Hey everybody.

Discussion thread for Godless Quest.

I'll answer questions and respond to feedback about Godless Quest or whatever here.

Notable quest facts:

This is my first quest! Ever!
I've drawn more in the last week than I probably have in the last few months!
My shoulder and drawing arm is killing me!
The three hour written exam yesterday didn't help!

Uh, yeah. I guess I'll go by Godless in this thread so you guys can actually tell who I am.

Discuss?

You made a quest in which the collective for all suggestions got the nickname of "Carl" and flew right off without an issue, the character actually accomplished his main priority within a few updates probably screwing over a chance to fight back an invasion, all within a night according to the timeline of the story, without revealing the name or gender of the main character and not a single face was drawn for the entirety of the first chapter.

For a first quest ever it's pretty darn solid, I'll give you that.

Keep up the good work.

I agree with the last dude completely, this shit is going pretty neat so far.
I am very invested in seeing how our protagonist of indeterminable gender is going to develop over the course of this quest of ours!

I hope this isn't one of those awesome-looking quests which abruptly stops updating for whatever reason or slows its update rate down to a level that makes it difficult to enjoy. so I guess keep doing what you've been doing so far and you're all set on your way to awesomeness.

the way the concept of the Chosen was introduced to us, I'd think they would have at least some form of defense against mundane bullets.

yo author, are they meant to be as badass as I think they'd be, or has Jack overstated the difference in power between a Chosen and a plain old mage?

As for the question as to whether our Tiddles McKnifewizard is a Jack or a Jackie, I guess I assumed that the clothing was not actually all that bulky, and that 'he' was just kind of built like a linebacker, and therefore male. But hey, props for challenging our preconceived notions of gender.

Anyway, cool quest so far. Looking forward to the next chapter!

Knife wizard built like a line backer works for me.

Question: Is it possible to renounce your god and how difficult is it to do so?

Also, how screwed are atheists in this world?

This is a damn solid quest, and probably the best "first quest" I have ever seen.

As far as the gender, I thought the protagonist was pretty gender-neutral throughout. I'm not sure which gender would make for a more interesting quest. I don't think gender is really all that important of a character attribute in this case. If we wanted to do something totally revolutionary, the Godless could be a eunuch.

>>65077
This is my primary concern. I just hope it doesn't die.

>>65078
I think that was explained in-quest well enough. He does have defenses, but his defenses weren't in place, because there was an invasion, and he was understandably shaken by everything he owned going up in flames, and the guard who doubtless was a friend of his on the ground bleeding out.

>>65083
Based on the quest name, I imagine something of that nature will be a plot point.

Man, I am going to reply to all of the things.

Wow, thanks! I think I’ve found a decent update speed that I should be able to stick with for a while. If things come up and I have to slow down or stop, well. I dunno, I’ll figure something out that doesn’t just leave you guys hanging. Next chapter will start up tomorrow or Monday, which is really just whenever I figure out a design for our protagonist out of their knife wizard gear.

> yo author, are they meant to be as badass as I think they'd be, or has Jack overstated the difference in power between a Chosen and a plain old mage?
They are badass. I’m sure Jack(ie?) would love to tell you more about their special weapon and how it totally just killed one of the chosen as soon as they have a chance! (They will have a chance soon. It’s a long walk to anything nearby.)

> Is it possible to renounce your god and how difficult is it to do so?
>Also, how screwed are atheists in this world?
These are also questions that Jack would be better off answering. Mostly because they’re pretty important questions and not everyone reads the discussion thread. Same deal as above though.

>built like a linebacker
Really? The picture on the left is my initial sketch of jack. I guess the in-quest drawings turned out bulkier and stockier? The bigass scarf and mantle don’t really help, but I mean.

Eh. Linebacker knife-wizard is also pretty sweet. And besides, half the fun of quests is making shit up as you go.

>built like a linebacker
Well, to be fair, I was reading the quest on my phone at the time so the pictures were all tiny, and I was mostly going off of apparent shoulder-width. I hadn't noticed the part of the body that was visible beyond what the mantle covered.

But hey! More updates within the next two days. Better than what I'm expecting from any of the other quests I'm following, so cool beans.

Yeah, I think even at his* slenderest, he's broader than that concept sketch. Part of it is his clothes adding width I'm sure, but I kind of like the idea of him as a fairly large person.

*Just going with a pronoun for convenience.

Most of our female protagonists end up as squishy wizards, or using some sort of waif-fu. A heavy-set pragmatist would be a nice change of pace.

maybe my image of the average woman is twisted, but to me, Jack looks like a dude even in that sketch due to his shoulder-width being almost twice his hip-width.

>>65107
Well generally in anatomy male sholders are wider than their hips, while female shoulders are about the same width as the hips, or smaller i guess if you're dealing with booty.

Two things:

1) Operation Linebacker Knife Wizard Tiddles is go.

2) re: gender voting

What the hell, guys?

I mean.

Four of you voted knife as a gender.

I don't even.

Anyways, I'll probably post the initial unmasked jack doodles eventually, along with some other silly ones that may or may not be based on stupid gender votes.

Fuck you man I've been waiting MONTHS for an opportunity like this.
Do you know how hard it is to get something to eat here?
DO YOU?!

I'm just going to leave my post of approval to this quest. It's interesting, witty, has potential to be as large as the author feels like making it(good setting). So I just hope the trend continues, and it is as awesome as the intro made it out to be.

Until then... Carl is here to help our protagonist! :3

Welp.

Due to heavy snowfall and intermittent power failures I may not be able to get an update out tonight. Lack of an update may also be due to fatigue, I had to run around shoveling and pushing cars that were stuck in the snow all morning.

In the mean time, have the doodles for Jack’s ULTRAMANLY linebacker design.

And If I can find the thread, I have something that I guess is fanart?

I parsed all the votes talking about knives as referring to the possibility of a eunuch character while trying to be witty.

Not quite. I was hoping that Tiddles' crotch would be a portal to the Platonic ideal of knives or some such. It sounded better in my head.
