This could be a trap... but if so, then this guy's REALLY good at faking the stupid.

Guys like these don't really care for the lives of civilians, or else they'd put more stock into the consequences of their wars. He's not sadistic or anything, it's just that his beliefs focus more on the philosophy of war than the benefits (and problems) of peace.

He wants an honorable death? Untie him. You can take out the remaining bandits together or fight to the death fight here and now.

Tell him that his former comrades wronged you. Tell him that HE wronged you.

If he wants to find honour in death, he must first restore his honour in life by helping you avenge those they have slain. Demand that he swears that on the souls of his warrior ancestors. Only then untie him.

Free him. "well, are you going to let this old woman beat you to a warrior's death?"

We can use him to ambush the enemy. We have him wait in the woods, while we get a few of them at a time to chase us into the woods. rinse and repeat.

>Tell him that his former comrades wronged you. Tell him that HE wronged you.

>I'm here to avenge my family and village. But you would not kill an old lady like me, would you? You have honor those dogs never had. I will hunt them. But first, I will free you. IF you tell me who you have killed. Every last one of them.

>Guys like these don't really care for the lives of civilians, or else they'd put more stock into the consequences of their wars. He's not sadistic or anything, it's just that his beliefs focus more on the philosophy of war than the benefits (and problems) of peace.

I tell him to tell me how many people he has killed so far.

Uther: "No one. There hazn't been a vorthy fight since i got here. I refuzed to face people that do not fight back. Zere is no honor in that."

I tell him that even if that is true, he has anyway wronged me. That he, like the three other i killed before.

Uther: "Ze rapizt and his friendz? Zey got vat zey deserved, wraith. Zey enjoyed taking on vhoever iz not a true warrior."

I move out of my hiding spot, revealing myself.

Uther: "You are not a vraith..."

I tell him who i am and what his band of marauders did to my village.

Uther: "And you killed zree men by yourself."

I tell him i did. Cut their throat and let them bleed.

Uther: "You have fire and steel in you, babikka."

I tell him that you can give him a chance to get his warrior death, after all. If he promises to help me take revenge on the rest of the marauders.

Uther: "You vish to face them?"

I tell him that i will have my revenge or die trying

Uther: "Spoken like a true varrior. I pledge my shield to you, babikka. Cut my ropes and i'll cut your enemies down in exchange. I swear on my family name."

I cut his ropes, he quickly gets on his feet. I didn't realize it before, but this guy is a damn mountain.

Uther: "Feeling better already."

They are beyond honour, so expedience and effectiveness trump honour and valour here, but as we have recruited Uther to our cause (hopefully for his redemption or at least to give him vengeance on the swine who've tainted his honour) we would duly respect any information and ideas he can contribute to making sure to 1) survive long enough to kill them all, 2) kill them all, 3) if we can manage this to torture the particularly guilty to death... but that last one is strictly less important than the first two.
