Fürchte den Mann, der dem Tod mutig ins Antlitz blickt.
I see a staircase beneath the statues base.
>>31560 Well keep on smashing until you can fit through the hole.
Yes, make a hole, large enough to fit through, if possible.
>>31563 But don't just smash it thats not very paladin like say something like. "By the name of all that is good I sunder this hole as it impeads my progress."
"By the name of all that is good I sunder this hole as it impedes my progress!" Technically I am 'just' a knight, but saying that felt really good. The base is quickly obliterated. From the inside I can see the mechanism to open it. Oh well. The stairs lead into a rough room with what appears to be a primitive well in it. The room is very dark, even my elven eyes have a hard time penetrating the grim darkness of the cave. ((Bad picture is bad))
>>31587 Use your shield to reflect some light into the hole so you can make out whats down there better.
See if you can see to the bottom! Maybe throw a torch down there.
>>31589 but thats a waste of a torch, although if there is not enough light to reflect it might be your only option.
>>31591 Yeah, the shield idea is better.
>>31588 >>31589 I have neither, I had to ditch everything else to keep pace with the creature. I didn't need a torch so far, because of my superior elven senses.
>>31600 Use sword for reflectiveness, isn't it shiny?
Oh so shiny. Shiny sword.
>>31602 >>31604 There isn't much light to work with, not enough for a human to see its hand in front of its face, but I manage to illuminate the well a bit. I see that the well widens after a few meters, but the bottom is still veiled in darkness.
You should not jump or climb down there yet. We have yet two tunnels to check out.
>>31776 Of course. Climbing down mysterious wells shouldn't always be the first choice. I'll explore the left tunnel first.
Now that didn't do much. I hate walking around in circ- oh hey.
>>32126 Well open the chest.
>>32142 >Loot Very well, hopefully there's something useful inside this-
...Mimic.
>>32185 STAB IT IN THE EYE SMITE AND CLEAVE!
>>32186 CHUCK IT DOWN THE WELL.
>>32186 APPEASE IT WITH DELICIOUS GOLD AND JEWELS! ...Uhh, MAYBE THE WELL IS A GOOD IDEA TOO!
Kill it you think you can handle a single mimic by yourself.
>APPEASE IT WITH DELICIOUS GOLD AND JEWELS! No such thing, I currently possess 17 coins of gold. >Slay the beast and cast it down into the abyss. By Al'ama Lylyn Tryim'Ral Tyrneaghymn, she who walked breathing on bottom of the ocean to purge it from the countless horrors of the deep, receive thy punishment! The Mimic contained a bag of marbles! They appear to be filled with a milky liquid. They give off a faint glow. Illath loots 24 pretty teeth from the corpse! The remains are chucked down the well. Judging from the sound there is solid ground about 20 metres under the ho- "Hello?", a faint voice sounds from the well.
"Who is it?!" Ask with a voice like thunder!
>>33290 "'allo, zis is zee maid. Who iz eet?"
>>33290 Say nobody is home.
>>35199 Probably the best option.
((Slow Gulmoth is slow.)) >>35154 >>35199 >>35231 Cowards and Harlots. >>33293 >"Who is it?!" My ELVEN VOICE fails to sound very impressive. After a pause the same voice, high and melodic, so either a human female or an elf, speaks again: >"The demon took me. There were others here. They're all gone now."
"You didn't answer the question!"
>"You didn't answer the question!" >"... the demon knows my name. He would wake up, if I spoke it." ... This reeks of treachery and heresy.
"A person is more than a name. Who are you?"
>>38461 Ask the person a question only a mortal would understand like. "What is the duty of all?" If they answer to serve the almighty, to serve the king, to live there own life, or anything a mortal would answer if they had anysort of creed to them they are more than likely some one who has been captured. If they aviod the question they are either the demon or a sinner stupid enough to be captured. In which case be on your guard.
>>38475 >"What is the duty of all?" >"... no sense or duty, only being."
>>38974 Alright, then, what are you?
>>38974 well it is a mortal responce however it is the responce of a sinner and despite being a sinner you can't leave that person to there death go down there be on your guard because they could be working with the demon.
>>38999 Yes, my honour forbids me to condemn this soul without a trial. It is time to have a look at this one. >>38977 I will ask her from face to face.
Oh fuck, she's calm as hell. She's bait. There is a giant toothy fish in the water that her feet are connected to. Don't get in the water, oh god, don't get in the water. She's just like a Siren. If she asks for you to come into the water and help her up, ask her why she just doesn't grab onto the rope and get enough of a grip that you can help her climb. Just don't touch the water.
Oh wait, I thought you used rope to get down here. Just help her up on dry land.
>>47525 Make sure to brace yourself when pulling her out.
>>47532 ((Yeah, forgot the rope on picture 022, sorry.)) A bait? This kind of trickery would fit a demon. I will be careful. >"What are you doing there, wom-" >"You are a proud man, aren't you, Illath?"
>>47525 She's the monster and she has just lured you to a battleground she prepeared. I guess you never heeded the tale of Beowulf. Die for glory.
>>47547 "Who are you and how do you know who I am? Speak quickly for I will not humour demonic trickary."
>>47550 I guess that was to be expected. > "Who are you and how do you know who I am? Speak quickly for I will not humour demonic trickery." > "You are very proud of your name, aren't you? It is written all over you, every inch of you is covered by yourself." She starts to slowly shift sideways, going around me ...
Interrupt her drama with a thrown knife.
If you have no knife nor throwable weapon, say "And every inch of you is covered by that ridiculous turtleneck." Also, compliment her sweater cows.
Does it look like she's walking or swimming, or is she just... shifting around? If she is just kinda floating to the side, throw the knife and make it count!
>>47857 "...Of course I'm covered by myself. That's an idiotic statement. On top of myself is my clothing." "What else should I be wearing, the flesh of others?"
>>47857 I might be crazy, but I think there's something in the water on her left (your right). And there's something wrong with the lower half of her face. Looks... discolored.
