Grace... Grace will be their name.

Grace will need a gift. Bestow one, that you deem befitting for them. Choose wisely. It will stay with them.

1 - Strength. Dominate the world with power, learn to channel force through your body. Empowers Endurance, Brutality, and Instinct.
2 - Sensitivity. Understand emotions and make connections with your peers that mean something. Intensifies Empathy, Suggestion, and Reflection.
3 - Intellect. Wield academia as your power, see the world around you with profound understanding. Enlightens Logic, Rhetoric, and Visualisation.
4 - Agility. Move through the world with grace, control your body with exceeding flow. Polishes Perception, Composure, and Dexterity.

Grace finds themselves in an elevator, lying on the floor. The rubber padding smells awful. Fluorescent lights buzz above them.

The elevator is moving upwards. The soft hum of motors fill their ears.
They don't know where they are. Guide them, why don't you?

Welcome to the world, Grace. May you bring salvation with your strength, your purity, and your kindness.

The first thing to do is check yourself. What are you wearing? Anything in your pockets?

Then examine your surroundings. Does the elevator have any features besdes the obvious? Any access panels? Is someone else in there with you?

Grace stood up and dug through their pockets.

In what little they wore - polo shirt, slacks, dress shoes - They found a crumpled up piece of paper and a handheld mirror. They store it back away into their pockets.

They approach what seems to be the remains of posters that were hung on the elevator walls.

1125092

There's 8 floors. There's no buttons on any, so they can't tell what floor they're going to. Neither is there any kind of floor indicator. Whoever designed this place did a poor job of considering people who would get trapped here.
>>
No. 1125093 ID: 847683

Theres a possibility the crumpled piece of paper was recently the poster torn ftom the wall before grace was fully here.
Either way, worth looking at it.
Uncrumple paper and examine.

Red symbols are drawn on it. The paper is glossy.
LOGIC (8 < 11: Failure) - They can't tell what the material of the symbols are drawn with.

The symbols on the paper evoke something. They tried to remember what they know before waking up...

The elevator has a panel showing 8 floors, but no buttons to select them and no lights to indicate them. Who designs an elevator like this? There must be someone controlling it from the outside, someone who is expecting you.

How long has it been since you woke up here? Can you guess how many floors you've passed already?

There are too many unknowns in this situation. You might need to use the ceiling hatch soon, but for now, hide in the corner by the door and prepare your mirror to look outside.

The elevator comes to a halt, the motors whining as they slowed movement. With a creak, the doors open, and Grace glances to the side.

A cold wind blows through into the cramped space, absolving it of its current smell and replacing it with a bitter scent. It's dark, but they can make out the details of some kind of interior from their quick look.

PERCEPTION (Challenging, Success: 9 + 8 + 1 > 15) - Grace angles the mirror to see what lies in front, but also what's behind by using it to reflect light into what the mirror sees.
PERCEPTION- Squinting into the mirror, they see that the interior resembles an office. The top part reveals, partially, a desk with something sticking out from behind it. The bottom shows a door, closed. Any details are hard to make out in the dim lighting.
INSTINCT (Medium, Success: 12 > 11) - Pull your hand back. If you were hoping to hide away from whatever is waiting out there, you just made yourself known with that mirror. Pull it back, and wait.
REFLECTION (Medium, Success: 11 = 11) - Or it could be just you here. If anyone was wanting to get the jump on you, now would have been the best time.
REFLECTION - But no one's here. So relax.

Grace walks out to the desk, head cautiously looking around.

File 177600025689.png - (40.41KB , 800x600 , 22 - desk.png )
1125178

In the dim lighting, they see a silhouette in a basket. All signs point to it being some sort of pen.
PERCEPTION (Medium, Failure: 8 < 11) - Grace touches the desk and understands that it's wooden. The dark is too obscuring for anything else.

No. 1125200 ID: 9bbb0e

File 177608324031.png - (36.04KB , 800x600 , 23 - lift.png )
1125258

Grace prepares to lift the desk.
BRUTALITY (Medium, Success: 12 > 11) - The desk is weighty, made of a heavy wood no doubt. Lifting it alone would be a mountainous task, much less figuring out how it would fit into the elevator. With this weight, it might be wider than the elevator entrance.
REFLECTION - You are strong, but know your limits. It must have slipped everyone's mind to warn you first of their choice. Understand what you can do, we will guide you.
Check difficulty will now be made known by its respective skill. Player action checks will be done with 2 6-sided die, added with their skill's modifier. Double 1s will always fail, while double 6s will always succeed.
BRUTALITY - Should you lift it, it will be an immense task. Better to map out the place first.(Godly: 16 vs Grace's: 12 + 2d6)

1125259

Retreating away from the desk, Grace turns around and begins running their hand along the wall, bumping into a single elevator button and-
Their hand dips. The surface is cold and metallic. Likely another elevator to pair with the one they came from.

1125260

They continue running their hand along the wall, meeting a 90 degree left turn, then a door, then another 90 degree left, followed by 3 doors in succession, another 90 degrees-

.. Their hand meets something smooth. It's cold like the first one, but the texture is different. It feels glassy.

1125263

Grace continues, only to realise the last 90 degree left turn ends up with them looking into the elevator's shine again. Now they vaguely know where things are.

VISUALISATION - They could make out a mental map of the room they're in... (Medium: 11 vs Grace's: 8 + 2d6)
PERCEPTION - It may be wiser to stack that with a scan of the room using the mirror as illumination.
>>

Sounds like a plan. First mirror to direct the light, plan a route mentally. Then we can estimate if the desk would even fit.
>>
No. 1125273 ID: fd169b

If there's a desk there's probably also a chair, easier to move into the elevator.

You should also try running your hands over the back of the desk to see if there are any drawers. if so, the mirror might be enough to illuminate their contents.
>>
No. 1125278 ID: 99a1a6

Depends if the chair has wheels. They would make it unsafe to stand on, especially if we are later on a hurry.
>>

>>1125263
Well, we can do that I suppose. What then? There's not much point in moving the desk into the elevator to stand on to reach the hatch, because the elevator is working.

We should just check the drawers of the desk instead.
Also call the other elevator so that it opens and sheds more light into the room.

We sense two elevators on one wall, a single door on the next, then three door opposite the elevators, and on the last wall... something covered in glass. A mirror? A portrait?

Use the mirror to help map out the room, and focus especially on that glass panel, and the doors in case they have markings that may reveal their contents.

There may come a time when you have nothing to rely on but your own mortal mind. But today, let the light guide you.
