You wake up, your head pounding, lying on the bumpy cavern floor. It's a bit dark, and you feel confused. What happened? You recall mining, and someone yelling, but everything after that is black.

You sit up, and feel your stomach rumble. Some meat would be nice right now. You feel a breeze coming from your right. Your main concern at the moment is getting out of here and back to the other Kobolds.
Your name is Sklaks, and you are a Kobold, specifically from the Miner Caste. You know everything(after all, the high priest has taught you, and he is never wrong.) You're cold and lost, and would really like some food.
what do you do?

Ah, fresh meat! And it's Kobold too! I don't get to eat my co-miners very often! I feel full for now.

That glowing thing? Its a mushroom. Bleck. Too close to green foods. But... I hear eating one helps you see in dark places better...

My backpack? I've got my dagger... Some of the priest's salve for my cuts... and some Soven jerky... Forgot about that, hehe. Pretty sure my co-miner won't mind.
It looks like my eyes are adjusting... That or the cave is getting more light...
What should I do?

Grab your Pickaxe and start moving to the right, possibly singing and whistling merry mining song while walking.
>>
No. 487959 ID: 76b151

At least grab the mushroom for later. You never know when you'lll need a lightsource or better vision. Also see if you can't dig out your co-miners pack. Extra supplies won't hurt.

Then grab the pickaxe and head towards the left!
>>
No. 487968 ID: 695191

Can you see in this much dark without it? Eating it is good, but carrying it for light is maybe better for now? At least leave it there for now, to use its bright light until you leave.

Try to move or pick off those rocks that were on that other delicious kobold. There is certainly more meat and maybe another bag with good stuff to take.

Retrieve your pick then check out the encroaching light. Stuff one mushroom in your pack before you go, as well. Just in case it gets darker.

I don't know many songs, but I'll try to whistle as well as I can.

Lets see... Score! Got some of my friend's stuff. I couldn't get his bag, but I was able to score two more Salves, some Soven jerky, his left arm, and... THREE WHOLE SHINIES.

I pick one of the disgusting shrooms, it'll be better to use it as light.

I head to the right and find some sort of... glowing... tentacle thingy... And bones... They look tasty... There also appears to be an entrance to another part of the cave... Or something...

What should I do?

That would be a predator. It looks like it's covered in sticky mucus so if you tried to hit it with something it would just grab onto your weapon. Feed it your leftover meat scraps so you can pass.

>>

Do you know how to get to the kobold caverns from the outside? It might be quicker then wandering through an unknown route.

If sunlight really hurts we can always wait till nightfall. Though we would need to deal with the snorer. sneakily check it out.

Wield your dagger and sneak up on the source of the snoring. Maybe you can score some loot.
>>
No. 488257 ID: 13b04f

You should carefully sneak into the snoring room, the sunlight is but a transient obstacle, and you can't stab sunlight in it's sleep. also, you never actually lost any off that jerky, its aol inside of the fish!

I've never been outside the caverns before, so I think I'd have equal chances of succeeding. I don't know if sunlight really hurts, I just know that they say that amongst the hatchlings to discourage them from going out. I suppose I can go find the snoring thing and stab it if it looks like it'll yield anything.

Oh. It's a Soven, and a big one at that! Although killing it will be the tough part... Their hides are pretty tough. What do you think I should do? I can kind of see behind it, although it just looks like more cave... Or something.

Pros of killing this thing: You can report its location to the others. Get some recognition from your tribe as a great hunter. Maybe a status upgrade.

Cons: It might kill you if you don't kill it on the first blow.

... do you think you are strong enough to get at its brain with your pickaxe? You do chip away at stone a lot.
>>
No. 488470 ID: f2c20c

I dunno if we stand to gain anything from killing it. We've got enough food.

Would it be likely to attack you if it woke up? Could you just sneak around it? The safest path now might be the sunlit tunnel entrance, if not.

Eh, it's just a Soven. No real recognition for these things. They just eat lichen and stuff. Not even dangerous in the slightest... Really docile animals. Make great jerky. As for the pickaxe, I tried... It's kind of stuck now, but
I can probably pry it loose. The thing is still snoring.

I think the man's okay for the most part. After all, to become a lich you have to be smart and knowledgeable about magic and the like. So, be polite, try to be less afraid and lead him to the cave with the heart beat noise. But whatever you do, do NOT mention us. Even if we're not advisory spirits or whatever, we might be interesting enough (or maybe not, I'm not sure) for in-depth study, a kobold with voices in it's head that provide advice and knowledge, some of which may or may not know or has forgotten. God I hope the lich isn't a telepath...

Also, not suggesting you do this, but if you feel like it won't get you killed, ask Nedor why he is gathering an army?
>>
No. 489068 ID: 695191

Well it's worth something to him, and maybe a risk to you, so point that out and ask for compensation. Doesn't need to be *stuff* if he can do some other kind of good favor.

And uh... don't be too greedy, since he can probably magic you into shit eating mushrooms then find the weird room on his own anyway.

"I don't know to be honest... But I've been meaning to ask... Why do you need an army?" I ask.

"Ah, that my little friend, is because a friend of mine, a wizard, is in need of some assistance... But, I have a question for you Sklaks. I wish to repay you for indulging me. Ask for something, and I'll see what I can do."

Or smoking skeleton like your friend here, if you like!

So, anything you would like become? e.g. not dead? Never dead? Enough meat? Always sated?
Regarding protecting your tribe... being more like a big nasty monster smashing and eating all monster or more like the priest, knowing even more than everything, protecting your friends with magic shields and healing? Just a short question of character for a better guidance...

But seriously get some pants with pockets.

A robe is a good option too, but don't get a hood. I tried putting one on you and it looks silly.

Regardless of gender, the traditional D&D kobold is quite unisex in role and personality.

That being said...

Ballerina outfit is fine, but lose the tutu.
It's too bulky, and ultimately pointless.

Ballerina's outfit, of course! Let's see what Nedor thinks!

"I'm done!" He stares at me for a while.

"No... Just..."

Tell her about how you're a miner and about the rest of the kobolds.
