http://www.tgchan.org/kusaba/quest/res/712179.html

Your name is Isaac, and you just murdered your roommate over the last serving of Pasta Salad. Now you have to get away with murder.

Feel free to discuss the choices here! :)

Tgchan is terrible at being anything but the nice guy.
Luckily, Isaac is here to change that with his bloody butter knife and poor life choices!

You guys, you have it all wrong. Jim is a HIGHLY ADVANCED CYBORG from ANOTHER DIMENSION where murder is okay. Did I not make it obvious?

(totally kidding. Jim is a mystery wrapped in an enigma)

I'm curious and have a question for the author -- you seem to be pulling for moral compass. Am I right? By bringing up the reality of the situation?

Or just showing how much of a psychopath Isaac really is? 'Cause I figured that out from the opening.
>>

Isaac's decisions are entirely based on what the readers suggest. Isaac does have a moral compass, but that moral compass is quickly getting trumped by the suggestions of the readers. Did he have the capacity to be a fully fledged psychopath at the beginning of this quest? Yep! Could he just as easily not turn into one? Yep.

He could have trusted Hank with the problem, he could have told Jim not to kill Lindsey, but he didn't because that's not what the readers wanted. Sometimes I try to guide the readers based on how Isaac MIGHT feel about certain things (fear of rejection from Mike because he's such a stand-up guy, for example!) but at the end of the day, Isaac is YOU.

The way he reacts to things (i.e. "cutting up these corpses is okay" is to make it easier for you as the reader to control him. It wouldn't be much fun if everyone wanted him to stand idle with the Lindsey situation and he had a crisis about it-- fighting the reader in doing so.
He's missing EMPATHY. That's why it's so easy for him to do this stuff despite never having done it before. However, that doesn't automatically make him a bad person-- his actions are the reader's.

The small moral reflections are for YOU (as Isaac) to realize that you might have fucked up and that there was some actual weight to your actions. It's not "LOL we killed her it's fine!" It's "We killed her, and she was a person with a future."

That argument would have been a teensy more convincing if the cold open wasn't murder over pasta salad that wasn't even any good.

>>99093
my boy smik's got a point here ay, isaac cold-opened on us already weirdly-fine with cold blooded murder over pretty much nothing

Not that I'm complaining, it's good to be behind the wheels of a borderline sociopath again
>>

Hey, everyone has to start somewhere.

Spur-of-the-moment crimes happen all the time. Readers could have just easily said "BE HORRIFIED AND REFLECT BY/ON WHAT YOU'VE JUST DONE" instead of "eat the fucking pasta salad", which is, generally speaking, an under-reaction to the events of the opening.
>>
No. 99096 ID: f188a4

Cause lemme tell you, you live with a crappy roommate that steals your shit and come home on a bad day, shit can happen. Especially if the roommate in question is about to mow down the last serving of what is irrefutably your food.

The little moral reflections are just for the readers, not Isaac. (Which is what I was trying to say in my first post but on re-reading it it sounded like it was for both lol).

it's actually pretty normal for the full weight of these things to hit as late as weeks after the incident, my immersion is still intact 100%

This is a good quest no matter what, it's been so long since we've played so chaotic neutral
>>
No. 99099 ID: f188a4

Glad you're enjoying! And very true. I've played around with the idea that things will catch up with Isaac when there's a moment of reprieve, though it'll depend on how he's played.

There's still a lot to discover! :D

>>99099
So what you're saying is that there is a mechanical benefit to playing him like a sociopath?
>>
No. 99118 ID: 3009b4

>>99095

Actually considering he just murdered someone over pasta salad it's no surprise we're more indifferent to the gravity of the situation. We're taking our hints from the character. A normal person gripped by rage would just beat the ever loving crap out of the guy. So when our cold open is murder, not beat-down, little wonder we're more concerned over the pasta salad.

>The little moral reflections are just for the readers, not Isaac. (Which is what I was trying to say in my first post but on re-reading it it sounded like it was for both lol).

As a reader and given the set-up it's pretty much well a given we're going to play this for maximum carnage.

>>99116
Personally I'm FINE with playing him like a psychotic. Some quests really work out for the best taking refuge in the audacity and then turning around with cold-hard reality when you least expect it. I'm looking forward to seeing stuff hit the fan.

I just found the sudden element of morals to be unusual considering our cold open.

Yeah!! I figured the internet would take it and run for Maxium Chaos, but I'm also prepared for variations, y'know? It's sure to be a wild ride either way!

"weh weh he's a creepy stalker type weh" more like
not that that's a bad reason mind, he IS a creepy stalker type, but I am also in favor of good-ending this for everyone.
Really I'm just waiting for us to stumble upon state secrets and really EARN that most wanted by doing good
>>
No. 99780 ID: 7de580

Jim is obviously mistaken about Isaac becoming most wanted in America because as we all know Isaac is going back to school and majoring in Theater. That's the plan, right, guys?
