Nothing's ready! The tree's not decorated! The solstice is nearly here!

Oh god

How is it normally decorated? Glowing balls of magic and shit? Put glowing balls of magic everywhere. Or make giant fireflies.

Solstice minions...

Let's see. Well, right now I have one Kiri Palai Aves.

"Please don't talk directly to them, Diyil. It just encourages them."

"Encourages them to what?"

And one Captain Preparation.

He's still a little grumpy.

So. I don't really have a PLAN, per se. Technically this is a celebration of Ahura, the Unconquered Sun, as he defeats the forces of darkness and returns light to the land. A bit more ACCURATELY, it's the point in the synodic period where the planet's axis is maximally tilted away from our star. I mean, I've met some of those forces of darkness and none of them are able to stop a planet in its tracks, or extinguish a star. Now, SYMBOLICALLY, there's this whole, "tied to the land, season of earth's sleep approaches" thing and a ritual with some fire and blood and a sickle and evergreen. Geomancy and the whole Fisher King thing is kind of a pain in the ass. On the other hand, the other solstice is worth the wait.

I suppose I have about a million talents of those lying around, yes.

That's good.

Because what I was planning on decorating...
No. 553133 ID: 5bc031
File 138774506981.jpg - (29.08KB , 500x500 , ahs8.jpg )

...is this.

Do I get to work on those fireflies, or make those giant mana lights, or go find some magic source to actually pay for all of this?

I've never done the firefly thing before. Could be fun.

I'll go get my festive hat.
No. 553134 ID: b8ceae

This is BEFORE your mana crystals were all stolen and screwed up, right? Or after they were fixed?

Nevermind. Fireflies are cheap, and you can change some leaves to red to get the holiday theme going.
No. 553136 ID: 4a20fa

Make Captain Preparation less grumpy by festooning him with sparkles and tinsel.

Send Mongbat out to find where all the snow's gone. There's supposed to be snow. Or at least rain.
No. 553153 ID: ba8629

Definitely decorate Captain Preparation. That guy looks grouchy and needs some festive cheer!

No. 553162 ID: ba8629

Give Diyil some fingers or bonus arms or tentacles or a harness made of vines so she can hang decorations all willy nilly.

And build a big bonfire somewhere. Those are always festive.

"Stop being so grumpy. Most tribesmen would love being buried in solid gold like that."

"It's heavy."

"It's gold. Of course it's heavy."

Well, Diyil is having fun with her new appendages. I'll send her out to do some weather-scouting soon.

Meanwhile I'll work on these fireflies.

You said something about a bonfire, right?

No. 553177 ID: 7bbaae

FIRE fireflies! YES!

What about tinsel? Maybe you could have giant spiders make some really shiny spidersilk for tinsel.
No. 553183 ID: ba8629

The big lion guy used to be the lion humanoid who stabbed you, right?

Also, the firefly has real fire? That isn't going to set everything on fire, will it?

Hey, a celebration probably needs more than two guests. What can be done about that?
No. 553205 ID: 9ddf68

don't these party things usually have sweets or snacks or something for people to eat? we should see weather or not we can't find something right away.
No. 553212 ID: 761017

Make the fireflies glow cobalt blue.

Cobalt blue is the most bitchin color of light.

Yes, Sinan is my would-be assassin. He's not proven much more competent at anything else, except complaining. He's not even very decorative.

So just how giant of spiders are you talking about?

I mean, this place is big. Really big.

Really, really big.

Everything is still kind of horribly broken so I don't exactly have the juice to put something like that together at all right now, much less keep it from collapsing under its own weight.
No. 553247 ID: 5bc031
File 138781454832.jpg - (20.23KB , 500x500 , ahs12.jpg )

Party guests? Well, I hadn't exactly planned on a party but what the hell. Who exactly are you hoping to invite? There's a bunch of angry gnolls to the south, angry lions to the east, cowed mongeese scattered here and there, and a bustling city about 30 leagues downriver to the west. I mean, we're a little short on time here. I could probably get one invite out with Diyil. Unless you a have a better plan?

So now I have a blue bug. It's not really a proper firefly but, you know. Blue flame is about twice the temperature of the nice red glow I had on the other one. Give this an actual flame and it's likely to set things on fire. Or explode. Probably both.
No. 553251 ID: 4a20fa

>So just how giant of spiders are you talking about?
As big as you can make them.

No. 553253 ID: fd6ae9

Cool. Now set the bugs to multiplying. Cover you tree with blinking red and blue fireflies. Try to keep the forest fires to a minimum, for now.

>I could probably get one invite out with Diyil. Unless you a have a better plan?
Could we send up some kind of beacon to attract guests? A Christmas star kind of deal would be more efficient than messengers.
No. 553266 ID: 9ddf68

are there any special symbols or something for this thing we're doing? maybe you could twist some of the endless vines around here into those shapes and have the fireflies rest on them to make them festive?
No. 553272 ID: 2f4b71

>Give this an actual flame and it's likely to set things on fire. Or explode. Probably both.
Solve the invitation problem and the exploding bug problem at the same time: fireworks!

Apparently you had me confused for someone that thinks it's okay to make a new form of life created only to explode. All life is sacred, spirit. Especially when I make it.

I mean, I can do this instead. Volatile exploding berries! I'll just have the bugs store them in a special sac and spit them when needed.
>sweets or snacks or something for people to eat
I can make non-exploding fruit too. Let's hope the guests eat the right ones.

That "beacon to attract guests" thing might not work out so great. I've spent a lot of time and effort teaching the locals that trespassing is harshly punished. I'll just attach some invitations to these bugs, then head up and start the bonfire.

Well you've got two options here.

1. Sabotage. Go over and mess with it.
2. Outdo them. Focus on your own decorations.
No. 553842 ID: 9ddf68

well since it's your oblisk do you think you could overcharge it or something? I mean the thing is meant to help you focus your magic right? if you messed with the flow and rerouted it to there do you think you could maybe... I don't know cause some kind of magical something that would ruin the day of everyone at that thing?

failing that >>553808 what he said

They up staged you! Return the favor and upstage them! You must have 100s of kms of vines here so build a big ass tower of your own!
