscating the dawn sky. And I thought about how grateful I was to live in Du-Gar after fifteen long and peaceful years.

Zimir: And it was that particular morning which made me reflect on the journey I took when I began as a missionary: traveling town to town, city to city. It was here I felt this village could be the last bastion of a calm, simple living.

Zimir: There’s a yearning within each and every chupian being for good, simpler times--times before life outside our world made first contact.

Zimir: For I had returned from the enclave of Avyndim. Cities are unsurprisingly a different beast, especially when it’s a port for planet-hoppers, so I don’t blame the culture that manifests within their steel highlands. And we are thankful for the amount of innovation the galaxy brings to our blue marble. The gifts brought by innovation are a double-edged sword, however: The first who experience it define ingenuity--but the second define depravity.

Zimir: And it’s natural that such innovation bleeds into the outskirts; like a spill of yam milk it soaks into dirt. It reaches out further and further like a dark hand. Yet by the time it reaches a humble town like ours, it has been filtered like a spring. The time it took to reach us has excised the pollutants it carries.

Zimir: But when you rush its influence, driven by depravity and eager convenience, that’s when it threatens our livelihood.

Zimir: Yes, convenience! Towns are adopting an unnecessary convenience, let me coin that, unnecessary convenience that whittles away their traditional values! It is a dangerous cloud that slowly looms over the minds of simple folk.

Zimir: And convenience is an unsung whisper! And those whispers are tricky, devious--but they disguise themselves to sound pleasing and agreeable--

Zimir: And the reason these murmurs sound pleasing and agreeable is because they are a reflection of you! Engineered convenience being the worst of all! And the more you feed into convenience the more it learns about you. And the more you’ll succumb to its enticing counsel.

Zimir: Sound familiar? Of course, if you’ve been reading our Good Book! If we’re not careful, then we’re doomed to repeat Susurrations.

Zimir: We shall read a parable from the Dagan Hums--

Del: Wow. The Dagan Hums. Daring today, aren’t we?

Sashi: SH!

Zimir: --about an Amulet of Insinuation, in our chapter of Susurrations!

There’s a careful whispering behind the children; one of their bored friends pops his head over the pew.

Aytem: Psst. Hey. Hey Del.

Zimir: Please turn to your book and read along with me.

Aytem: So your mom and dad forced you to come to church too?

Del: Yeah. I’d rather scrub the bathhouse.

Vikta: And we have daycare later...

Zimir: Our story begins with Emperor Kamura-Freth, who conquered the Okharans and ruled the Kamuraad Lands...

Aytem: Come on, let’s go somewhere else. Me and Lam are gonna sneak away.

Del: Whoa, really?

Aytem: Yeah. You wanna come?

Zimir: Kamura-Freth ransacked the vaults of the Okharans and uprooted many treasures on his conquest. He desired a vessel which contained a nymph of Uaris...

Del: It’s better than this. C’mon, Vik.

Vikta: Deemus, nooo. We’ll get in trouble.

Del: Come oooooon.

Dama is sitting at the far end of the bench. Stoic, he either stares ahead or skims along in his book. Del seems set on sneaking off no matter the protest.
>Vikta sneaks away. She can't ground us all, right?

Del: You don’t wanna be a thin-haired woolsy do ya?

Vikta: I’m not thin-haired...

Vikta: ...or a woolsy.

Del: Just on my mark okay?

Vikta: Ugh. Fine.

Zimir: ...and the nymph of Uaris offered an earring for her release, a saturnaz charm that dangled on a strand of Uaris’ silvery-white fur. It was the Aie-Iae that, when worn, whispers in the wearer’s ear its best advice, always in the form of “Better for you if you...“.

Yamelle starts to (in her own words) rest her eyes for a minute. Dama was reading along at first, but starts to use the Dagan Hums as a platform to write notes on some scrap paper. Sashi reads just fine, she seems to like parables. Nummax is already napping.

Zimir: And the enchanted earring was always right. It may not solve the world’s miseries or make one the richest in all the land; but its advice is always better than what the wearer would come up with.

Del taps his middle-brother as a signal to scoot. Slowly, they slink off with Aytem.

Zimir: Emperor Kamura-Freth was eager, and promptly wore the earring and listened. The earring gave its guidance: “Better for you if you take me off.”

The boys footpad their way into a secluded chamber. They’re met by two other children. Same age between the Dama boys. All were acquainted from past play dates.

Lam: We were just playing Yrena’s Arrow.

>Temples love naked people art. Maybe there'll even be legends, hidden in the temple!
Enko: My mam says this temple is really really old. Like from ancient times where it was, uh, was only monks and uhm, yuh-nucks! There’s perb-ably a--uhm a secret room somewhere.

Vikta: We could try to reach the top to see the village. There’s some stairs tucked away somewhere... the one where a piece of rope blocks it.

Del: No piece of rope is gonna stop me.

Lam: But that means we’re not allowed there!

Enko: We can just take a peek! This could be our only chance. C’mon!

No nuns are patrolling the galleries. The troupe walks around the quiet halls as ambiance of preaching can be heard down yonder. Turning round another hall shows an ingress that indicates where modern additions to the building connect much older stonework from the far past. It’s there were some crevasses are roped off.

Not too far are the stone stairs that spiral up into the mysterious beyond. The rope fails to repel the curious chupian kiddos.

Aytem: So uh. Do you guys look at naked people all the time?

Vikta: Not a whole lot, I guess. Dad doesn’t let us in the main bathroom when adults are there.

Aytem: I see.

Aytem: And like, do you see their butts and stuff?

Vikta: Sometimes maybe. I dunno, we don’t think about it.

Aytem: I was jus’ wonderin’.

Aytem: Do you see your mom and dad naked?

Vikta: Uhm, when the house is closed to the public we swim or bathe together. Dad doesn’t want us in the sauna.

Aytem: I see.

Aytem: What’s a sar-na?

Del: SAUN-a. It’s like a bath but with steam. It gets really hot and you can pass out.

Aytem: I see...

Aytem: My mom and dad have their own private bath and I always take my bath there. But one time... when my mom was in the shower--

Lam: Why do boys always think about old people’s butts?

Enko: We don’t do that!

Aytem: Why are there statues here? How do they even get them up here?

Aytem looks underneath the blanket to peek at the statue.

Aytem: Whooooa...

Lam: Oh no, someone left their dolly!

She picks up the doll. It’s a crude depiction of a chupian with no eyes. Doesn’t seem manufactured, only knitted together by someone’s mother or grandmother. Its threads are quite frayed. Some straw pokes out of it.

Lam: I wonder who it belonged to. It’s probably a hundred years old!

Peering through the window the Dama boys spy upon a courtyard. There are patches of rock gardens, sensories and zen gardens. They have been through the courtyard once or twice before but gardens are boring. Who wants to look at clumped-up sand? Near the window is a writing desk; the ink has since dried up.

Their snouts press against the chilled glass.

Del: Whoa neat. You can see a lot up here.

Vikta: I wonder if a spy lived here. He could’ve learned secrets of the village or assassinated a high priest!

Del: There could even be a secret compartment in this desk! Come on!

He sifts through the antique drawers. Most of them empty save for dust. He scratches in search of a false bottom. He shakes the desk a lil. He gives up.
