This is Wilhelm. Wilhelm is in training. Training for what you ask?

Wilhelm is going into a very important line of work. He's going to be a nanny.

Not just any nanny. In fact, he's being trained by THE nanny. And he's almost graduated! He's got his umbrella for flying, and he's got his magical carpet-bag of holding, as well as a piece of chalk for drawing portals!

But today is special. Wilhelm gets a call from his mentor. It looks like he's got to pass one more test before he can care for the children of the world...

Heads up, guys. This is a text quest (and would you really want ME to draw this whole thing? Come on, you see dat pic). But I'll give you stuff to look at, you'll see.

Grumble that you already know how to draw the portals to sacrifice the children to Scraa'aar'lyaa, lord of the Golden Abyss. What more do you need?

MARY POPPINS: Good afternoon, Wilhelm.

WILHELM: You wanted to see me, Ma'am?

MARY POPPINS: I've just got a summons. This usually means that the entire multiverse is in danger. Unfortunately, I've got an appointment with some very troubled triplets, an alcoholic father, and a mother who's far too busy preparing for the end times to pay much attention to anything else.

WILHELM: Wait... the Multi... what?

MARY POPPINS: They'll explain everything when you get there.

(She taps the cloud that she's sitting on with her umbrella three times, and a golden portal opens in it.)

MARY POPPINS: Good luck, Wilhelm. Be a dear and survive this, will you?

WILHELM: .....I'll do my best, Ma'am.

(As the PLAYER, you have full control of Wilhelm, now! Take good care of him! Are there any preparations you'd like to make, or are you ready to embark on your fabulous adventure?)

Nah, we need to learn how to build a Black Gate and summon the Guardian.

Okay. Important nanny preparations. Do we have songs prepared? Do we know how to contact the local chimney sweeps?

Take an hour to have sex with yourself via portals before doing anything else, or loose all claim to manhood.

A nanny always has songs prepared!

WILHELM: Will Bert and his friends be able to come along?

MARY POPPINS: I'm afraid not. As the harbinger, Bert must stay here, to find cases for us and to assist us in our duties. He cannot travel in the multiverse, unless he accompanies you on active nanny duty.

WILHELM: So what is this, then?

MARY POPPINS: A most special task, indeed.

WILHELM: And what's the multiverse?

MARY POPPINS: They'll explain everything when you get there. Or whatever they feel like explaining. Or whatever they can explain. The multiverse is... complicated. Now, do hurry!

Wilhelm is too responsible to masturbate in front of his employer! But there may be time for that, later.

Without making any additional preparations, Wilhelm bids good-bye to Mary Poppins and jumps through the portal.

Now open the picture.
Wilhelm finds himself in a strange place. This is certainly not his world. Strange animal-people are staring at him, their eyes full of concern.

???(Dog-man): Gawrsh, Mary. You sure look different!

???(Duck-man): NOOOO! You idiot! That's not Mary at all!

???(Mouse-man): Look, guys! He's got the umbrella and the carpet bag. He must be a different nanny.

???(Mouse-lady): But do you think he'll be able to do what needs to be done?

???(Duck-lady): Well, he's going to have to, isn't he!?

Kill them all. All of them. Talking animals are an abomination. That bitch Poppins probably slipped you some drugs. She's planning to sell you to those filthy <insert favorite ethnic slur of the time here>s.

Right, kill and eat those assholes, then go find and kill your "employer" when the trip's over. You've probably been shanghaied.

The five creatures introduce themselves as Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, and Goofy.

WILHELM: Where... Where am I?

MICKEY: Well, it's kinda... complicated. You see, this is the Hub-world.

WILHELM: Hub-world?

MINNIE: Yes. The world that connects every world in the multiverse. It's also the world that your chalk taps into to make portals. That's why it will be extremely useful, Wilhelm.

DAISY: We wanted Mary for her magic chalk, as well as her other abilities. Your chalk, because I assume it's the same as hers, will allow you to draw portals to take you from one world to the next.

WILHELM: I'm sorry... I don't follow.

DONALD: (after making incomprehensible, angry noises) It's like this... There are 52 different worlds, right? Not counting your world and the Hub-world, right?

WILHELM: Uhh... right?

DONALD: So you gotta world-hop, and save all of them!

WILHELM: Why? What's wrong with them?

GOOFY: Well... See, that's what's so funny.

MICKEY: We're the guardians of the Hub-world, and so we usually know what's going on in the multiverse. But...

MINNIE: Well, we're stumped.

MICKEY: But if it's what I think it is, it's really, really bad.

DAISY: You don't have time to worry about it now! Just draw a portal and save the multiverse already!

MICKEY: Oh, and I should warn you... some worlds might require you to do a bit of shapeshifting before you can go inside. But we'll help with that.

MINNIE: Now, your portals will take you to whatever world needs you the most.

GOOFY: But once you've seen a world, you can go back to it whenever you want!

DONALD: ...As long as it's still there...

MINNIE: Donald!

MICKEY: Why would you say such a thing?

Donald just shrugs, and gives Wilhelm a wary look.

DONALD: Just be careful out there.

MINNIE: You don't have much time. We'll be here to help if we can, and we'll be on the lookout for more people who can help you in your quest. Just draw a portal when you're ready to move on to the next world.

They know nothing and they're useless and annoying. Plus, turns out you really have been shanghaied to help out with some incomprehensible bullshit that you have no reason to care about, given that there's no way it affects you.

Kill a couple of them to gain the cooperation of the rest and ask, in any order that you care to, why you should care, what the hell is actually going on, and why you shouldn't just kill them all. Or all but the least annoying one, if you really do need their help to shapeshift and you can't just draw shapes onto yourself or some shit.

MICKEY: Well, so long! We'll be seeing you!

Wilhelm draws a portal and hops inside. This is really weird, and he's probably trippin' balls for all he knows (though he is a fine, upstanding nanny and would never take drugs). But they sounded really desperate, and Wilhelm would never leave anyone without help!

The portal takes him to an empty room, vaguely sparkling with glitter. Suddenly, you hear a familiar voice coming from a speaker in the wall.

MINNIE: This is a pre-recorded message. If you're hearing this, be advised that this world requires you to shapeshift before entering. You must take the form of a typical woodland creature. Speak your preferred form, and prepare to enter the world.

Are we constrained to a specific kind of woodland? That's a pretty broad term.

Wilhelm finds himself in a forest clearing on a beautiful spring day. He hears a very sweet voice.

???: I think I'll call them Geno and Gurri.

Animals fill the clearing, not even noticing Wilhelm's presence, and all around, there are murmurs of approval of the "new little prince and princess." There is a doe with her two little fawns lying in the center of the clearing, apparently the royal family.

Wilhelm is a good nanny. He would never hurt a child!

>>471599
But there are children present! And besides, Wilhelm would be embarrassed to do such a thing, even in front of animals.

>>471556
Wilhelm is slightly worried about his lack of chalk, carpet-bag, and umbrella, but he can think about that later. For one thing, he still has the somewhat uncontrollable telekinesis that all nannies are blessed with.

For another, now he's paranoid about security. He looks around, but he doesn't see any little animal-warriors running up to him.

But suddenly, he hears a booming voice behind him.

???: State your business here, stranger. I will not have you jeapordizing my forest.

Wilhelm turns and sees a huge, towering buck with flashing brown eyes standing over him. The animals all part in deference to the imposing figure, and even the young prince and princess hide their eyes from the magnificent creature. But the young mother is calm. She turns to Wilhelm, suddenly concerned.

???(Buck): Well? I am waiting for an explanation.

WILHELM: ....I hear you might be in need of a nanny?

???(Doe): Nanny? No need. These are my fawns, and I will be more than adequate as a mother for them.

???(Buck): ...Now hold on a minute, Faline. Look at this guy. He's got big claws and sharp teeth, right?

FALINE: ....Right...

???(Buck): Think about it, Faline. It might be... advisable for the young Prince and Princess to be protected by such a formidable bodyguard. Especially if anything were to...

FALINE: Don't finish that thought. I suppose you're right.

Faline turns to Wilhelm, obviously conflicted between the needs of her children and her own maternal instincts.

FALINE: What makes you think that you will be a suitable bodyguard for the royal family?

The entire forest seems to await Wilhelm's response with bated breath.

I like it how quickly the unknown, armed stranger goes from being considered a potential threat to a potential asset. These guys are pretty quick to trust.

Is there like, a nanny's credo or something you can recite? A childcare, guidance and protection nanny equivalent of a doctor's Hippocratic oath?

WILHELM: I can assure you that, as a nanny, I am absolutely 100% qualified to be "practically perfect in every way."

FALINE: That's really vague.

WILHELM: Erm... yes. Yes, it is. But I can assure you, I'm great with children. I am never cross, I'm sure the children will find my games extremely diverting, and I am kind but extremely firm.

FALINE: Well, that is all well and good. But how are you qualified as a bodyguard.

Wilhelm is stumped. He knows that, as a wolverine, he would be perfectly qualified to be a bodyguard. But he's never had to resort to violence in his life! Completely unsure of what to say next, the only thing that comes to mind is his mentor's sure-fire recipe for suddenly having "a lot to say."

WILHELM: Well... It's like... I'm kinda....

FALINE: Yes? Go on?

WILHELM: *gasp* SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS!

Many animals burst out laughing, including the imposing buck. It seems absurd, even this majestic animal laughing uproariously, but it's definitely reassuring.

FALINE: Is that even a word?

???(Buck): Oh, I like this guy. He's funny, very funny.

FALINE: But that has nothing to do with...

???(Buck): You're hired, Sir.

Various animals cheer various things such as "Long live the baby prince and princess!" or "Hurrah for the new bodyguard!"

The buck smiles at his subjects, and walks back into the depths of the forest. Faline glares at Wilhelm.

FALINE: Just because the Great Prince of the Forest trusts you doesn't mean that I have to. I am these fawns' mother, and I will be watching them, and you, quite carefully.

Wilhelm introdcuces himself to the animals of the forest, and quickly meets a forest full of happy, excited animals. The tiny, bashful fawns look up at him in wonder, curious what this mysterious, silly creature is.

Reassure Faline that you're not looking to replace her or anything, and that you're totally safe to be around. Really.

Also say hi to the royalty you've somehow ended up becoming the secret service for. Ask if they need anything.
