You feel tired, but you do not go to sleep. It has been a long time since last you took rest. A very long time. Why is this?

You can't sleep because of your PARANOIA. Not what I expected, but suitably appropriate. In particular, you fear fear the clowns and zombies. Unholy abominations that lurk in the shadows, all of them. If you saw a zombie clown (heaven forbid) you just wouldn't know what to do. [Spoilers/]Yes you do, kill it with fire.[/spoilers]

The stage looks kind of blank, but we can get to that later. Your character is more important. Next question is "Who are you?", followed directly by "okay, now who are you REALLY?". The first is surface appearance, the second goes deeper, provides motive or holds secrets.

your a musician, you play at local joints, some private gigs, sometimes even just preform on the street.

Who you really are is a thief. Back in your younger days you tried to make it big and even mange to get a big name producer that even had some famous celebrities under his name but when all was said and done he ended up screwing you out of thousands of dollars. So to get back at him you broke into his home and stole everything of value that you can get your hands on. you were only somewhat successful however as half way through the robbery the guy came back home and caught you in the act, you managed to get away but he hired some goons after you and you've been on the run ever since.

Was kind of joking, but okay.

Another detail, I need to mark these boxes either fight or flight. I'm assuming two flight, one fight.

Last character creation question, What's your path? Could it be exacting a more full revenge against that fool producer? Running away and being rich and famous elsewhere? Something else entirely? Seriously, this room is just PACKED with free will.

Wait, another question. I don't think I caught your name. Could it be HORATIO LUTE? Lute would be an amusing musical pun on your side job, stealing stuff. I hope it's Horatio Lute.

Well shucks, the questionnaire never ends. Turns out, you probably noticed that if you are feeling especially exhausted, you can just zone out a little and do something incredibly well. You might call it snow exhaustion talent. What'll it be, champ?
>>
No. 506634 ID: 2e0c66

Hah, replace "snow" with "an"
>>
No. 506640 ID: 9ddf68

When I said road worn I kinda pictured the guy with slightly longer unkempt hair and a scraggly beard and maybe an acoustic guitar as those are easier to maintain.

As for a name... well I suck with names so if you want to call him Lute well more power to you.

yeah 2 flight and one fight sounds about right. Only fights when he has to.

As for goals... uhhhh, trying to get enough money to get out of the country and then finally being able to get back on track with his life.
>>
No. 506918 ID: 94e610

Your path.. your quest...

Your quest is to exact revenge against the evil, evil clown moon. It's part of why you don't dare to sleep; it might get you, and you won't listen to anyone who claims it only looks that way because you're too exhausted to think straight.
>>
No. 506919 ID: 94e610

Oh, an exhaustion talent. Huh.

Well, how about.. setting things on fire. Like zombies. Where other people worry about getting dry kindling, or need to use lighters and gasoline, you can set *anything* flammable on fire with the smallest spark.

>>
No. 507142 ID: af9733

You are Horatio Lute. You have been wronged by a man you trusted. Now you will destroy him.

You are clever. You have spent your time on the run learning all the ins and outs of the shadow world that hides just underneath everything. You know people, you know places, you know what sells and how to get things done.

You are patient. You aren't going to go after That Man again directly. You know what will happen. You will wait. You will whittle his empire down a bit at a time until there is nothing left. Then you will strike.

You have demons. Somewhere along the line, you've been haunted. Recurring nightmares leave you with a cold sweat and a blurry memory. You are not sure what it is that is scaring you. Clowns. Zombies. When you try to remember, these are words that flash in your mind. You've given up on sleep now. You know when you try you'll have the dreams again. You also know you won't remember. What are they about? Why does it feel like they are related to your driving quest for revenge?

Your extensive time awake has dulled your senses. Your conscious mind is only semi-aware most of the time, and your subconscious takes over the body, and performs everything you know without the inhibitions that come with the fear of failing.

When performing, you aren't there, but 'you' play your instrument with amazing ability. When you have an accident, you don't feel the pain, but 'you' register something is wrong. After all last night, when writing the notes to your latest song, you fell asleep on your pencil. You snapped awake when it gouged into your cheek, but you felt no pain. Only the pressure of the pencil pushing into your flesh. You removed the pencil and continued to write, despite the blood occasionally dropping on the sheet.

You are Horatio Lute. If there is one word to describe you it is: odd.

To reiterate, you are HORATIO LUTE, TRAVELING MUSICIAN. However, times are tough, and you have taken up a new hobby, Burglary. You are also on the run from your treacherous manager, who is largely the cause of your hard times.

You are fluent in music, able to play most anything with strings, and, yeah, you can pretty much play anything, given a minute.

You have a talent in which you have inhuman skill. It seems to be either mastery of ignition, or mastery of music- unless popularity somehow swings in a different direction.

Since that is the last bit of actual character creation, that means it is pretty much time to start. You get to set the stage how you like, then things start getting interesting. First one with support of three auto wins. If a week passes and there are no clear winners, I will pick my favourite. If there are NO suggestions or consensus is I should do that myself... then I will take your first step of our grand adventure for you.

Latest count shows that pyro wins, two to one.

Gained exhaustion talent: Burning Star
Where others have to worry about tinder and flint, you can coax out a flame, with both speed and efficiency. Furthermore, as an experienced special effects man, you keep hidden pouches, which hold handy things like dry matches, flash paper, fuses, and so on.

Glad we got that settled, I can tell you. We just need an opening scene, a proper start to our story. You can write it yourself, and I would accept it as best I can. Best hurry, though, I want to speed this up.

(Oh, yeah, and you also get a sort of stat sheet. I'll see about some labels soon, alright?)

you are just finishing up a gig at some local bar for some quick cash. Right now you are dead broke and if this gig doesn't give you at least something you're going to either have to find an alley to sleep in or steal something again to pay for a cheap motel. You're also slightly on edge because you heard some goons from your old manager were in the area but don't really have any proof to weather or not there is any truth to that.

An apology for the delay.

It's late on a saturday, the lights are dimmed and (nearly) everyone has left. You still need to negotiate with Bill here, discussing your fee.
"Come on. We both know I need this. Do you really expect that to last me the night?"
"Hey, if you started sleeping at night like a normal person instead of taking a midnight lunch, that'd be a whole meal you wouldn't have to worry about. Besides, you know how things are these days. You're kind of a wanted man, you know. I'm taking a risk every time you perform."
"Yeah, yeah. And you take those risks for their profit. I am the best, and that's really all there is to say on the matter. How about it?"

Well lookie there. Your favorite duo. Johnny and Jimmy, probably looking for none other than yourself. You ARE a wanted man, after all.
Their discussion has turned to argument, as usual, so they haven't noticed you yet. You still have time to scamper out the back door, Bill won't stop you. On the other hand, you could probably take on the both of them. You know you have certainly been running longer than you like...
>>
No. 529450 ID: c95833

Get on out of there. Wouldn't do to trash Bill's place with a fight.
>>
No. 529582 ID: cd5382

You do not want to cause Bill here any unnecessary treble, so it's probably best to pop out through that back door behind the bar. However, you know that the door leads not into an alley, but a sort of storage room, which splits between the exit, and the stairs.
Second floor is entirely empty, one big unfurnished room, third floor is an unused cubicle farm. Roof access is probably a bad idea with angry thugs after you.

It looks like you have some options in your choice to run. You could try to leave entirely, via alley. You could ambush and/or duke it out at your location of choice. Or,you could try hiding.

Naturally, you could try to implement some zany sleep-deprivation induced ploy. I wouldn't stop you.
>>
No. 531371 ID: a01b62

Why is roof access a bad idea? They won't think you'd be dumb enough to go up there, and you can wait for them to leave and get back to drinking. Worst comes to worst, hope the buildings are close together.

You vault the bar, not wasting any time on the little door bit right there.

"Take care, Hort."
"I'll try."

It is very dark in here. Your headache feels a bit worse.
