Impractical until the general public believes in the existence of powers.
Also we are currently avoiding FBI black vans

Also being tied to law enforcement tends to have certain drawbacks for powered individuals. I mean, really, what's the odds everything we end up doing is going to be strictly legal?

And we can aim higher than being a police psychic, I think.

well powers work on time and what you are trying to do. you just managed to unlock SEEING part of the power. can probably get better if you keep trying. and you now have someone you can sneak up and observe to see if you are getting better.

I crawl out of the heap of garbage and stumble home. I hear my mom in the living room and quickly try to sneak past her. It's better if I don't have to explain how I look right now. I'm not sure if I want to involve her in any of this.

At least not until I'm sure what exactly happened. Maybe I should try to train my power - maybe trying to use it from further away. That stoned guy might make a good test subject as long as I could avoid the other two. Those three can't be together all the time.

But before I do any of this I need a bath. As I reach the top of the stairs I hear my mother downstairs.

>"Hey! What's this! Don't I even get a 'Hi, I'm home anymore."

"Euhm - Sorry mom, I didn't notice you." - I try to turn my face, so she doesn't see the bruises from down there.

>"Well I let your friend in earlier - he's probably still waiting in your room for you."
I guess Chris has found a safe hiding place for all his important documents and is now using my internet, so that the government can't trace his visits to various conspiracy forums directly back to him or something.

"Oh - Ok, I have to take a bath first."

>"... everything OK?"

"Yes... - euhm yes... just... the meteor hunt got a bit messy today..."

I slip out of her line of sight and into the bathroom before she can ask any more questions. Throwing my dirty clothes into a corner, I start letting in hot water and examine my swollen eye in the mirror. I don't think Chris'll mind waiting a bit longer and this little pause also gives me some time to think of what has happened since yesterday or whether i want to let some parts out for now.
Knowing him he'd probably be the only one who'd believe me and I could be pretty sure that he'd not run to the police or even to a news station, if I'd ask him. On the other hand he would probably post it anonymously on one of his forums and that might attract some unwanted attention.

when you do start to talk to your friend ask him how his night went first and then show him the rock you found in your backyard, then go from there.

While you bathe, reach out with your awareness. It may not be entirely effective, but it's practice.
>>
No. 511272 ID: af8414

Yeah don't tell Chris about the powers, he'd leak it.

Telling him you found a space brick should be fine though, right?
>>
No. 511273 ID: bf54a8

you could probably ask him to steal wireless from someone ELSE'S house so the black vans bug them or something when he leaks it.
>>
No. 511275 ID: d6ef5d

Hmm. We could share finding the space rock with him. You could even let him see it! We sort of have to, if we want to explain how you ended up following the girl who photographed you and getting beaten up. (That might get the point across that you really don't want him giving you away).

I mean, he can even brag anonymously about the space rock online, so long as there's nothing tying it back to us. (I mean, it's hardly as if you're the only one who found one. Everyone with a power will have).

I'd keep quiet about the power bit for now, as you aren't completely sure it works, and you don't want that posted anywhere online. You've got an edge in no one knowing you have a power, or what it does, yet.

and yeah should be basically CONSTANTLY concentrating on whatever part of your brain let you feel power from the guy.

Even if you don't tell him about the powers right away, tell him to try to keep the rock secret in case he is right about the black vans and such.

Tell him everything. it will really hurt your friendship otherwise when he finds out you lied to him about something so important to him.
Anonymous postings shouldn't hurt and you could actually ask him to not do so.
Would be pretty funny if he found one too.

I guess I should tell Chris most of what happened, maybe leave out the part about the superpowers for now. Since he has all kind of weird apparatuses, he might even be able to analyse the meteor somehow.

"HEY! What happened? Did you find something? There's somebody in your room. What's with your eye? "

I try ignoring my sister jumping around me as I leave the bathroom. But as she tries to squeeze into my room I have to acknowledge her existence.

"Nothing happened! Get out!"

She just grins at me as I push her out into the hallway. "I know what you're going to do now."

"Yeah sure - I'm going examine the alien I'm, hiding under my bed and then plan how to smuggle some of those brain slug eggs under your pillow tonight, right?"

She stares at me a bit, pondering that option for some seconds "No, you're not. You.'re going to.." - I quickly close the door before she canannoy me any further and hurry to my drawer, trying to ignore everything besides getting some new clean clothes.

towel on TOWEL ON TOWEL ON!!! THAT ISN'T CHRIS

Also try not to scream like a little girl and for the love of god don't turn your body around until you have at least put that towel on.

As for what to do, as calmly as you can ask why she is in your room? If an awkward silence happens just say "well I'm glad to see you got away"

How to cover up and be totally smooth. Without turning around, drape the towel over your shoulders and say this:
'I suppose you're here to see the thing I mentioned earlier? Or is it to repay me for my earlier attempt at heroism?'
>>
No. 511406 ID: d6ef5d

Okay. So after covering up, and the awkwardness, we should probably get introductions out of the way (neither of you knows the others name) and uh, see why she came back, I guess.

>>511397
Uh. Could we try and avoid saying anything skeezy at this point? Dunno if that's how you meant it, but it can sure be read that way, and we're in poor circumstances for it. She came back after we helped her out, I'd rather not scare her off again by pushing too hard.
>>
No. 511422 ID: 5a5dd4

Don't turn around, don't get embarrassed, don't flip out and scream like an idiot.

Just sigh in defeat, put your towel back on, and calmly ask her to get out of your room. You can talk to your mother about her eyesight later.

"I was just at home reading, and then...." - Something isn't right, although I can't quite put my finger on it. Chris hasn't said anything yet, so I turn around to check whether everything is alright.

"AHHH." - "AhHH."

"GAH." I nearly drop my towel, but am able to yank it up at the last moment - "I just... SORRY! I... WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?"

"AH I saw... uh.... I DID'NT SEE ANYTHING... I mean... I just came by to say thanks and... and your sister let me in and... I... uhm.... just...."

"Ok... Could you... just... leave the room for a minute or so..."

>>
No. 511646 ID: e3aff6

Now that I think about it I am in favor of telling him about the powers, but if so you should really stress the importance of not telling others and especially not posting about it online. Things posted online tend to stay online, and even a site that is adequately secure (or obscure) right now likely won't be that way forever, especially if someone gives them real information. Seriously, posting supposedly non-incriminating information online screws people over in normal life; the addition of amateur security probably won't help those odds when weighed against the addition of the major and long-term attention that is likely to be tracking this sooner or later.

Which is why we should only tell Chris.
Considering her reaction to the black vans thing earlier she will think us a nut.

>>511690
Don't
She is just outside the room, she will hear you yelling this and it is rather shallow to reduce her to just "hot chick".
