You awake under a pile of splintered wood and plank. The air is mostly silent, hearing only the dead whistle of faint wind. Your leg is sore and your head is pounding.

There's no keyhole, and it's flush against the ground. The door is completely plain. I can't even tell what it's made of.

Neither. It appears to be a plaque.

There's three switches on the wall, each with numbers. Is that bl-... I don't really want to know. Another plaque sits above the switches.

“Threads streaming down a black woven dress of thought and uncertainty, each with a corresponding emotion and reaction.”

There's a window at the top left. The air feels lighter somehow.

No need. As soon as I pull it it sinks back into the wall. The sensation fades away after a few seconds.

Click.

This time I feel only a cool breeze on my face. The air feels lighter again. But I can just barely smell smoke.

>"Y-.. You don't remember me?"

I'm sorry. I don't remember anything before what happened to the camp.

She explains to me how we've best friends for two of our three years alive. She couldn't sleep last night because she thought I was dead. Tariel took care of her until she was ready to go back out there, but she comes in to relax every now and then.

..How long has it been since the camp was destroyed?

>"Thanks."

This conversation isn't very substantial.

"I think I remember seeing something at the camp.. What attacked us?"

She flinches slightly as she remembers.

>"It was a dragon."

"Wh- a dragon?! That's impossible! They went extinct thousands of years ago, they're a thing of myth!

>"They WERE. But I didn't get my shoulder seared by a myth."

"Wow, uh.. So what's your name?"

It saddens her I don't already know.

She laughs and smiles.

>"We used to play hide and seek for hours on end to see which of us got the last fish. The place was alive and bustling with markets and trading and everyone chipped in to help build a new house and there were parties when there was a baby... I miss it, Ix. This place has everything bigger and better except the people. You'd never find a kobold back home who'd want to hurt you or sell you something illegal or steal from you or berate you for being a sub-human. I mean they're not all like that, but there's some real jerks here."

Skip buying weapons for Lia. You don't even know what she's good at using. She certainly has her own weapons, anyway.

Pick up a short sword and shield. Also, perhaps a kobold sized dagger if you have some money left over. It's good to have a backup weapon.

granted, I'm talking about the reptilian, tailed, usually lawful evil kind of kobolds, but still.
