You are Grem, weak Kobold. You want to become Grem, Mighty Wizard. How does Grem become Wizard? Grem not know. Even then, Grem will still reach for their dreams of wizards and ducks!

Grem is currently standing in Kobold den, right between the biting rock, the sleeping pile and the moss. There are many other Kobolds here. Outside Grem can hear mean Gnolls shout to other Kobolds. Mean Gnolls want Kobolds to gather shiny rock from other hole in big rock. Many kobolds never come back from hole. Dark hole very scary. Grem will be wizard so they can remove hole and Gnolls.

But how Grem become mighty wizard? Grem hear many stories about mighty wizards but never how to grow into one. But Grem not give up, Grem just need to find where to start looking for wizards.

Grem got great idea! Eat moss and drink moss water until Grem is biggest kobold! Than Grem can be moss king and make other kobold pay for moss! Grem so smart!

Sadly, moss warden is stronger kobold than Grem. Throw out Grem from den and revoke Grem’s moss privileges for two sunrises. No more moss for Grem. Grem sad.

And orb! Do not forget orb to ponder. Grem already have animal friend. Their name is Rock. They are Rock. Rock is Grem’s bestes friend in the whole world. Now, where will Grem find big stick staff, big hat and shiny orb?

Moss for eating, not talking. Talking to moss sound like Flower sniffer magic, not wizard magic. Grem still want to find place of power, but Grem not know where such a place would be?

Grem thinks about the world around him…

Up is the scary hole... and behind it, there are very tall mountains. Gnoll say troll lives up there.

Right of hole there is den… with also mountains behind it.

Left is Gnoll home. Grem not know what behind Gnoll home because Gnolls are mean.

Down is lake. They say there are big monster in lake so Grem never crossed it.

Down right there are deep woods… and behind woods there is swamp. Many kobold stories say a witch lives there. Very scary!

Down left is the not deep woods. Very nice place. Many berries and birds to eat. Also moss. But after woods there is human town. Human even meaner than Gnolls, poke Kobolds with sharp sticks until Kobolds sleeps forever. Very mean.

The best way for Grem to be wizard is to learn from wizard. Witch almost wizard, so Grem can learn from them too. Maybe Grem even is Witch? Who knows!

The deep woods are dark and scary, but there should be big sticks there… and maybe moss too?

Grem runs into the deep, dark woods, trying their best to go down on map. But Grem has to turn and climb and crawl and walk over logs and go through bushes and suddenly Grem not know which way is down no more.

Grem is horribly lost.

At least there is a lot of moss here. Grem eat moss until no more moss fits in Grem. Grem also save some moss for moss warden, to repay moss debt. Grem very happy.

Grem wonder why no other kobolds go here to eat moss?

Kobblav wishesie for one of these claws or teeths!”
GREM: ”…Moss friend want human teeth and gnoll claws?”
Kobblav: ”Their iron tools, foolsie Grem! The sticks with the sharpsie iron on one end, that the beastmen and manfools uses to bring down the woodsies for their nests and fires.” the creature mimics a chopping motion, ”Grem bring Kobblav an iron tool from either manfool or beastman, an old one, one well used that has killed many brethren and sisters, and Kobblav will reward Grem with Magic Staff, yes?”
GREM: ”Kobblav give big stick for metal tooth thingy?”
Kobblav: ”Yes, yes! Bring Kobblav metal claw of those that harm woodsie and Kobblav reward kobold.” Kobblav looks around, as if it’s trying to spot something hidden among the trees, ”Now, where did kobold saysie be going? Grem bid farewell to Kobblav and leave big scary forest, taking the path near the river that goes toward scary humans instead. Grem sings funny song as they prance away towards new adventure!

About halfway to human den Grem smell something good. Being sneaky Grem sneak through bushes and grass towards the smell and find… a small campfire right next to the lake.

There is three smoked fishies hanging from a wooden thing… and the fire is nothing but embers. Did someone leave fishies here for Grem to eat?

While Grem’s temple of moss is glorious, Grem need flesh or else Grem not grow big. That what Elder bold say. Also, one time Grem ate only moss for a full moon and Grem tummy hurt. Fish smell good, therefore Grem eat fishies.

At first the water is completely still… then suddenly something big emerges from it, making a great splash against the rocks nearby! It’s a merman!?

The merman drags some kind of shell across his head fin before striking a pose, flexing his muscles as if he knew he had an audience.

It isn’t until the merman flops up towards the fire that he notices Grem.

Merman: “Whoa there, little dude, there’s a little guy here!” he exclaims as he strikes another pose, “You didn’t touch my food, did you baby?”
GREM: ”Grem not lick fishes when Merman not looking, no.”
Merman: “That’s good, little guy! Daddy needs his protein for these bad boys!” the merman flexes, “Aw yeah!”
GREM: ”You are very big, yes.”
Merman: “Check out these pecks!” putting his arm in a circle over his tummy, he somehow manages to make his chest dance, “Oh! Ha! Yeah!”

But Grem eyes is drawn somewhere else. Right there, hanging from his neck, is a perfectly round orb… an orb so shiny that Grem can see Grem in it… and that Grem whispers… “Ponder me, Grem… Ponder me like one of your mossy kobolds~”

Merman: “Sorry little guy, have no time to chat! Got a date tonight!” the merman’s voice rips Grem away from his daydream, screaming and kicking, “Well, she said for me to get lost, but I’ll win her over, you’ll see.” and once again he flexes, “After all, who can say no to these things, right?”
GREM: ”Um… yeah?”
Merman: “Now run along, little lizard, I got protein to eat and a gal to impress!”

Off. Ah! These. Ngg! Badboys!” Grem hears him whisper something like ‘damn I’m handsome’ to himself under his breath.

The merman should know that if Grem is someone willing to mutually respect him, then Grem must be accepted as a dude. Merman: “Sorry, little lizard, I don’t date… um… little lizards.” he stops for a moment before adding, “No offence, I’m just into the big, underwater ladies.”

GREM: “Grem can make crown of flowers! Water lady never seen crown of flowers before!”
Merman: “Hmm, I don’t know about a crown, but something like flowers would work.” the merman rubs his chin, “It needs to be able to withstand being underwater though, so most flowers won’t work… but if you find anything pretty a lady would like I’m willing to trade.”

GREM: “OH! Maybe Grem make some bracers with feathers on them! Or a vest of moss! That would bring Merman muscles out!”
Merman: “…can you even make that?”
GREM: “Grem not know but Grem try!”
Merman: “Right…” he rubs the back of his head, “I mean, I can take a look at it, I guess?”

GREM: “How about cheese and wine?”
Merman: “I don’t know what this cheese thing is, but wine would work! Do you have any?”
GREM: “No.”
Merman: “…then come back when you find some?”


Grem now have many options. Grem just need to either find something pretty, some wine or something for big merman to wear! Then Grem get orb to ponder!

After saying goodbye to big merman, Grem continue their journey towards human town, but here Grem get even more options! Grem can either look in the woods near the village to find woodcutters, but Elder has warned Grem that there are many traps in there.
Or Grem can go to outskirts of the village! Humans leave many neat things there, including tools! Just be careful so they don’t see Grem or Grem in trouble!
Finally, Grem can go down to lake near village. There are many barrels and boxes down there, maybe there are fishies or tools there too? Most humans either in town or out on lake fishing at this time of day, so floating platforms of wood should be safe. Maybe?
