So hey, here's a discussion thread.

Chapter 1: http://quest.lv/kusaba/quest/res/310172.html
Prologue: http://quest.lv/kusaba/quest/res/308506.html (at time of posting, on way to archives)

Got a question or comment about the quest? Don't want to clutter up the thread with black bars? Here's the place to be!

Ok I'v got something I'd like to discuss: How come there is another sentient species on a planet thats ecosystem is actively altered to allow one candidate species to stay on top. Surely the 'Godstone' would not knowingly allow another sentient species to evolve; they could be a major threat and would complicate things when the planet joined the Empire. Could they be a result of the damage to the monolisk? Or maybe a sign of outside interference?

Did you want the Official Spoiler Answer, or did you want to foster discussion? (Personally, I'd rather you guys discuss it a bit so I can steal your ideas.)

Yeah, I kind of figured you weren't serious about LEAVING FOREVER when you posted a suggestion immediately after. :V

Yeah no spoilers. Although you could drop some INTERESTING YET CRYPIC CLUES.

Well anyway I have a couple of threories:
#1: There is another 'Godstone', or an equivalent of a Godstone, on the planet. It may be there because of a mistake made by the empire or it may be from a force from outside the empire.
#2: The other sentients are not from the planet. They were planted there by a force unknown.

As for what caused the damage to the Godstone, I don't really have anything on that.

Though probably not as plot-inducing as the others, my own thoughts on the presence of (multiple) other sapient species living in relatively close proximity to our chosen specie: essentially, those other species are merely fodder to provide experience with dealing with other sapient species for the chosen specie, acclimatizing them to different base perspectives and priorities in preparation for their introduction to the multi-species society of the Empire.

Here's an INTERESTING YET CRYPTIC CLUE: The Godstone hasn't ordered the destruction of the godless voices.

How do their measurements of time differ from ours? How long is one of their years? How longs a 'Half-moon'?

says it in the chapter 0.

Since Chapter 0 is somewhere between the live board and the archive board (how long does it normally take, anyway?), I'll go ahead and answer those questions.

Their year is about 1.75 of our years, but they also divide it into twelve months, or moons. A half-moon is half of that, their equivalent of two weeks.

Chapter 2 is in the seasonal equivalent of November, for reference; Aiaka celebrated her birthday in September, along with the other tribe members born in autumn (that part of the ceremony wasn't shown 'on camera', a slight goof on my part), and the harvest festival was in October.

That seems like the most likely reason.
Another possibility is that the probability manipulation used to make sapience has imprecise targeting and is having a some effect on life forms other than the focus species.

So if you'll excuse something on the level of how you run the quest rather than its plot:

Forgot your pic, bro.

But seriously I don't mind the text in images. The only problem I have with text quests is that I have to read through 20 suggestions then an update that all look exactly the same. There's nothing breaking it up, it's just the same thing over and over. Every time I try to read one I get a headache.

I kind of like the text being in images because it makes it easier to see which posts are quest posts and which are suggestion. On the other hand, my computer (and presumably others) does occasionally get pissy and refuse to load images (or load half of the image and refuse to load the rest on refresh).
