> Ask the table what's next after you pick the flowers, when their shift ends, and if they have anything they'd particularly like to do on a date.

"Well, then you get to meet the Boss. And maybe you could get one of those big books, and we could read it together?" she says blushing.

(Going to call votes now, because I wont have time to write later.)

You pick up the keys under Vervain and Hollyhock, and introduce them to the safe..the safe is a little shy, but pretty soon they are a happily married threesome..and the safe gives birth to an job application form.

Some how this seems either less or more trippy then it should.

Oh, well then. While I'm sure other posters could have a lot of fun with being a terrible joke about buttsex if I had to pick one of them it would be that death is only a small and temporary setback.

Part B
When you ask your heart what to do, what song do you struggle to live up?

The Song of:

[ ] Heaven: You've given your heart to the cause of Justice and Beauty. To the highest calling the Angels know. To remaking the broken world into a Heaven. To work endlessly at the task of making justice, making goodness, giving beauty to the things that are.
Now, that part even humans can sometimes see, but the Angels, the Angels them selves, they say more, they say that this world is a fallen place. They say people filthy dirty things crawling on a corupt rock. They have sealed the gates of Heaven against the world, even as they labour to make the world outside those gates shine brighter. You don't have to agree with that part..but you can!

[ ] Hell : You've given your heart to the cause of Hell. To love this "fallen" world! The creed of Hell is to celebrate what is, to rejoice in how things and people _are_. Most of all they are the ones who love the ugly things, the horrible things, the evil things, and the corrupt. They witness those things that no-one else would watch, they celebrate the unsung. They work to be with the dieing and the unloved.
Now, that part you buy into. But the Devils, they say more, they say that the pain, the corruption, the evil, the wicked, and the victims, are the best, are better then the good. That suffering is better then health. That abusing power is better then wielding it well. That's the downside of loving wicked things, you get a little wicked your self. But you don't have to be wicked. If you are just a Power, not a Devil, its a choice.

[ ] The Light. You've pledged your self to the Light, to the cult of human survival. You belive that more then anything else, human life matters, that humanity should live forever.

Now the Light itself, and the Magisters that spring from it, are cold and ruthless things. They would sacrifice freedom, love, purpose, laughter, all the things that make humanity what it is, if it would buy thus human immortality. And it cares _nothing_ for inhuman peoples, for the Giants, or the artificial minds. The thousand thousand other races of the Universe. It wants Life, and just Life, eternal life, for humanity.
You can choose to serve it only so far, to value other things. But that is still what you are serving.

[ ] You've sold your self to the Dark, the cult of human suicide. -- To the thing that loves the human freedom to err, to hurt, to wrong, to refuse to see, and which loves best the power in the soul of a human that makes them go willingly to their deaths. And this Code, this Song, more then any other deffends the human right to _be_ human. -- will say that in this world of impossible powers, and transcendent beings, that humans have a right to live, to self-governance, to self-determination in a world of cosmic entities. That part at least you serve.
The Magisters of the Dark - the laughing and brooding faces of human failings - are like the Devils in that they love the worst things best. They exalt in each scuicide, hold it a sacrament, they are with each human soul, in some capacity, when it does horrible, stupid, and self-destructive things. They are dimly disturbed by the righteous martyrs, and they are not good. You may not be good either, if you serve them; but weather to embrace human suicide over other human freedoms is your choice.

[ ] The Wild. You have bound yourself to the wild, and made yourself a wildlaw: casting off all chains of propriety, sainity, and mundanity, and realizing that you have the option to be what you are, unshackled and unbound. There is nothing so loathsome to the Wild as a Cage, as a prison, as coercion, as to bind something to ones will. And to be Wild is to set your self on a path to unconsciousness, to ultimately be a slave to your inner laws, deaf to the words of others, blind to the sight of others, free in time from communication as from coercion, a solitary being in a world of one, knowing only what you must do. The Magisters of the Wild have walked far on that path. How far down it will you go?

Application Part 2, Part A:

Time is from the: [X]Beautiful side of the World
Because all things take place in time, therefore beauty--while fleeting--is part of time.

Time is Something: [X]You Live.
If I can be described as one thing, I am change. Change takes time and happens over time, and as time goes on I have changed more things.

You Human Life was: [X]Blessed with Happiness.
I was brilliant, but a part of my community who organized and made civic works. Spouse, three kids, even some grandkids before I died. Life was pretty good.

Part B:
When you ask your heart what to do, what song do you struggle to live up?

The Song of:
[X] Heaven: You've given your heart to the cause of Justice and Beauty.

Life was good and I did my best to make the world around me better, but there was still much pain, suffering and injustice. In this new existence I no longer have the same mortal concerns and limitations, and I can do better.

So who is your boss?

[ ]An Angel, demanding and awesome. Sort of like ya cool big brother, whose busy.
[ ]A Devil, wounded, and always with you. Like a war vet or druggy who loves you, but doesn't always give the best advice.
[ ]A Magister of the Wild, obcesed with justice, and lost in their self. Which you are now a part of, yet you have wrytrouble understanding Them, and They you.
[ ] A Arrons Sepent. Peaceful and Sensuous. It would be nice to have a 25 thousand ton snake fight for you, but unless the world is ending and probobly even then, that's your job. It's just going to hang out eating or sleeping, or having sex with planets, or being a normal 10 year old boy.
[ ] A True God, Pimordial and Intertwined with Things. Trying to get help from a True God is like grabing a power line to pull up the power company, which it must be noted does sort of work.
[ ]

[ ] A Magister of the Light, Idealistic and Souless. They will talk with you, they will set aside the time to be a good boss. But they won't understand. Like a fifties sitcom dad , might try to be hip, try and see your needs, but they don't live in your world, to bussy counting the forest to see the trees.

[ ] A Magister of the Dark. A being of hungers and choices.
They will hear you, they will even understand. But getting them to stop and pay attention? To get that this is _important_. Thats hard.

I'm torn. The Aaron's Serpent sounds like it could be funny but the true god could be incomprehensible, therefore it would be awesome and possibly also funny. Do we want the incomprehensible alien boss or the silly kid that might destroy everything if he's bored for a boss?

Rephrased question: How do we want our protagonist to suffer? The snake would be humiliating and dangerous, the god would be scary, confusing and humbling and probably also dangerous.
If I have to choose I guess I'll go with the god but someone else's input would be good here.
>>
No. 403611 ID: 7d7f79

Y'know what? The serpent will eat problems that get too big, and in the process it becomes an even bigger problem itself since our duties as chief guy who does all the work go up when that happens. This has too much comic potential to pass up.
>>
No. 403616 ID: 7d7f79

As far as our relationship with our boss goes:
He sleeps. If something bugs him enough to wake up then he wakes up for a while, to either tell us to fix it or to eat the problem if it's beyond us.
The limits of how helpful he is to us is that he lets us do whatever we want, including employing whoever we want as underlings, as long as he isn't bothered by it; if we ask for more power he'll go eat something--indirectly giving us more power through his delegation of power and responsibility to us--but this always has the side-effect of giving us more work to do as well.

Okay, we have a "poket" universe to our name. (the size of a house, to a contenet. Also might be strange, like full of elves, or a place where supermarkets are peditory animals.)

Our pocket reality is about the size of Washington D.C.
It is a combination of home, employee village, barracks and office. All our direct underlings are there, their jobs are to take care of the small stuff and keep track of all the details that will need our attention one way or another. So is our office, it is large, comfortable, useful and impressive but simply does not make any difference in our interactions with the boss.
When we meet him, it's always in his private home which is almost entirely just a place for him to sleep with a little platform for people to stand when they're talking to him.
Our nominal home is a mostly ordinary but comfortable house we maintain for sanity's sake, and to have a private place away from the office.

No. 403663 ID: 7d7f79

After the boss ate some minor slug demon/god thing that was giving us a hard time once we now have sentient--but otherwise ordinary--slugs all over the pocket reality. They aren't a problem, but we also have yet to figure out how to get any use out of them.

Okay, so listen up! You have 4 types of magic power. One each for each stat. These are abbreviated as amp, pmp, dmp, and tmp. (mp = miracle point)
Your Time Travel gift also uses 1 dmp each time you use it.

mp can be spent in two ways. 1) mp can be spent to do more powerful miracles. In this use mp can only be used for miracles of the type it is, at full efficiency, out of type mp has to be used at a 3 to one rate (that is amp can only be used efficiently to do aspect miracles. If used for, say, an Treasure miracle it takes 3 amp for each mp you need.)
For this use like this mp can only be spent in units of 1, 2, 4, or 8. (after converting any off-type mp being used.)
Also using 8 mp at once this way inflicts a "deadly wound" that takes at least a month to heal.

Aspect 2 means:
Spending 0 amp on an Aspect miracle, gets you "Pulp Heroism" lets you get + 5 to a mundane action. (this is a lot, but not super human)
Spending 1 amp, lets you do anything that a human can do, and lets you do so with miraculous timing and grace. You finish at the first of the following that is at all possible, practically instantly, at just the right time, or just barely _in_ time.

Spend 2 amp and you also have divine power. You are as strong as bear, as fast as a cheetah, as perceptive as a microscope, as fast calculating as a computer.

Spend 4 and you are as stron, as fast, as you need to be. Anything that could theoreticly be done with enough power and persision, you can do. But you can't do the out right impossible. You cant punch out a character in a movie and have the ending change. You cant pick up a mountain because a piece will just break off in your hand.

Spend 8 and a wound and you can 'master a technique' not only can you do fairy tail feats like hide a mountain in your shirt, or drink a ocean, you can learn the "ocean drinking trick" and until the end of a book, you can keep doing the trick as a mundane action.

Persona lets you change how things relate to your estate.

0 pmp lets you see how people and things are connected to your estate, say if a bad guy is messing with it, or someone in-charge of something related, or just a mortal involved in it, you will get a sort of halo around them telling you how they are involved. Because of how much more influence Miraculous beings have, this will almost always let you pick them out. This is known as The Sight. It also can be used to track down who cast a miracle. Very useful when you are being attacked from afar.

1 pmp lets you bless someone or something with a little hint of the nature of time. Now this is only a small blessing/curse, but it can make someones's life a fair bit better or worse. It should effect them about 90 percent of their life from now on.

2 pmp: You can overlay your consciousness over a piece of time, and experience what it experiences until you want back in your body.

4 pmp. You can grant someone or something an 'affliction' of one of the properties of time.

8 mp..a whole lot of things I am not going to describe right now.

Speaking of that, we need to decide on what we mean by Time, not so much an aristolian definition, but rather what is Time's nature.

Chose three things time does, and write the 4 by the most important, 2 by the second, and 1 by the third.

For example, two ways Cold might be writen up are:
Cold:
brings silence, stillness, and peace. 4
is driven to fill emptiness. 2
cold slows things down. 1

or

Cold
freezes things 4
makes things sick 2
is melancholy 1

What does Time do?

Okay now Domain.
Domain is similar to Persona, but distinct.

Where Persona is about the Dharma or meaning, of your estate, and about making things less or more _like_ your estate. Domain is about directly affecting your estate.

Ah I should note. Persona 4 can also be used to turn things _into_ your estate. Not sure what that would mean for time, but we can work it out when it happens.

You have domain 0 so:

Spending 0 dmp lets you check in with your estate and see how it is doing. Whereas the Sight will when used on 'X' tell you "'X' is attacking my estate." this will let you know that something is wrong in the first place.

Now an attack on an estate genrally is more then just killing or destroying an instance of it. Dogs die every day with out affecting "Dogs". Rather Estates are harmed through their Properties, making them paradoxical or conflicting, or massive attacks on the Estate as a whole. (Though the second is usually fairly easy for a noble to defend against). This can also tell you less urgent news, such as another Power messing with your estate in a incidental way, or attacks against related estates.

1 mp : Ghost Miracles. This lets you create or change the world a little bit. As long as its not that meaning full. The Power of Meat could make a meal..but you would get hungry 15 minutes later. The power of Fire could light a cigarette, but not a bomb. The Noble of Books could make a boring and not very relevant novel.
Basicly the things created are weak on destany, on oomph. But can work to make life a little easier.

2 mp : Conversation and Lesser Divination.
Anyone _can_ talk to say tables, or plants, or peoples secret loves. This means though that you can do it with out stepping into the Mythic Border, and items of your Estate will _listen_ to you. Telling you what you want to know, and maybe even doing something for you. Though not more then they can. A hope doesn't have much physical strength and dog cant paint, but a dog can guard, or a lock open. A car shift in it's parking place a little.
Lesser divination: You want to know something about Time? You do. Now Powers can hide things from this, and you know times, not things around time. And doing things like trying to divine an Angels age, or survey all the many worlds..those probably need a Greater Divination.

4 mp : Lesser Preservations (level 3, but it costs 4 for you, cause mp has to be spent in powers of two) and Creations/Animations/Summoning.

Preservations make your estate stronger. They make things last longer, be more potent, or harder to get rid of.

A Creation creates part of your estate. A Lesser one can probably create up to a day of time, for an area the size of a small city.
A Animation lets your estate _act_. The power of Caves could make one smash together like a stone maw. You might be able to animate clocks or calendars, or control the actions of the right kind of physicist or a journalist.

Summoning lets you move an instance of your estate to you.

8 mp lets you do a Lesser or Greater Destruction, which destroyer a piece of your estate.
A Greater Divination which lets you use your estate as a spy, or divine the time warped around a Serpent, or know times all across the many worlds of the Tree.
It also allows Greater Preservation, and Creations/Animation/Summons. Which are like their lesser brethren, but unlimited by scope.
It also also allows Lesser Motions, you change the location, the context, and the destiny or purpose of the things of your estate. These miracles have certian elegance and subtlety to them. People might have a sense that theres something wrong about JFK's death, or the slightest sense that rabbits should still live in the ocean, but its faint. (though moving a whole species like that is probably a Greater Motion and out of your reach with Domain 0).

Greater Preservation is like a lesser but unlimited by scope.
Similarly for a Greater Creation.

Long term plans? Uh... either end injustice and suffering if that can be done without destroying everything or else make it as low as reasonable in a ratio between it and happiness. (Serve the common good.)

Hypothetical supporting medium term goals:
-survive the next crisis without the boss eating something else
-get a good census of everyone
-try to make a list of what good I can do that won't cause more harm or dependency elsewhere

Uh, your infodump about magic powers is something I'm not sure I understood fully. It's probably a flat TL;DR for most people.

-survive the next crisis without the boss eating something else
-get a good census of everyone
-try to make a list of what good I can do that won't cause more harm or dependency elsewhere

Okay reasonable goals. Okay by everybody who do you mean? Everyone in your home? All humans on earth? All people on Earth? Everything?

If unopposed you could turn earth into a utopia in probobly a few weeks.

You are not unopposed. The Excrusians are trying to end the world, and the Dark and Devils..rather like things like cancer and starvation.

Its tricky because opposing the Devils and the Dark too strongly could convince some to turn against the Excrusians..and even if just one in 10 turned..Earth would almost certainly become a casualty of the War.

We are in charge of time, apparently for one planet only? We need to know about everyone that is sentient or otherwise capable of agency within our influence. We have to know about the allies, enemies, neutrals, civilians and terrain in the conflict to make decisions that won't just cause more problems.

It seems that these fatalist Excrusians are our primary foe because if they win there is no possibility of a comeback. Is this the right priority? If so can we cooperate with the dark and/or devils against them profitably?

You know, people can't have personal growth or evolution without conflict, and you can't have conflict without pain or at least discomfort. Suffering, on the other hand, is an affliction the mind brings upon itself in response to unwelcome external stimuli. A subtle difference. I propose we end suffering.

That is indeed why there is a alliance among the Imperators (beings like your boss).

You are technically in charge of Time everywhere, but 1) as the current residence of the Serpent of Time, Time is way more important on Earth then it is elsewhere. 2) Earth is a front in the Excrusian War and so is under much more stress then most places.

>If so can we cooperate with the dark and/or devils against them profitably?

They are..evil, for lack of a better word..but able to make deals, much as one _can_ make deals with a drug addict or a sociopath. Its not safe, but they do love the Earth, just not for quite the same things.

But then again your boss eats people when he's annoyed so..on the hard to deal with scale he's not at Mr. Rogers either.

A medium expenditure of effort (2 out 5 dmp) can give you the time-lines and changes of all mortals on earth. It will also give you information about the Miraculous creatures on and near earth, but they can hide from it or deceive you with only a little effort.
One such way is that places such as your home are often sealed off from Earth at large, you can spend energy to pierce through such barriers, but it will take an effort (of 1 - 5 mp of any type).

I'm thinking that with beings powerful enough to hide or deceive what I should try for is basic detection that there is something mystic there (or linked to there). The reasoning for that is I probably should have my underlings politely knock on their doors and ask them to fill in census forms anyway, to identify just how hostile they are or aren't. The ones that are problematic or want to arm-twist something out of us for cooperating become... my job... as usual.

That will work for most of them. Somemight object to you even knowing they exist, but hiding like that has its down sides, and is going to be mostly Excruciatian agents in active sabotage roles. You would guess that there is less then 50 of those at any given time.

You now have a time line for all 6,840,506,803.34 humans on earth lives.
You can directly detect 53 Chancels, that is pocket realms connected to Earth. Using your Bond to Making the world Better, you push through the defenses.

Altogether there are 454 Miraculus beings near the Earth. 198 of those appear to be significantly less powerful then you, things like humans with Imperator blood, super science AIs, mages, adult orgs.
97 appear to be Powers like your self, mostly humans granted control over an Estate.
53 appear to be on the level of your boss. Less powerful then you if ambushed, really, really scary if given time to prep.
There seem to be 23 Excrusian shards, and a single full Excrusian currently on Prosaic Earth, and another one in a chancel.
The rest are hiding their nature in one way or another.

Of the 53 Imperators you detect, 14 are of the Light, 14 of the Dark, there are 6 Angels and 4 devils, and 4 of the Wild, 5 serpents including your boss, and 15 True Gods, the rest you are unsure about.

You have the details in your head, so can recall any piece of it at any time (just ask for more detail and I will tell you what you want to know).

"You owe Cain the Power of Murder a big favor. He hasn't called it in yet, but you could ask?"

"The big boss warned you that a major attack against Plastic and Plauge was coming, but left it up to your discretion."
One of your human aides reads off a set of notes. You could keep it in your own mind, but having an out side record to check against means foes have to mess with two things.
"This was a personal matter, but the current time line has a minor nuclear war over inda break out. It will only directly destory a couple of cities..but it 'brings nukes back into war' you said, and raises a lot of dust that while offsetting global warming, also leads to significantly reduced crop yields and mass starvation. This is apparently 'penciled in' for next month."

"Oh, and you have a meeting with the Power of Fusion over letting humanity have Fusion Power Plants. She seemed Agreeable. You told us to expect her at 6 today."

That matches up with what you remember.

Add communicating with the rest of my Light colleagues about this to the communications staff to-do list, I'm sure that with Textrix distracted by me there has to be at least one opportunity for my guys to score against his guys that opens up.

[Note you are of Heaven, not the Light. They are usually more aligned then not, but still different. Think of Light like England and Heaven like the USA. But earth is Ireland in this analogy, so The Light and The Dark are most powerful factions here. but are also strictly local.]

Plague serves a Devil wholeheartedly. She/He is nasty, but honest. She/he is powerful and experienced so probably doesn't need the warning, but pays back her favors. And if she found out you could have warned her and didn't she might get vindictive.

Plastics was a powerful Noble, but got in a fight with his Imperator and was replaced by a 12 year old girl with an artificial heart. This would be the first major attack of her career. On the other hand, she will almost certainly never know you could have helped her if you dont, her death is 'penciled' in for a few days, its unclear what her boss would do after that.

Also its hard to tell what her personal leanings are, she hasn't really done anything drastic yet.

Her boss is a True God, though one who likes humanity.

> By party favours I meant weaponry and tricks. I don't know enough about combat between inhumans in this world to know if a well-aimed cargo container full of C4 makes a good ranged weapon.

Eh. Its a start. Nobles/Excrusians take roughly two nuclear blasts, a bisecting sword strike (or a truck of c4), and three decent punches, or equivalent to be defeated. (though keep in mind, wounds can be things like "cursed to turn into a cat" or "is hiding the fact that he loves his mortal family")

We are almost immune to direct attack because of our ability to flicker through time. So the Strategist will have something clever up his sleeve.

We are basically on the level of Greek Gods.

Strategists tie themselves into reality by embracing a death. Some age as they use their magic, others starve, The Decon becomes more and more apathetic and uncaring, eventually sort of fading away back into unreality in a fuge of enui.

Because of this he hates true faith, people such as ourselves that have a _cause_ we care about.

The history there is... complicated as far as US involvement and such. One of the factors was that the US was worried about India's friendliness to the USSR during the Cold War. They supported Pakistan as a foil, and are alleged to have permitted and supported the Pakistani nuclear development program as part of this. Either way both nations have kept each other's finances and military committed against each other ever since the separation and have had numerous small conflicts and a couple larger armed conflicts in that time, with the single continuing issue throughout being the Pakistani belief that all of Kashmir should be Pakistani territory and Indian disagreement.
Much of the conflict has involved the Pakistani army and intelligence service recruiting primitive tribesmen who live where their federal government doesn't really reach. They give them weapons and bombs and then the tribesmen go have fun in India or smuggle weapons to the separatist Kashmiris or something. Once in a while these tribesmen succeed at this well enough to annoy India into threatening Pakistan and maybe shooting off a couple artillery strikes. There's lots more to it than that but that's the nutshell.

We're going to have to deport some CIA from Pakistan and locate where these dirty bombs came from... if my research division can get started working out a plan for that it'd be great.

2. Are you perchance a veteran from 4chan/tg? You seem to do rapidfire questing where essentially you do the first thing someone suggests. This is necessary there because threads get auto deleted after autosage. Here there is no autosage or thread deletion so voting is possible and most people think it prefereable to go with a consensus rather then first person who says something.
Of course, you don't have to, but I think it makes for better quests.

It looks like she might live out the week. Your getting somewhat confusing signals about it, which might be just be because Noble level fights can snag up time, or someone is going to do something 'clever' like suspend her in a timeless void, or throw her back in time, or de-age her/age her. Hell maybe she finds a way of sommoning her future self, that could cause the tangles you are seeing.

Bah, its a lot easier to do this with mortals.

You could just go and _see_ what happens, but then if you need to change it, it will create a paradox, and that risks letting in a Actual or Excrusian, and then thats even more work, and you can't get around to making the world better.

Uh, most of her future self probability is less than a week older than this. I doubt she learned enough in that time. The less probable the future we drag from the more I'd be worried about paradox. Also, we also don't necessarily know why she survived that long either in that lesser probability so I'd be wary that we're pulling back a hell-affiliated or Excrusian version of her which might promptly kick us in the face.

Just that it likes humanity, which I'm guessing is vague leanings in the direction of light, but it's a god so the teams thing is kind of outside the way he thinks.

Also, the pamphlet is things I already know so there's no worries about causality of knowledge discovery there, and we never did hash out whether we wrote it earlier or later. Teaching someone things I don't know is kind of scary paradox because even if the paradox itself doesn't let in Excrusians they may just feed me their version thanks to the opening caused by the paradox. That could be... bad.

You could just do the research then travel back in time. That won't cause paradox unless something unlucky happens as you are doing the research.

> Yeah, let's call our shortlist of friends we'd turn to for helping with recruitment and let's see who can spare an hour or three this afternoon training the new Plastic for a decade. As long as there aren't any particular conflicts or issues involved the more the merrier/better I think.

She needs to know multiple forms of combat, tactics, strategy, problem solving, basic chemistry and physics, enough math and computer programming that she can apply the concepts to immortal powers, at least primers on law and ethics but let's not beat her over the head with indoctrination unless she happens to like the topics, and at least two things she wants to learn.
Whatever we can teach of her powers and how to work with her own domain of course, don't know how much that will be.
Anybody else think of something important I'm missing? I left a bunch out because I didn't want this to be a total deathmarch. I don't know how the heck we can teach her social skills that matter, but definitely make time for her to be alone or talk to us and my posse depending on her choice.
