It's dark, you don't know where you are, and you're surrounded by trees. You've been asleep. You don't know for how long.
But your awake now and you need to remember.

what can you do to defend yourself? anyways just be very still and see what the noise is. I would say clime a try first but that'll make noise and I'm not sure if you can clime fast enough to get up a tree if whatever is making the noise isn't nice.

Are you in any better of a position than Gwendolen? You're both effectively lost in the woods now.

...and it's pretty fortunate she lost her bow right on the edge of the woods like that. Just imagine, if it was caught by a branch further in, you might have never have known where she went!

You duck into the near by cluster of bushes, grabbing a fallen branch to use as an impromptu weapon on your way.

Your magical abilities you have aren't particularly useful for a fight. The most you can do is conjure light sources. Other then that, there's every child's innate magic. Yours is Whimsy, which gives you the ability to better fend off fear and inspire bravery in others.

Your inventory is rather small, since all you can do to carry things is shove them in your hat. Currently, you inventory has Gwen's Ribbon and an apple. You never go out without a snack.

The rustling grows closer, and all you can see through the bush is something black. You think it's moving closer to you.

hide!! running will make too much noise and inspire pursuit if it's a predator. if you can climb a tree, that would be ideal.
>>

is the tree sturdy enough to climb? try and get out of sight!!!!!

>all you can see through the bush is something black
Then make a light, silly!

It'll let you see, and give you a moment where whatever is coming is blinded.
>>
No. 593994 ID: a0eba6

if you make a light think it will chase after it if you sent it away from you? other then that I say get ready to swing that branch kid and then immediately run like hell while throwing as many lights as you can at whatever it is to confuse the hell out of it.
>>

Try to get behind something solid - like that tree there - and make a moving light to reveal and distract the creature.
>>
No. 594595 ID: 321d85

Climb tree if feasible, or just hide. FYI, depending on how accurately you can conjure it, a light can be very useful in a fight. If you conjure it immediately in front of their eyes, they can't see.

You spend a few moments concentrating on preparing to conjure light, and just before you're ready you see red eyes peering into the bushes.

Before what ever that is pursing you can act you jump out of bush, sending light out of the palm of your hand. You dash for the nearest tree.

You hear a howl as your light briefly blinds your target, as you heave yourself partially up to the lowest branch.

You scramble onto the branch and look down at the creature.

It looks like a wolf puppy. It looks much smaller then you. You could have sworn it was bigger when you first glanced at it while in the bush. Maybe you nervous and mistook the shape?

You feel guilty for hurting it.

Well, don't approach it while it's distressed. Wait for it to recover and react to you being on the branch. If you can climb down and approach then, maybe you can make it up to the poor fellow.

Hm.
I say scramble down there, but do it nonthreateningly and slowly.
keep your hands visible, keep your silhoutte tight and small. Be nonthreatening, etc etc etc
once you get close, see if it will let you take off its wrap.

"Are you okay?" You call out as the pup opens it eyes slowly and blinks a few times before it stares at you. It looks confused.

"Yes, I'm alright... My eyes hurt a little though." It calls back. It's one of those talking animals, that makes things a lot easier.

You're relieved. There was no way your light spell could have done any real damage to it's eyes. Your magic isn't that strong, but you were worried anyway.

"I'm coming down!"

You hop off the branch, it's not very high up but you scrap your hands a little when you lands.

You move closer to the pup cautiously. "What's your name?" You ask, staring at the ribbon around it's muzzle. It Feels important. You don't want to touch it.

The pup stays quiet for a second, sitting up before it answers you. "Fen. My name is Fen."

Y'know, every good witch needs a familiar. Witchlings are no exception. Plus, Fen's sense of smell might help you track your missing friend using that ribbon of hers'.

Ask why somebody tied his mouth shut.

The closer you get to Fen the more your attention is pulled to the ribbon. Maybe it's magic but you can't know for certain, all you know is that it was put there for a reason.

The pup tilts it's head, looking at you quizzically. You realise you've stood there staring without saying anything.

"Why is that ribbon around your mouth?"

It's ears perk up immediately. "A witch put there!" Fen wails and looks like it's about to cry. "I can't open my mouth to eat anymore! It's to tight, I was only able to loosen it enough to talk!"

It stands up and moves closer to you. "Can you help me? Please can you help me?"
>>
No. 595443 ID: 879a42

Still don't trust. Why would someone do that unless the thing was dangerous? Also if a witch put it there it might be a dangerous MAGICAL creature.

"I don't want to incur the wrath of the witch who put it there, but I'll gladly help you eat by slipping chunks of food into your mouth for you."
We'll have to hunt around some, but that wrap is ominous enough I don't want to chance it until we have some goodwill from the wolf.

The more you think about the wolf the more you don't trust it. Even if it wasn't dangerous or did something bad, the witch that did this wouldn't be happy with you. And you know what angry witches are like.

But it could help you, and you need all the help you can get.

"How about a trade then. If you help me find my friend, I'll try to get the ribbon off?"

The glamour breaks and Fen seemingly grows in size almost instantly.

This is easy, tell the beast you are the only one nearby with magic trainings that is willing to help, if witch put that there it may very well be enchanted. Either the beast agrees to your terms or starves make this point clear, may seem harsh but this will save your life. If you need to, cast whimsy but only if that means you don't make ANY sudden movements, good luck.

Fucking illusions. Anyway just back up, it can only use its claws, which aren't optimal for fighting. Something this aggesive is not likely to be a trustworthy ally, so just get out of there. BTW be prepared to scale that tree again.

"Did you really think anyone would be gullible enough to take a dog with it's mouth tied shut by a witch at face value? Come on man. Plus, it isn't as if what I am asking is even that big a deal. And puffing up like this is honestly reinforcing the notion I should just walk away and leave you here to be all big and scary and evil on your lonesome."

You want to glance behind yourself to make sure you'd have a clear getaway path if the situation worsens further, but you worry Fen would pounce you as soon as you'd break eye contact. You tense up, readying yourself to run.

You wish you hadn't wasted you light spell earlier. It'd be useful but you still need time to recharge.

"Well obviously you're willing to bargain if you haven't killed me yet!"

The wolf laughs, it echoes loudly through the tree.

"I'm serious!"

"You need someone else to take that off you, it's probably enchanted too! And I'm probably the only witch nearby that's willing-"

It leans it head down close to yours, a hot wave of dog breath stops you mid sentence.

"You think a mere enchantment could hold me? You insolent, naive child. Have you no idea what I am?"

It's breath makes you want to hurl.
>>
No. 609955 ID: 330ce5

Dumb enough to get bound in the first place. Also if an enchantment can't hold you, why do you need help getting the ribbon off? Also is Fen claiming to be more than just a giant talking dog, because then I would like to know what Fen is.
