In case anyone actually wants to talk about my dumb bum quest.

I'd actually like to know what people think of it so far.

The first chapter will have some nice puzzles and will end with a big bang.

So, exiled royalty enters a dungeon with the intent of clearing it out, and soon has the Orb of Infinite Psyche.

COINCIDENCE?!

I thought it was a slightly better explanation than just "oh i have voices in my head talking to me". Also, I like the idea that suggesters can have conversations with characters.

And clearing out the dungeon is just step one in Lucair's plan. There is a very important aspect to this dungeon that is essential to his current objective.

I'm having trouble with this quest.
I think I have good ideas for the story, and I want to tell them in this medium, because I really enjoy reading quests myself. I've also been told I'm quite good at writing, so I guess I want to utilize that.
But I think I get frustrated by the more "Gamey" aspects I force myself to do. Puzzles and whatnot. I also can't seem to be able to draw in a loose manner, getting anal and frustrated about things. I end up with a STUPID amount of layers in Photoshop and confuse myself.

All in all, the quest quickly stops being fun for me, even though I still want to tell the story.
I suppose I want to get to the point where the quest is more character-character and character-player interaction, but I just can't seem to get there.

I think that's as best as I can explain it, so does anyone have any advice?

Well, this may come across as stating the obvious, but if you want character-character interaction? Introduce a new character. You're tired of puzzles? Remember that the dungeon only has be as long as you want it to be, no matter what you originally planned. The story is flexible in quests- you have to change up things you don't think are working, or that we mess up from your original plans.

I can't really offer any advice to make Photoshop easy / less frustrating / less tedious. But if it's just layers confusing you, it could help to name them, or yeah, just use less of them.

Uh, what exactly do you have a "stupid" amount of layers for? Your art is black and white lineart with a filter over it.

If you are using one file for all your backgrounds, that is not a good idea. If you are, make sure to name the layers and have each background be only one layer. You can always just erase elements that get permanently changed.

I see that you are reusing art assets a lot. You should probably name them properly.
