CHICAGO is a native american word meaning loosely skunk. IAGO is a welsh name, but similar in structure to many greek words, and purportedly italian. Given that we already have an ARCHIMEDES and an ACHILLES, it's simply continuing on a theme. JUSTICE was a very important notion in the ancient world, so debatably JUSTICE can be placed in the same set. Plus, getting as many disney bird characters as possible as golems is a laudable goal in and of itself.

IAGO is also short and contains a lot of vowels, which is nice and computery because it could be an acronym.

As we are currently deciding the name of the golem in question it does belong here as we are arguing towards a decision. Discussion threads are for completely unrelated posts that have little to no impact on the current actions.

Golems are interchangeable purposewise. It makes more sense to name them according to a linguistic root than whatever selection of arms they currently have attached when we found them.

Greek historical/fictional characters is a good theme, as conforming to a single linguistic root is generally more interesting than picking words from wherever, especially common american placenames or military slang, both incredibly overused here and elsewhere on the internet.

The Ionians were presumably human, based on all this stuff we have learnt. All human cultures so far encountered have a linguistic root. This is based on a similar set of sounds and expands semi-randomly based on a set of rules as it matures and new concepts are added, as well as loanwords, other linguistic influences etc.

In reality, creating a language according to these rules accurately is very hard, so the simplest kludge is to find an existing language and base your fake language on it. We are assuming whatever language (Old Ionian) our computers and golems and dungeon master are speaking is being translated into english - which is fine. But proper names aren't translated, so we can build and maintain versimilitude as players by naming things with words that 'sound' Ionian. 'Ionian' is a greek word. So the easiest way to do things is to use greek/old italian words that sound 'similar' to it to preserve the illusion of a shared linguistic root.

I'm pretty sure that greek did not/does not use the soft 'ch' sound with the hard 'ik' of chicago, ever, and 'kago' ending sounds a bit off as well.

Plus it makes one think of the modern american city by the same name, which seems incongruous in this setting which does not have it, and reduces immersion.]

However I think we SHOULD equip Hazmat "Pompeii" with the hydraulic arm. The time lost equipping it should be made up for the time turning the stuck manual control. We don't want this golem to sit inside an inferno for any length of time.

I would have wanted to run deep scans with module alpha on... well everything that it hasn't done it yet, but unfortunately doing so prevents us from directing our golems which is essential until the fire is taken care of.

Would it be possible for a HYDRAULIC ARM on the hazmat golem to pinch/crush the fuel line closed?

If so it could free up ACHILLES to go into the vent system and see what the problem is there. If the vent system is repaired we could just suck all the air out of most of the rooms.

The medi bot has an oxygen mask right? (200 year old air but still) if so we need not worry about the mage suffocating.
