Ow my head. What was I doing here again? Oh yeah, I was on that colonization airship. Guess it crashed or I fell, I don't see it anywhere.

Guess I'm going to have to find everyone else on my own. I think I remember hearing that this place is pretty hostile, specifically at night.

Question! The dirt and rocks are cubes, but are the pebbles cubes as well? What about clumps of dirt? Just asking no need to do anything about it.

the reason this cave was made was because you broke a cardinal rule, never dig straight down. dig stairs into the ground. anyway, for now dig into the sides and make this place bigger.

Now that you mention it, everything does seem a bit... blocky here. I suppose I shouldn't think too hard about the things that don't make sense.

Rules? What rules? The only cardinal rule I can thonk of is the carpenter's cardinal rule, a hammer is always the right tool for the job, and every tool is a hammer.

well add that to the rule list.
also, do you have any mods installed or is this vanilla?

get the technic pack
http://www.technicpack.net/technic6/
it is a mod collection
millenaire (in the pack) spawns villages that have people that do things in them, turn it off if you want this to stay single person

Make some stone tools, and use those to dig a tunnel! STRIKE THE EARTH!

Keep an eye out for a red-haired girl in a jumpsuit. She got stranded too. Name's Weasel. What's your name, by the way?

Now, what do you like more: basements of attics?
>>
No. 386616 ID: ff0733

Name, name, come on I have to have a name...

I got nothing. Perhaps we can decide on a new one? At least until we find the ship and ask them or check the passenger manifest.

As for my preference, well, I haven't ever given that much thought to how much I like a particular part of a building.

technicpack has a whole ton of barely compatible stuff that is unstable at the best of times. I'll take suggestion for individual mods from it though.

Well then, we'll have to choose both options, won't we? Let's build stone tools and start digging. A huge cavern with your house hanging from the ceiling on a thin stalactite is the way to go! The lighting would preferably be provided by lava lakes under it, but a hole in the cavern's ceiling is fine too.

Oh, but first we have to get a lot of wood. Sticks, planks, charcoal... These are essential in our quest.

Hanging from a stalactite? That's for wusses. True pros have their house floating completely in midair.

There any tall hills or mountains visible from the treetops? Hollowing out rooms along the side of a cliff is extremely resource-efficient, it's very well-protected from wildlife, and unlike the other proposed designs you can expand at any time without risking a fatal fall.

I spent the night expanding the pit into a bit of a cave. When I tried digging out a tunnel, I found what I think is some iron.

It's finally day. I climbed to the top of a tree to get a look around, but it looks like I'm in a thick forest, the best I can see could barely be called a hill.

If that's it, I should go back and grab my axe from the cave to get some more wood...

RUN

its called a creeper, it walks up to you and explodes. if you can't lose it there is one way to deal with them without ranged weapons, let it get close enough that it starts to hiss and sprint for your life. if you time it right you'll be out of the blast radius when it detonates.

Or you can get a skeleton archer to kill one, last I checked. We don't have one on hand, and I'd heavily recommend that we practice timing before we try that. For now, run. Run like you've never ran before.

It's nearly night again. After that close run in, I decided to use the iron that terrible creature revealed to make a nice breastplate and a proper blade, rather than that sharpened stick I was using. I hit the creature with it, that stick didn't seem to do much. I'd like to see one of these 'Creepers' ignore this!
>>
No. 386989 ID: ed57e8

sweet, get your tools and come back here, get the iron and wood. those things only appear in the dark, but unlike most of the other monsters, the sun doesn't kill it. and change the dirt blockage into a trapdoor or door so you can open and close instead of digging it out every time.
>>
No. 386996 ID: ed57e8

drat, not sure which one but one mod from the technic pack makes it so armor always gives the same bonus instead of getting worse as it gets damaged so a iron plate is good until it breaks

I piled up all the dirt I dug up to make a bit of a tunnel protecting me when I try to leave the cave. Don't think it will stand up to an explosion, but nothing bigger than a chicken can get in without digging. Please don't tell me there is some horrible creature here that digs.

You should just fill in the tunnel to the surface completely at night.

naw get more wood and you can make a door, a REAL door, with hinges. is three tall, two wide of planks to make.

no but there are spiders that can fit though openings about as large as a chicken. i'd recommend making a proper door four your cave.

Ah dammit. There is a creature here that digs! Should I kill it or leave it alone?
>>
No. 387129 ID: f70e5e

that is an enderman. it'll leave you alone so long as you don't look directly at it. if you do it'll freak out and you'll have to kill it. i'd recommend avoiding it for now.
>>

AN ENDER MAN they're like aliens from another dimension which you never want to go to because holy crap. See those purple sparkles? They can teleport short distances, and always teleport when they get wet (but don't get them wet it pisses them off). They're tall you can see, thus, low roofs keep them from inadvertently appearing next to your bedside as you slumber. They can't crouch because <alien shenanigans>.

Yes they dig. But they're badass motherfuckers so don't even think of picking a fight unless you can shoot them through a window or something suitably unfair.

They're as native as you are, probably less so in fact, so don't worry about tromping on their sacred grounds.

Any reason you're walking around at night, instead of hiding quivering inside your crudely erected domicile?

I'm running around outside as it gets cramped and boring inside the cave. And I feel quite powerful with this pig sticker I just made.

I heard this place has a lot of valuable minerals under the surface, so I decided to see for myself. I was quite suprised, the rumors weren't hyperbole. I found enough iron to fill my cave were I to just toss it about with the stone still attached to the veins. There were some undead as well, but the armor and sword served me well.

387158

I melted down all the iron into bars so I can use it later. I found quite a bit, enough for a suit of platemail, a new set of quality tools, and I still had iron left over.

I made a bucket, wanting to give myself a water source nearby. It took some legwork, but I found a nearby spring that I took the water from to fill in the pit that "Creeper" made. Where are you all coming up with these names from anyways?

Finally, I used the last of my shoddy stone pickaxe to expand the cave a bit, after this it might be big enough to divide into rooms. I think I've made a handy bit of progress for just spending 3 days out in the wilderness with nothing to help me.

Any suggestions on what I do next? I could easily start bending the land to my needs now, or I could go look for the airship. Or something else, you all seem to know more than I do.
>>
No. 387161 ID: f70e5e

i'd recommend looking for the airship. its probably got some useful stuff in it.

dig a staircase downward, lower down you can find more materials
>>
No. 387164 ID: ff0733

I dug a shaft down until I hit a cavern quite deep down. Thats where all my coal and iron came from. I also saw some red ore of some type and some gold, though my pick was not strong enough to break them apart. Besides, I already have metal to spare from my first trip.
>>
No. 387165 ID: ed57e8

your new iron pick can break gold and red stuff.

We call them creepers because they creep around. Also, build an iron pickaxe. More durable and can get that red stuff. Also, be on the lookout for any light blue crystals. And carry a bucket with some water. You'll need it.

Also, try to carry a spare bucket. Might be useful, especially for what you'll find at these depths.
>>
No. 387232 ID: ff0733

What would I want to look for down there? I already have enough iron to support myself for awhile, and while valuable gold is soft and heavy. Coal I also have in abundance, I have enough to keep the cave warm for the next month!
>>
No. 387233 ID: ed57e8

red stuff
>>
No. 387271 ID: 1b0f2f

RED STUFF is useful. It serves as a plot devicemechanism for building circuitry by laying traces of it in the ground. Just fashion a few switches made from a couple of torches, maybe a piston out of <shenanigans> and you can build yourself simple machinery!

I made another pass through the cave, hunger and large hordes of undead kept me from going too far. Here's what I have so far.
>>
No. 387362 ID: ed57e8

okay, you will want to surface during the day and find a cow or pig and kill it for meat to cook.
>>
No. 387363 ID: 1854db

You need to FARM.

Get some seeds from the grass, find some water, dig a trench, till the soil around it, then plant the seeds. Eventually you'll get grain, and with that comes bread!

I think we should wander around a bit more on the surface though. Maybe we can find something interesting!

Now that you've got yourself in a stable situation, with some nice protection and supplies, it's time to go exploring!
>>
No. 387392 ID: 4bdd79

You can also do this underground if you use enough torches. Also, you can grind up bones to produce bonemeal, which lets you quickly grow enough wheat for bread in an emergency like this one.

If all else fails, just eat that nasty-looking meat to hold you over while you look for an animal to kill.
