over 300 years ago, the people of the Ronima Clan were cursed by a spiteful god to spend eternity at the bottom of a great valley, with no means to ever escape. But today, on the first day of the 300th year, a newly risen god turns his eyes upon them, with pity..

Later that same day..

Lord Radru - "The House of Radru should be the ones who get the honor of entering the Tower! Whom is more deserving and noble?!"

Lord Relvad - "I could give you one far more deserving an' noble character, but I feel like showin' me ass at the meetin' table would be rude!"

Lord Radru - "WHY YOU-"

Lord Arukus - "CALM DOWN, CALM DOWN! ENOUGH OF THIS!... Lord Korguma made it perfectly clear that only five men could enter the tower at a time, once every fifty years. It's obvious that the only way we're ever going to settle this is a vote."

[i]The arguing continues around the table on both subjects. Please choose four of the following houses to send forth one champion each into the Tower. Please choose one house to rule for the next fifty years as well.
House of Radru- Their people currently have no special abilities. Will improve armor if left to rule.
House of Relvad- Their people currently have no special abilities. Will improve weapons if left to rule.
House of Volu- Legend says that before being condemned to the valley, the Volu had magical abilities. Will improve magic if left to rule.
House of Ramm- Are naturally stronger than others. Will train stronger warriors if left to rule.
House of Tempo- Are naturally faster than others. Will train faster warriors if left to rule.
House of Onn- Their people currently have no special abilities. Will increase overall luck of people if left to rule.
House of Oskus- Are able to more quickly adapt to the use of tools and weapons. Will improve quality of tools if left to rule.
House of Arukus- Are naturally more intelligent than others. Will improve overall intelligence if left to rule.

Radru, Relvad, Onn, and Ramm to the tower with Volu left to rule.

3 of the entering teams have no special abilities and seeing as we have no idea what to expect might as well see what the dungeon will throw at us before we start trying to specialize (plus it might give the houses bonus... maybe). Ramm in there because he volunteer and have Volu rule because if we could get some proper mages in this town I have a feeling that would help alot.

So, if you guy have actually been self sufficient for 300 years, what's the problem with being stuck down here? I mean, sure, I guess, you can't travel, and there's no trade. But you're also immune to invasion.

>>588972
A sacrificial first generation? ...well, I suppose we are playing a roguelike, here. You learn by sending people to their deaths.

I think he nominated himself for the leadership position.

Anyway, only sending four is crippling the team before the game starts, since there are five allowed. I recommend Oskus, you never know when you need a rouge to figure out the drawbridge.
>>
No. 589011 ID: d0864b

Hm, I'd prefer if house Oskus or house Arukus were chosen as leader. The quality of your tools and how intelligent you are can really limit how far you can get with anything, so we might want to improve that first. Although I suppose magic would work too, so I could get behind a Volu ruler too.

I'm assuming the fifth champion comes from the ruling house?
Anyway, for the champions I nominate house Radru, house Tempo, house Onn and house Oskus (or Arkus, if Oskus is chosen as leader) That way there's a good mix of people with special abilities we're sure of and people with potential we can unlock.

I see no reason not to have our best foot forward.
Ramm, Tempo, Oskus, Arukus. I mean, in fifty years we'll have a completely new generation to tool around with. Why even bother sending in untalented people? "rumored" magical abilities are not guaranteed to help at all so don't bother sending in a champion from them this first time.

Let Volu rule, because confirmed magical abilities will be great to mess around with.

After a long discussion, the decisions are made. Five champions are chosen from five houses, with a house left to lead their people. In the end, the champions chosen were: Radru, Relvad, Ramm, Onn, and Oskus. These five brave people will venture forth into the tower, leaving Volu to rule for the next fifty years.
The five brave champions entered the massive, imposing door to the tower, all volunteers hoping for a better tomorrow. Five men stepped forward. None returned.

Korguma - "HHEEEELLLOOO AND WELCOME TO RONIMA TOWER!! YOU ARE THE FIRST, BRAVE AND LUCKY CHAMPIONS THAT GET TO TAKE ON MY TOWER! IT SEEMS YOU'VE BROUGHT... NOTHING. WOW THAT'S UH, THAT'S PRETTY CONFIDENT OF YOU NOT TO BRING A SWORD OR SOMETHING AT LEAST."

Champion Onn - "A sword? What's that?"

Korguma - "HAHAHA YOU'LL FIND OUT! WITHIN THIS TOWER ARE ELEVEN FLOORS OF PURE FUN! AND I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE THINKING? ONLY ELEVEN? ONLY ELEVEN MEASLY FLOORS TO FREEDOM? HOW GENEROUS, GREAT LORD KORGUMA! WELL YES! I AM! I BELEIVE YOU WILL BREEZE THROUGH THE FIRST FLOOR EASILY, BUT DON'T GET CONFIDENT! BECAUSE THE OTHER TEN WILL BE MUCH MORE DIFFICULT! AND THEMED TOO! I'M SO EXCITED! BUT FOR NOW, BEFORE ALL THAT TOWER STORMING, WHY NOT TAKE A SEAT? RELAX BY THE FIREPLACE BEFORE GOING UP THAT STAIRCASE TO THE REAL TOWER? JUST CHILL OUT FOR AWHILE. THE SEATS ARE LEATHER BY THE WAY, QUALITY STUFF."

I am Lord Ramm. Previous King of our great people. I've decided to volunteer for this contest once our house had been chosen. It is my responsibility to lead these four... 'men' to victory. As far as I can tell, there's little in this room aside from the staircase before us, and the seats and fireplace. What should be my first command to my men.

Examine fireplace for tools to use as improvised weapons. Fireplace pokers are something, at least. Failing that, firewood or parts of the chairs might do as clubs.

RIGHT! No TIME FOR SITTING ABOUT LIKE NINNIES!

>The weapon depicted on the Relvad flag.

It's quite rare that our people will have understanding of weapons and arms anymore, sadly. Being TRAPPED in this PIT has SADLY kept us away from most threats, and we've lived -bleh- PEACEFULLY.

>Have someone less valuable go in front of you, and just march right up the stairs.

AYE!

Lord Ramm - "Champion of Onns! Head upstairs and make sure it's safe! We'll be right behind you!"

Onn - "I have a name sir.."

Lord Ramm - "UPSTAIRS, THEN I WILL CARE ABOUT YOUR NAME!"

Onn - "Yes sir!"

Without another word, he rushes upstairs, us following behind.

A audible click is heard, as he steps down on one of the steps.

New rule: when sending one person to check for traps, make sure the others are well out of the way.

Look pieces of broken chairs. Might be useful as clubs versus monsters, or wedges to jam doors or traps. If you live that long.

Send Oskus up to try the stairs now, I suppose. If he makes it, follow.

Not much to get here, but we pick up any solid wood we can find.

>Send Oskus up to try the stairs now, I suppose. If he makes it, follow.

Aye.

He heads upstairs, and then shortly thereafter comes back down.

Oskus - "It's totally empty up there! There's literally just a spot for the boulder and the rest of it is just a big slanted room!! We're trapped!!!"

HMMMM. It seems the staircase doesn't lead anywhere.. I suppose we'll just starve here then. Unless, you can think of a way out.

We've reached the second floor. One one side of the room, sits a staircase leading to the next floor, but it is covered in nails, making in impassable.. Next to me is.. a.. odd.. sculpture.. of a bartender. Before I even begin to think of what to do, I hear a familiar voice echo in the room.

Korguma - "HAVE A DRINK, CHUM!"

The sculpture's glassy eyes stare lifelessly forward. I'm not sure what to do.
