>Move on
>leave the note on the inside window sill or under the door
None of the windows are open. We would have to break one. That would be efficient, but maybe we should come back later. We slide the note under the baker's door for now.
The town square is filled with merchants and townspeople doing their thing. It isn't long before we've collected everything we need from the list.
>Ask around about the baker in general. Anyone seen him, any visitors, etc.
While shopping, we ask around about the baker. Many of the merchants know and like Lescaut, and some of them have noticed how odd it is that his shop is closed today. We're told Lescaut is an older gentleman whose wife passed away some years ago. He lives in the bakery with his son, Rémy, and has little else to do but run his shop.
One merchant in particular seemed to be concerned for Lescaut's wellbeing: according to him, Lescaut and Rémy have been at odds for the past two months, which is causing Lescaut a great deal of stress.
