So several friends of mine are playing a wide scale home-brew strategy game, in which the players control countries in a scifi/steampunk world. It occurred to us that a Quest in this world played on the individual scale would be interesting, so we looked to TGchan.

We arent quite ready to get started on a regular basis, but will have time to do so at a later date.

The biggest problem I forsee, is not a lack of skill on my behalf, but one simple fact:
I Dont Have A Tablet. I have tried a few things in paint, and I didnt like the results, so I have been considering making it a text quest, because I am much more confidant in my writing skills than my ability to give enough visual detail with Paint. Any suggestions on using Paint with a crappy touchpad and making it look good would be welcomed, as well as basic suggestions on GMing a quest.

get Photoshop or Gimp or something, because let's face it- you aren't Weaver.

oh, and you might wanna try /tg/ instead.

You can get a tablet on the cheap on Amazon, especially if it's on sale. I got mine for 60 bucks and it's magnificent, I'm sure there's even cheaper ones out there. Also, get gimp or pirate Photoshop or Paint Tool Sai.

Used well, a touchpad or mouse can still be a good tool. Apparently "The Family Business" is drawn with just a mouse and is much higher quality than one would expect. Hell, just using the line tool can get some good effects, like emulating a vector-like style. >>356357 is a good example, courtesy of Pudding.

Yeah, using just paint and mouse is enough on tgchan if you got the artist's eye and hand. I think my quests would be better if I just used paint and mouse. It's true, drawing tablets set you free, but what are you skilled to do with it? To make just a bloody much out of it or a beautiful painting? Restrictions can be seen as a freedom too. You can restrict your focus on making shapes look better than with using 1000+ different brushes where they do justice like in my case
