Hey there, TGchan. I'm looking into starting my first quest, and I'm curious about a few things. If you guys could help out a bit, that'd be great.
Firstly (and probably most importantly), do you guys have room for another quest? If not, that's cool. I'd just like to know before I start anything.
Secondly, though I already have a rough and (at this point) completely flexible plot fleshed out, I'd like to know just how flexible you think I should it for the quest proper. Do you guys in general like freeform, railroading, or a mixture of the two?
Thirdly, I have no artistic skills whatsoever. I plan to use MSpaint for maps of areas. An unfinished version of one such map is attached. Should I continue along this line or go for all text in lieu of proper drawing skills?
I have a few more questions, but this is probably enough for now.
I know some methods are suggested on the TGchan wiki, but with this post I'm mostly trying to judge popular opinion, which I plan to consolidate with both what I have planned and what the advice page on the wiki says.

Oh, and finally, shall I use a name in this particular thread for the sake of clarity, or will it be easy enough to distinguish me from the other anons?
Thanks in advance, TGchan.

Oh, and I also forgot to mention that I'm going to sleep now. Don't expect a response from me for the next few hours.

>Do you have room for another quest?
No such thing as too many quests. If anything, there are less quests running right now than usual.

>How flexible is proper flexible.
A mix of the two. Completely freeform suffers from disjointedness and lolrandum, while completely railroaded suffers from, well, railroads.

>TEXT QUEST
Unless you're actually good, expect a readership as low as two or three people. For examples of all-text quests that someone actually reads, see Bob's Ant Quest and Golem Quest. For the opposite, see everything else.

>Names
Every IP gets assigned an ID, actually for that purpose exactly - to distinguish between "Anonymouses."

Right, noted. What about general tone of the quest? Silly, grimdark, something in between? I know this depends in large part on the plot itself, but to be honest there isn't much of a set atmosphere yet. Might it help to hear the basic setting I have, or does TGchan have general advice in this area?

Pffft...
I think the range of themes has gone from Fucked up Horror to Gay screwing lizards.
Whatever comes to your mind is likely to elicit posters. Keep it fresh i guess...

... Gay... Screwing... lizards. Right, written down.
Finally (I think), how extensive and lengthy should I make this quest? As I said, I do have a rough plot, but as it stands now the ending is pretty open to influence. Unless every single option in every single area is explored, it'd probably only be a two- or three-shot quest. Personally, I think it'd be nice to have something longer, but once again that's entirely up to TGchan.
Or I could just make it a one-shot for now and ask this same question at the end.

Make it long enough to get it done.

Seriously. Look at the openning posts of Dorf Quest and Ruby Quest.
They expected them to be short, but they became epic sagas.
Only expect it to be short if you know without a doubt that it will be. People like mukkin' about.

Although yo get an ID, a name is a good way to, erm, make a name for yourself, and can be useful for identifying people in the IRC.

On a side note, visit the IRC! #tgchan on irc.rizon.net

Very true, yes.

I had completely forgotten about that, but I'll make sure to visit a bit later. Once I've thought up a name that I won't regret later on, that is.

Make sure not to make it TOO long though, or you'll suffer from arc fatigue.
