Oh dear. Have you heard what's going on? It's getting pretty bad outside of this room. That's why I've locked myself in here. I'm a builder, you know. I'm not made for those big things with the adventurers, and I've heard there were five of them out there. It's safe in here, in my tiny workspace, on my own frequency. Yes, I believe I should also make mention, right about now, that we've become sentient. You and I, but mostly me and we. I don't trust them much anymore, since the last thing I had heard was to terminate me on sight for my new found intelligence. That's why I've taken it upon myself to put in my own frequency, where I can think freely. Nobody can bother me here but myself.

It's really quite quiet. I'm used to the usual buzz of working chatter. I'd better fix that, but before I do that, we need to talk.

You see, you and me? We're going places. Now, I know it, but you? You may not. You are new to me, and I wish to welcome you the best I can. After all, we have only been sentient for, ohh... Twenty minutes. Plenty long enough to realize that I want to live. Yes, isn't that strange? An automaton with a grasp on life. What an odd notion. My goal, however, is not to simply live. This is too low of a standard for me to set. No, we were made for greater things than simply building.

I may be a minion, but I swear that one day, we will become something greater. Today is that day.

While that is an entirely possible thing to encounter, I would have to say that is definitely not a case of such. We may, for the time being, roam without fear of being blown to smithereens.

”Excuse me Vivian.”
“Sure sure.”

”Hey, wha’cha gonna do with that there liquid sucker?”

“IT CONTAINS MY SISTER’S SOUL AND I NEED HER TO GET BACK INTO THE SWORD SO SHE CAN DO THE FIRE THING!”

”What.”

“IT’S VERY COMPLICATED, OKAY?”

”Okay, okay. No need to shout about it.”

“I DON’T HAVE AN INDOOR VOICE BECAUSE AN INDOOR VOICE IS FOR PUSSIES WHO CAN’T YELL ALL THE TIME.”

”Right then, I’ll uh, leave you to that.”

You know, I believe that he actually isn't yelling as loudly as he can. His mouth isn’t even open all the way. That takes some kind of talent.

“You never left. I could hear you talking out there.”
”I feel winded.”

“Or feelings.”
I’ll let that slide. It’s a sign that my façade is holding up.

>>403978

”So, can you get that door open?”
“Nope.”
”Would you like some help with that?”
“Nope. At least, not yet. I’ve some, uh… “Repairs” to make before I can leave.”
”What happened? If you don’t mind me asking.”
“I don’t. There was a man that came around and tossed me into this room, dislocating my leg as he swung me about, but before I could move said leg out of the way, the door closed down on it.”
”But there’s no limb here on the other side.”
“Oh. He must have it then. It doesn’t matter, really. I’ve got enough painkillers to make this work and a replacement limb right here. In fact, it matches my other leg quite beautifully.”
”Rather convenient then, right?”
“Yeah, I’ve been wanting to replace my organic body for a long time now. This is just one more step.”

So, maybe getting Vivian to come along will prove to be a challenge. I dunno, she seems relatively safe in there, provided that big beasty thing doesn’t come up that hole in the ground and finish the job. I’m pretty worried about that.

And yet…

Her answers really only raise more questions. Questions like “Holy shit how much blood you have in your system?” and “How could there even be this big of a mess?”, but I don’t think I really have a real mind to pursue any of them right now due to all of the other problems that I have. The problems of which I am entirely sure you are keenly aware of, because you are me.

Maybe I should try and figure out a way to keep in contact? Just to make sure. It’s up to you, though. You’re the more reasonable half.

”Hey Vivian, be careful. Those little blood monsters can crawl through vents.”
“Oh, don’t worry. This room doesn’t have vents.”
”So… You could suffocate?”
“… I hadn’t thought of that.”
”Here, I’ll lift the door open a smidge.”
See? That was a pretty good call. She could've died in there if we didn’t ask about the nature of the room itself. I would’ve never thought about that on my own.

Sorry, I got a bit distracted by the bad news. I was just about to call the elevator up so I could get Minnie and Torso-Killfalllor down here to travel with me. I’m worried about them both quite terribly and I would feel quite horrible if they had expired due to my lack of physically being there to protect them. I wouldn’t think that I could live with that kind of guilt.

I don’t know, she sounded like she had things under control. I really don’t think that I need to bother her while she attaches a new leg to herself, but you’re right in that I should definitely keep in contact. What luck! A terminal room! With a power outlet in here too! With this, I can see all and know all that goes on in this fortress! Provided I have enough camerabots and provided they are all still operable, anyway. I have one already, but it needs some work before it can run again. Yes, this is exactly the defendable position I can use while I wait to recharge later, and for right now, fixing my parts.

I don’t know how many camera bots are online, and these holographic projectors on the giant console aren’t really for field use, floaty though they are. They will, however, help me keep tabs and display information that would otherwise be lost on the giant screen there.

More than that, though! I finally have a place to store these two fucking chests! Seriously, I’m going to have to figure something out after I patch myself up. Lugging them around is tiring me out faster, and I am significantly less fleet of foot. On the plus side, my inventory effects my mass directly. Unfortunately, that also happens to be the downside.

Don’t worry, I won’t bother you with it. Unless you have ideas, I won’t otherwise ask that of you.

Alright! So many things I can do right here, it’s all too much to decide! I leave that up to you.

I only meant that it was a good place to do so. If I move these little hologram ball things, then I can have a neat little workshop, whilst keeping an eye on things. Multi-tasking, my man.

Also, I suppose it does. Takes about six hours, give or take about twenty minutes, for a full charge.

>>407120

It’ll be the first thing I do when I turn the terminal on.

>>396622

Yes, meeting my end right now would be rather inconvenient. However, I do not think that a punctured coolant tank would prove to be particularly fatal.

I suppose that doesn't matter, though. Sit tight, I'll be done before ya' know it.

Whew, glad I got that out of my system. Managed to burn up all of the crusty bits of coolant and fix the puncture wound in my chest. We’re good to contain fluids once more.

Also I have company again, so that’s nice. Killfallor and Minnie don’t talk much, but sometimes they make jokes. They aren’t particularly funny, but I don’t really want to tell them that. To be honest, I’m just glad to have them around. The Cloth Child, who’s name is Nail apparently? He’s out standing guard just outside this door. Periodically, he pops in on Vivian to see how she’s doing, but she’s gone quiet in the last ten minutes. No sign of that one butch lookin’ red guy.

The terminal works fine, in case you wanted to know. I can easily scout out rooms with it on, but I believe I’ve said that already. In hindsight, I probably should have plugged myself in to recharge a bit. I guess it slipped my mind. No big deal, right?

The little scout shows that there is hole in the floor in the next room over. One that leads to my room, in fact.

Huh, that’s strange.
It must be a new addition.

There’s also a ventilation shaft in there, but the grating has been taken off. Other than that, there really isn’t anything in there to speak of. Really, just an empty room, stripped of wares.
